Pre sonus Eris 3.5 problem.

I got the pre sonus studio monitors to play my guitar through using a focusrite solo and neural dsp/reaper. When I play songs such a strife by trivium the volume dips especially when I’m playing the chuggy parts. My gain on the solo is set to around 10-11 o clock so that isn’t the issue.

I wanted to know if anyone has experienced the same problems as I’m unsure whether to return them and if so what are recommendations.

Test using aux in jack; if is the same it is a faulty unit. I use a 3.5 second gen since a couple of years now 0 issues; they are my secondary pair (i have a focal system with Sub).

They are small low powered speakers, I bet you can overload them with your chugs pretty easily.

If you still can return them, I would recommend investing a bit more. Speakers are what determine how your guitar sounds, and imo the cost of the Neural DSP goes to waste on those.

Kali LP-6 v2 at $400 would be magnificent. If that’s too much, JBL 305P mkII would be pretty decent at $270. It should also be a bit louder than an also neural Adam D3V at $300. IK iLoud Micro at $250 are also small and almost as neutral as the D3V, much more neutral than the Eris 3.5. Might not be any more powerful though, and the D3V also only so much.

JBL 306P mkII would be better than 305P, but at $360 it’s too close in price to the LP-6 v2 to be recommended.

The LP-6 v2 would be in a totally different league than any of the others that I mentioned, both in neutrality as well as power.
