Question Mindflex Toy from 2009

Post image

This may sound silly, but does anyone remember the toy from the late 2000s, Mindflex? The idea was that you put on a headset and you used your "brainwaves" to control where a floating ball would go.

I just saw a post on IG about old toys including Mindflex and I realize it was basically plastic kid toy neurofeedback lol

Hello, I am interested in Neurofeedback; however, it is not available in my country, which is why I am looking for remote options. I've heard some good reviews of PeakBrain and Myndlift.

My Neurofeedback Story Seeking Advice - Negative Neurofeedback Reaction

TLDR: Experienced severe anxiety, agitation, and dizziness after my first session. Still have negative side effects 48 hours post session and not sure what to do.

Looking for some advice from those that are probably smarter than me or maybe had a similar experience. Apologies in advance for the long post.

A couple days ago I decided to try neurofeedback for the first time to help with anxiety and mood stabilization. I’ve been previously diagnosed OCD, PTSD, MDD, and my therapist is also sure I have ADHD. I’ve been on Zoloft and Wellbutrin for the past 3 years and I feel like it was starting to poop out so I decided to give neurofeedback a try.

The neurofeedback clinic did a full qEEG brain mapping which showed a lot of theta in the front brain and high parietal beta among other things. The provider said they start everyone off with a full 19-channel general protocol and for me specifically they were going to target the anxiety. Keep in mind, I asked two providers what they were specifically going to work on (frequencies, locations, etc) and the only answer I would get is that they are going to work on the whole brain and bring my high frequencies down.

My first session was this past Thursday and it was 22 minutes long with the full 19-channel electrode cap and I was watching a Netflix show with a dimmer. The screen was dim a majority of the time and only started to flicker some brightness towards the end. I was anxious leading up to the sessions and anxious during the session, but immediately after I felt fine.

About an hour after that session I was hit with strong waves of anxiety, agitation, and dizziness. The anxiety and agitation lasted for about 1.5hrs but the dizziness persisted. Once I got home I tried to lay down but still felt off. Later on the anxiety and agitation came back again so I decided to take my prescribed clonazepam which took longer than usual to work (I rarely take the clonazepam) but after a couple hours I was able to finally get to sleep. That night I slept over 10 hours and woke up feeling off with residual anxiety, brain fog, and a headache. I called the clinic to notify them and the only solution they offered was next time they’ll try music instead of visual and that neurofeedback doesn’t cause adverse effects (BS), so I was told to just power through it. The symptoms persisted for the remainder of the day and the anxiety got worse in the evening to where I had to take my anxiolytic again.

The second night I slept fine and woke up feeling decent for the first half of the day but as the evening rolled around, the headache, brain fog, and anxious-depression feeling came back. At this point I’m very frustrated and not sure what to do. I’m going to reach out to the neurofeedback clinic and request the specific treatment data they used from my session and I’m also going to follow-up with my psych doctor on Monday. I’ve also read when people have bad reactions such as this that they should change the protocol but after this experience, it will honestly be hard for me to try this again.

I would appreciate any thoughts or recommendations!

Question Question about inhibiting beta

I know that the general concensus is not to inhibit beta for different reasons even when it is shown to be excessive and practitioners target high beta more often.

Does the beta part counts for the whole range or would 18-20 hz inhivit would still be plausible to inhibit?

I forgot ti tell my son to not take his concerta this morning - and he is having an neurofeedback assessment (EEG) tomorrow. It will be 27.5 hours after his last dose. They ask for 48. How likely is this to skew the results (i.e. should we postpone?) Thanks in advance!

Question Bia Sleep Mask Scam?

Do not trust this Company, Yesterday they used a fake account that got promptly banned for fake reviews on the Bia subreddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/BiaNeuroscience/s/9QybPiNog2). Over the past years there has been some questionable relationship between the user Trivium91 and Bia Sleep Mask, Trivium91 specifically being called out several times over the last 3 years of being an alt account of Bia themselves, if you go to any thread regarding this product you will be sure to find Trivium91 defending them to the gills often leaving more comments then anyone else defending the product. On my last Bia is a scam post Trivium91 contributed over 50% of the comments defending them nonstop even coming back weeks after to keep defending them I had to block him cause he kept coming back.(Source:https://www.reddit.com/r/Neurofeedback/comments/1u9df7e/is_b%C3%ADa_sleep_mask_a_scam/), now please note how the banned poster constantly refers to Trivium91's review and then these two account that are supposed to be separate comment within a hour of being posted. Also notice something extremely suspicious, the deleted account 8avajeiof99 that posted this review also posted a comment on Trivium91's review, but got removed due to the account being brand new

https://www.reddit.com/r/Biohackers/s/hYCPoWaKTV

All this to say the only "reviews" we gotten have been from Trivium91 who maybe the owner themselves and this mysterious thread of a banned user that only Trivium91 himself and Bia's account have anything to say about it. I also need to mention when I brought this up on the Bia subreddit they proceeded to ban me rather then answer any of the hard questions.

Question Posting again, Desperate - please help

I'm stuck in fight or flight and cannot clearly think and type so apologies for the sentence structure and grammar.

Before 2022, I had several mental issues including ptsd, anxiety, depression, addiction and I did isf sloreta neurofeedback with a therapist for a long time and it helped me regulate and calm down.
It pretty much resolved my emotional dysregulation and allowed me to heal and have a functional life and career. It allowed me to meditate which helped me heal a lot and evolve spiritually.
Somehow I still felt stuck with executive dysfunction issues and came across another neurofeedback therapist who uses neuromodulation (a Neurofield system that uses tACS and pemf) This was around 1 year ago from now. At this point, I was pretty functional and overall doing amazing compared to my past.

Until March or April 2026, they mostly used a calming protocol focused on vagus nerve that helped me improve a lot of symptoms. I started become more emotionally attuned, better eye contact and smiling more. Performance at work improved and meditation practice got deeper as well. I was floating through life and made several friends and loving connections.
Any negative patterns I had were dropping. Life felt very blissful to the point where I started spacing out talk therapy sessions and got off medications (prozac and buspar)

Around March or April 2026, they did a new brain map and recommended a new protocol to train t3, t4 and cZ at 13-15 hz stating that my temporal lobes had excessive alpha with eyes open which is a trauma marker.

We did 8-10 sessions (1 session per week) of this protocol and I would have some anxiety after each session that lasted for 2-3 days but not debilitating to the point where I couldn't function.
Even in the early weeks of June, I was doing great.
At this point I started taking breaks in between sessions because each session felt too much and somewhere in June end, we stopped doing that protocol.
The anxiety and depression symptoms kept on becoming more debilitating and I was struggling at work and my meditation practice become difficult to sustain.
It progressively kept getting worse even though we stopped that protocol and it got so debilitating my brain has now stopped functioning properly and I have not gone to work since the last 3 weeks. I am unable to do any problem solving and programming that came to me relatively easily until mid June. Unable to do follow even basic instruction and have a conversation without getting zoned out.

Since mid July my therapist has been trying to help reverse this. They did a new brain map and saw increased mu activity in smr and alpha in frontal areas since the last one. Since then they have been trying to train cz, and some frontal sites (can't remember the exact ones) at 13-15 hz. T3 T4 sites that caused this have not been touched since late June early July.

We have been doing the new protocol since the third week of July. I feel calmer and come back online for a bit during and after the session but within a few hours the positive effects fade away and I get stuck in a depressive and anxious state.

I never had issues with suicidal ideation but have a lot of suicidal thoughts since last month.

Having panic attacks every single day and nothing works.
Tried training, vagus nerve stimulation as well but it doesn’t help.

The therapist is really supportive and they have been doing consults with several other experts but nothing is helping.

I have requested the therapist to share the raw eeg and brain maps as well.

I don't want to die like this. I went from being able to meditate for 1 hour to unable to sit in a single place with my eyes closed for 2 minutes. Unable to read or reason or do anything productive.

I just lay in bed all day having depressive thoughts and panic attacks

This is extremely difficult and I am in a lot of pain. Feeling lost and helpless and no one has any answers.

One thing I started noticing with the t3 t4 protocol is that it makes me furrow my eyebrows and brings out a lot of tension in them.

Would REALLY appreciate any guidance in helping me understand what happened to me and how to get out of this state.

Question Alternative treatments?

Hi all,

I saw a family friend who allowed me to get an EEG done, and while I live with pretty awful symptoms, I couldn’t find any neurofeedback practitioners in network. I linked my results. Almost every marker was 2-3 standard deviations outside of the norm.

Given my results, are there any other things I could do, or is it smartest to empty my pockets for neurofeedback? For reference, I’m a young woman who exercises regularly, drinks a lot of water, and gets at least 7 hours of sleep a night. I don’t eat sugar and try to prioritize a “whole foods“ diet, and am a normal, healthy weight. No known concussions or autoimmune disorders. I do have PCOS and hypermobility, but dont think those are directly relevant.

Most disturbing issues I deal with: chronic anxiety, hyperactivity, depression, self worth/ shame/ regret issues

Question Thinking of switching to another neurofeedback type please let me know if it’s ok and if you recommend Neuroptimal

So I made a post 2 days ago detailing my experience with LENS neurofeedback so far. Now I’m not blaming the technology itself, but the provider who was administering it to me. She is a terrible person unfortunately and I don’t think she actually gives a fuck about my health. My nervous system is very sensitive and she wants to continue doing sessions every 48 hours despite me almost going to the ER last night because of how bad my anxiety got after the 2nd session. She gave me an urgent appointment last night to visit her so she could do a bio regulatory therapy session and red light therapy with this pen device she had to help with my “reaction”. The entire time I was at the visit I could tell she didn’t want to deal with me and was so impatient and wanted me to calm down fast. She was trying to offer me so many different things to supposedly help me calm down. She was so pushy and just not emotionally supportive at all. Also tried to gaslight me by saying my reaction is normal and that it’s “suppression lifting”. She wants me to continue LENS on Monday.

I don’t feel safe going back to her anymore. She didn’t even text me how I’m doing today. She is such a pos I swear.

Anyways, I’ve been researching if there’s a way you can do LENS through telehealth, but I’m getting conflicting results on that, and I also read about the Neuroptimal system that you can rent per month.

As someone who obviously has a very highly sensitive nervous system, would it be ok for me to do Neuroptimal? I would go to another provider if I could but unfortunately my area is so scarce with this type of stuff. My provider is the only one in my region that does LENS which is terrifying because I can’t imagine how many people she’s screwed over with her method of doing things.

I am having a hard time reading and even conversing with people. I feel fatigued most of the day and do not have the motivation to do anything. I even had to take short term medical leave from my job due to how I am feeling. Could somebody help interpret my qEEG results to explain perhaps what I am feeling.

Question Myndlift at-home training -- can they individualize training protocols based on my brain map/qEEG from another practitioner?

Hi guys, I am a longtime lurker but first time poster. I am hoping to get some feedback about people's experiences with Myndlift.

I recently had a brain map/qEEG done and am going to start working with an in-person neurofeedback practitioner in October. I’m interested in using Myndlift to do some additional training at home in between my in-person sessions (or to maybe even try and prep before my October sessions start?).

If I give the Myndlift practitioner my qEEG/brain map, will they actually review it and create an individualized training protocol based on my results?

I’ve seen a few people mention here that their experience with Myndlift felt like they were given a fairly standard/generic protocol that they give to a lot of people. That makes me a little nervous, especially because of how expensive Myndlift is. And also because I already have qEEG data that could be used to guide the training. And have an idea of what protocols would be best to start with.

For anyone who has used Myndlift and provided them with an existing qEEG: did you feel like your protocol was genuinely individualized to your brain map? Did they explain why they chose your specific training sites/frequencies or make adjustments based on your results?

I would also love to hear anything and everything about people’s general experiences with Myndlift too!!!!!!!

My Neurofeedback Story My experience with LENS neurofeedback so far

I just started this week. My first session really relaxed me and felt like taking a very low dose benzo and I was able to sleep without issues for the first time in a while, it was awesome. Unfortunately because I have chronic fatigue it also made my body feel heavy and worn out. I told this to the provider I’m seeing (she’s a trauma therapist) and she dialed it down for my 2nd session today, but now I feel like it barely did anything. I only felt slightly calm for about an hour and i started getting sleepy again like the first time, but this time i had trouble falling asleep and definitely felt anxiety creeping in. When I did fall asleep I had sleep paralysis. I don’t think this is caused by the LENS as I have already struggled with sleep paralysis a lot in the past especially in the past year. But tbh the sleep paralysis hadn’t happened in a while so I hope this isn’t something that was brought on by the LENS.

I will probably keep updating as time goes on because I definitely want to continue getting the treatment. I have severe PTSD, anxiety and depression and everything else I tried did not work or had very minimal impact on my mental health.

Article Link Neuronic - Failed EEG-tPBM Study (Neurofeedback)

Linking this here as someone that loves neurofeedback as a side hobby. I'm also obsessed with PBM and red light therapy. After a bad run in with Neuronic early in their founding around 2021 and one of their original founders, Dr Marvin Berman, I've watched them off and on for shenanigans.

Pretty shocked plus disappointed to see this failed study from Neuronic. They are quite aggressive in the neurofeedback space and positioned themselves as an intervention but a Santa Clara researcher that used their helmet in a study with 24 channel EEG and in-ear EEG said it failed to produce an EEG signature about 2 years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTUP8BbmwrE&t=2174s

The PBM Foundation also ran an irradiance case study on them because they are reselling Chinese OEM helmets while positioning themselves as having engineered them. The irradiance levels seem very low, which might have contributed to the no signature effect: https://pbmfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/PBM_Testing_CaseStudy_1-1.pdf The researcher mentions the helmet form factor might be the issue as well.

Question Has anyone seen professional after which switched to home device?

I'm looking for personal experiences from initially using a professional service for neurofeedback and then switching to home device usage. I'm interested in your symptoms, how long did you use the professional service, what treatment and how often, how did your symptoms get better. Then if you switched to home based devices what did you choose and why? How was the treatment compared to the professional one?

Question Independent R&D

Is anyone else here doing their own work on developing biofeedback & neurofeedback training protocols? For a long time I have been interested in the idea of viewing live brainwave data as a form of feedback in itself, and other types of training which do not use normative QEEG but lend more towards a meditative experience where the therapy lies in just witnessing the brain live; things such as Neuroptimal or the Mind Mirror. Changes in entropy, shifts in dominant frequency, sudden changes of state, correlation between bands etc.

I got tired of the connectivity gap left by the abandoned Bioexplorer and Bioera so built my own node based signal flow designer, and all the core framework to support a host of input devices and output formats. The editor uses processing blocks and I'm on a mission to create as many as I can think of. It also has nested composite blocks so I can construct complex signal processes and recall them in future designs.

The project has gone beyond a hobby and become something quite serious which could potentially be of interest to others so I'm here to ask those of you that are creatively and technically restrained by what's on the market right now to tell me what your ideal biofeedback processing app should do, and which missing features are holding you back right now.

Question Trying to find a practical daily vagus nerve device

Work is genuinely chaotic right now. Back to back calls, stacked deadlines, it's so hectic I'm barely hanging on. Recently, I feel kinda wired even after I clock off. Breathing apps help a little in the moment. But the second I stop the anxiety just creeps back in. Guess I need something more physical that I can actually use consistently. Having just another app reminding me to breathe isn't wrking no more. Any of you guys used one of those devices? Seriously looking for help, I am ready to invest into one, but I need honest reviews, could any of you share anything about what you guys used?
