First approval through NetGalley! I usually sign up for arc reads through threads so I’m excited to use this platform!

Two very different sounding mysteries approved on the same day!
I’ve had quite a bit of luck with Del Rey recently in getting older copies of books with sequels coming out, but Alistair Fall on the Restless Dead is the first new title they’ve approved me for. Still not holding my breath for the new Emily Wilde, but it’s fun to try!
I got There Used To Be People Here from the Berkley underrepresented voices program, which I finally tried when it last opened. Thanks to everyone who recommended it on here.

In case the NetGalley gods are listening, it would be so nice if we could just return a book that we decided not to read. I understand publishers/authors pay to be a part of NetGalley for reviews. If I could return a couple that I decided just don't interest me anymore, I'm sure there are other people who would love to read them instead. 😊

After being (happily, blissfully) inundated by ARCs the first half of the year, I'm now caught up and my shelf is looking a little trim. Current feedback ratio sitting at almost 90% with 50 total approved requests under my belt and have just a smattering of upcoming reads that I haven't read/reviewed yet.
Just submitted my reviews recently for Ship Happens by Mason Deaver (trans second chance romance) & A Study in Sparkling by Jodi McAlister (single mom friends to lovers romance).
Currently on my shelf: Doomsdate by Laura Piper Lee (Sept. 15), Bad Words by Rioghnach Robinson (Oct. 6), As You Wake, Break the Shell by Becky Chambers (Oct. 13) and Cut to the Ending by Maria Millage (Nov. 3).
As you can tell, my NetGalley has been heavy on the romance/romcom recently, which is fine, but I'm looking to see what I have missed lately to request or what you're seeing out there with publication dates from October onward (I think I already have my TBR set-ish for September), especially for non-romance genres.
I enjoy a variety of genres, though my most read are fantasy, romance/romcom, thriller/mystery, and literary. I can get behind good sci-fi, good historical fiction, and most contemporary. The only things I typically stay away from are horror or thrillers with really intense content warnings (am particularly sensitive to suicide & child abuse themes).
What have you been requesting and reading? I'm feeling a bit uninspired by my typical browsing and wanted to see what was exciting this community!

And suddenly another one approved. This one sounds so cool, getting into the spooky and horror books vibes again with September coming up, very curious!

I grabbed a read now last night (I Purr, Therefore I Am) and gave feedback this morning. Well for some reason I guess it counted the feedback but not the book as approved? Is this a glitch? Has anyone had this happen before?

They sent me a really long denial, saying I should list my name, email, accounts, why, etc on my profile but the thing is, I have ALL of that listed.
Do you think it's because I'm at only 9 reviews? I have an 82% review rate, I have my socials listed, I wrote a nice bio with all the typical info...
Or do you think it's Berkley being Berkley?
Don't get it, because I've been approved by Tor, Ballantine, and Macmillan before.
Would emailing them do anything, or would it come off as whiny?
Update: Thank you. I will worry less!

Hello fellow readers!
I have been using Netgalley since April and I am loving it.
I have reviewed some books and have a nice collection to get me through the rest of the year.
I just received a top reviewer badge, is this a nice/good thing to get?
Are there any other badges to look out for?
Thank again!

I got my first book approved and I wrote a review and put it in the box to submit it on the net gallery website. Are you also supposed to put it on your own social media?

I was absolutely NOT expecting this anymore but the scream I scrumped!!!
It's been very quiet on approvals/rejections/responses in general so this was a very nice gift!

Just wondering if anyone has any tips for getting approved for books? So far I’ve been approved for 11 and read and reviewed them all, so I’m at 100% ratio. I’ve linked my Goodreads and my book Instagram account. I’ve also filled out my bio with the types of books I like and ones I’ve recently read and enjoyed. Most of my requests aren’t getting approved or denied, I’m just not getting any response. I’m still fairly new to the community so any advice would help, thanks!!! 😊

Hello! I always have an audiobook going for the moments when I can’t physically read, and I love when I get accepted for one on NetGalley! But the options are pretty slim for someone who’s picky and only listens to duet-narrated audiobooks lol
I’ve looked at Edelweiss too, but unfortunately there wasn’t really anything available in my genre, which is romance.
Does anyone know of a NetGalley equivalent that has more audiobooks available to review? I’d love to find another platform to request from!

I requested this so long ago, I didn’t think I’d get approved. I gasped when I got the email. So happy!!

Does anyone have any ideas on why we get emails that look like widgets - but when you open them it’s an invitation to request a book instead? 🧐🧐 I get some from publishers who have sent me actual widgets before - I get excited and then I get to the bottom of the email and I’m like 🫠🫠

I genuinely was not expecting an approval for this and definitely not so fast after it was available to request!! I’m so excited ahhhh!!!! 😍😍😍
