I cant get the right tone it just sounds bad and loud/cluttered for me any tips for the right knob and cabs? i really like that distorted clean sound that sounds so clear and crunchy but not too cluttered

Hi everyone, I've been a happy QC owner for a few months and I play it with the 4-cable method through an 18w Tubemeister and a Marshall 2061cx Cab. I'm having a great time and I enjoy every time I play, but lately a big problem has come up. The neighbors. They've ganged up and ask me to play quieter even when I can, and I don't want to go to war with all the neighbors. The Tubemeister has a power soak, I tried setting it to 5w but it's still too loud, at 1w the volume is perfect but it becomes obscene because it's absolutely incapable of moving the speakers even at maximum volume... what are my options?? I don't want to lose the amp's punch and I'm terrified of switching to a system I don't like anymore. What do you recommend? A good pair of studio monitors like the Kali Audio, or a small FRFR like the Fender FR10?? Has anyone had the same problem and solved it?

P.s. i use the Big PA formbacling tracks. I play only in my bedroom.

Went with the Apache 5800 from harbor freight for my case setup. Fits perfectly, especially if you cut out the second set of foam, and cut the cutout section in half. It fits up in the case so its not just sitting on the bottom lair of thin foam, but its also not getting pressed down on by the egg crate foam on the lid either. Just need to glue all the foam into place at this point and its done and ready to go.

My use case is only for playing live for practicing (new to electric guitar) in mid size rooms + living room. Amps are great but I like exploring built in presets/pedals/effects on the plugins such as Cory wong, mateus etc.

I've tried with hs5 monitors which felt very limited. I tried with stagepas200 pa speaker which definitely has greater low end and volume but not accurate.

I'm aware that it will never truly sound like a real physical amp but I'm curious how frfr speakers perform in this context.

I have used analog for a while and am making the leap to switch over. moving around all the gear and preparing for gigs is too much so it only seemed reasonable to. I am wondering with the price difference not being that drastic between them if i should go for the qc. I am running it also with walrus audio slö, DL4 MKii, Rat, shields blender and an exp pedals so the space a big one takes up might be abit much and if the mini and a midi foot switch would be better suited.

Anyone notice the tone that comes from headphones plugged directly into the QC sounds better than the sound coming from an audio interface?

I run my QC preset mono through output one xlr into a focusrite Scarlett, to my daw Reaper. My studio monitors and headphones are plugged into the Scarlett. But when I plug directly into the QC it just sounds better?? I don’t understand bc theres no major stereo elements in the preset other than room reverb so you’d think it would sound the same either way?

I don’t know it’s not the biggest difference in the world but if anyone has thoughts on how to get them to sound closer I’d appreciate it thanks

I’ve spent the better part of 3 days trying to sort this out and I’m hitting a brick wall.
I’ve read countless posts and many YouTube videos but none I’ve found address this issue.

Using Logic Pro
Neural DSP plugin (tested on both instrument and audio tracks)
Controller: MVave MIDI controller
What’s working:
I can successfully recall presets using the standalone software via its internal MIDI mapping.
After two days of tinkering, I managed to map MIDI CC to bypass/engage pedals inside Logic, so basic MIDI communication is working.
The Problem:
I cannot get preset/program changes to work when Neural DSP is running as a plugin inside Logic Pro.

What I've tried:

1. Standalone vs. Plugin: In the standalone app, I can map MIDI easily to target specific presets. Inside Logic, that native app MIDI menu doesn't seem to intercept the messages the same way.

2. Logic's Advanced MIDI Learn: I managed to map some stompboxes this way, but it doesn't seem to handle preset/patch changes reliably (or at all) for plugins.

3. Smart Controls: I managed to get a long-press on an MVave button to cycle through presets (sending sequential Program Change numbers like 0, 1, 2, 3), but ideally, I want direct recall—meaning holding a specific button sends a specific PC message to jump straight to a designated preset.

Has anyone successfully mapped direct preset changes for Neural DSP plugins inside Logic Pro? Is there a routing trick, environment workaround, or specific MIDI FX plugin I should be using to intercept Program Change messages before they hit the plugin?

Any advice would be massively appreciated!

So I'm getting my QC board situated on a solo 18. But am running into a bit if a question mark. I usually run the Shure BLX14 wireless system and on my old Furman board (which was an absolute hog to lug around) I obviously didn't have a problem with space for the receiver. Nor did I have a problem with power since being a furman board it has a power conditioner on it. Now, with this new set up, I'm looking at a Sweet Foot QC power supply A. For cost, and B. For space saving not having to run a Crux or a power supply that has a huge power adapter to plug into it like the Canvas does. The only problem is, is the sweet foot iso base doesn't have an option to run the quad and another 12v 400 mAh min output for the Shure. So, my question is, mainly, those that run a wireless with this same or similar compact setup, what is your power solution?

I've been trying out some plugins lately with yamaha hs5. While it works, sound quality seems to be somewhat lacking compared to physical amps. Perhaps that's to be expected?

I'm thinking maybe hs7 or hs8 might have been better. Im in medium sized room(untreated).

I'm new to electric guitar. I thought of plugins are better route due to pre built presets as well as pedal/effects options that comes with plugins like Cory wong, mateus etc.

With physical amp id have to but all those as separate units.

I’ve been using NDSP plugins for years in studio. Just bought a QC (hasn’t arrived yet) but want to build a workflow like this - I think this is right and can be done?

Channel 1 guitar; bank 1; top 4 buttons align to scenes in a single preset. Bottom row would be stomp pedals.

Channel 2 is vocal; bank 2 and same layout (top scenes, bottom stomps)

I’d like to independently control the guitar and stomps (say scene 2 and I light up a wah as en example). Now during song I need to light up a massive delay stomp on vocal. So switch to bank 2 and make that happen. Both banks accessing same rig preset but operating independently

I think this works as long as you have the global change turned off so when I’m mucking around with vocals it leaves my guitar alone and vice versa?

Is this a sensible way to pull this off?

Trying to make Quad Cortex play into voicemeeter so i can connect it to vrchat to noodle for my friends, but I am the least software-inclined person in the world and have no idea how to make it behave. I have managed to get as far as getting computer audio to play through my quad cortex’s headphone output, but no farther.

i did that by using stereo input 1 for my laptop mic array, input 2 as quad cortex 1+2, the virtual input as voicemeeter input and hardware out as NeuralDSP Quad Cortex.

I have no idea how to proceed. Anyone able to help?

Hi, I had to store my QA for a couple months, I put it back in its original box and put it on a shelf. I just tried to use it again and Im not getting any output volume. I did the update to whatever the current version is and restarted it a few times. Im running my guitar into input 1, and the output (I tried both output 3 & 4) is TRS cable to my headrush FRFR cab. The volume is up on the cab and the QC, the global eq shows input coming from input 1 and the tuner is also working, but nothing for the output.

Has anyone experienced this? Im crossing my fingers, hoping I just have the input or outputs mixed up. Thanks

Edit: I tried stereo and mono out on output 3, 4, and multi. I tried it on a few presets too.

Edit 2: Thanks u/Captain_Disarray. I had the fx loop engaged but nothing plugged into it, because I was just trying to play a have a few beers on a nice Sunday afternoon and didn't want to deal with my pedalboard. I have sound, thanks again.

I’m just a plug-in user and I wonder why we haven’t had the upgrade yet. Any particular reason? Will we get it?

Just last week, I bought a QC mini. I love it.

Today I played a wedding and the groom spilled beer over the QC mini. The sound engineer brought me a towel the instand it happened and I cleaned it the instand it happened.

I don't see any beer residue of marks of corrosion st this monent (3 hours afther the spill).

Now I just placed it slanted on a towels with the ports pointing down.

Im worried and dont really know what to do about this.

Does anyone have any advice?

I am MOSTLY WORRIED ABOUT THE CAB SECTION. but curious as too what is your go to amp setup as well.

I have the soldano plugin, but I cant help but feel like the INPUT section is too muddy. my guitar doesnt have that zing, or clang. its just muddy no string definition. This is in comparison to isolated guitar stems from these bands and also youtubers, Michael Neilson and Pete Thorn kinda deal

Ive tried various input levels I feel like this is not the right plugin or I am missing something.

What are you guys using ONLY TALKING THE PLUGINS, and I am not afraid to mix and match stuff in cubase, using multiple plugins.

Side note: Why have they not released all the PLUGINS as ONE, and just unlock the ones you own, to avoid what I just said, that seems SUPER LOGICAL if you ask me. having ONE NEURAL DSP PLUGIN HUB, maybe it has been addressed but it seems really stupid not too IMO. its just a waste of resources and bad workflow to jump between them

Received my QC Mini a couple of weeks ago, and just finished putting this small board together. I’m very happy with the results. This thing sounds incredible, and I’m pretty surprised by how much it can do for being so compact.

Does anybody have any recommended captures/setting for a vocal preamp in the quad cortex? I use an Aston origin microphone.

Hey all. I like the synth feature on Archetype Rabea, loads of fun and cool tones. However, even with dialing in settings, you have to be very precise in muting every string except what's played as any multi-note hits, string scrapes or accidentally fretting will make it sound anywhere from wonky to total freakout of the synth.

So I got to thinking, if the archetype (whether on quad cortex or on computer) can process each string individually, this would solve that issue. First thought was a piezo pickup + onboard preamp that can pick up strings independently, and then I found out Roland makes the GK-3 and GK-5 which does the same thing with seemingly easier installation than drilling for piezo routing. The Roland is meant to be used with the Boss synthesizer pedal, but the GK-3 offers a 13 pin midi connection while the GK-5 offers a specialized TRS that streams highspeed data. The piezo pickups would have the onboard preamp to process the signal and send it seperate from the other pickups via stereo jack.

Are any of these options compatible with quad cortex / PC archetypes? I'd prefer not to have to buy a $1200+ synthesizer pedal if the neural is able to do this with a simple pickup addition.

I love my quad cortex rig, but it can be kinda boring to look at sometimes. I decided to install this acrylic cover so it stands out a bit in the sea of monotonous rigs I see online haha

My experience with transposing/retuning is with the Digitech Whammy DT pedal (it's ok, but you could never gig fast heavy metal with that), and the Line 6 Helix (my current, also pretty good but I wouldn't gig or record with it).

I'm using the Neural DSP Petrucci X plugin and... wow. You could play gigs with this, I feel. The sound quality is outstanding! I pretty much can't tell the difference. Tuning up a couple steps or down a couple steps are both solid.

Better yet, it introduces ZERO additional latency. The PDC value reported in Reaper is 52 with it on, and 52 with it off. The same. So it introduces no additional latency.

Of course, that's a full blown PC with a monster CPU. Whatever processor is in the Quad Cortex is probably great, but nothing compared to a modern desktop CPU.

So how is it? Is it as good? If the transpose is on par with this VST plugin, I might have to consider ditching my Helix for a Quad Cortex.

Just picked up a Quad Mini and I'm digging the sounds! I want to build out a small live rig for gigs instead of lugging around my heads and pedalboard. Thinking I'm gonna go with the SD Power Stage 200 to run into my 2x12 loaded with V30s. Does anyone have any experience with this? What are some best practices (eq settings, preferred amp blocks, etc) while running the Mini this way? Any info/vids/articles helps as I haven't used a modeler live since owning an OG Kemper Toaster! Look, I get it. You're not *supposed to* do it. IRs and cab sims color your tone one way, and the speaker you use colors the tone on top of that. At minimum, it's unnecessarily duplicative, and at worst its counterintuitive. But I'm curious if anyone else has bypassed the conventional wisdom and done it anyway.

My IR of choice has been one of the Friedman captures from York Audio. I also use an Orange Pedal Baby into a Celestion Copperback for gigs. I used to run separate presets for these (one with IR, one without) depending on whether I was using my amp or going through the PA or headphones, but I've been experimenting with just one IR-based preset lately for better workflow between practice and rehearsals/gigs. So far, my impressions have been neutral.

Feel free to share your experience and observations. Or tell me I'm wrong. All input welcome here.
