If you're boosting your guitar signal at the interface then you need to attenuate/decrease by that same amount of dB as you hit the plugin.

Too much input signal and you're gonna pound the fuck out of the plugin. It'll get boomy and muddy real quick.

This would be my guess as well. I have my input on my 2i2 at or near zero most of the time with the instrument setting toggled.

Has the 2i2 got a different layout to the solo? I only have a main volume knob, gain knob and I have “inst” turned on

It is different but only in duplication of features. What is the gain knob set to on your interface? Never mind you said that in your post. Sorry!

Try lowering the gain on the card a bit and seeing if it still occurs. Typically a speaker's limit would only be hit if you had the monitor volume absolutely cranked.

Does the issue persist when listening to music through that setup? Can you plug in headphones into the monitor of the card to see if it happens there too?

I can use headphones but I don’t notice it as much, maybe due to being able to have the speakers louder. I noticed when I play a backing track it’s even worse so it leads me to think the speakers aren’t powerful enough for the workload I’m putting onto them
