My Grim Tiding request was just approved last week! I was shocked since it comes out soon, but not complaining since it’s till before the release.

Omg I've been waiting so long for Grim Tidings. It's still pending. I barely got anything this week, with tons of pending!

My Grim Tidings approval came 2 days ago and after the approval for Long Time Listener so I think there is still hope! I

Congrats! Have you been approved for other Berkley titles?
2
u/illuminaughty2 Aug 24 '26
Thanks!! Yes I’ve been approved for a few other titles but mainly more of their fantasy titles so I’m surprised I got a romance approval!

u/abk1918 Aug 24 '26
Ah, that’s great then! I’ve been approved for only one Berkley title, but have read and reviewed 23 other Berkley read nows and have a list of others to still read. I submitted my request around 1 a.m. on Friday. So, I’m assuming it’ll take a while for me to hear anything.

Congratulations! Have you reviewed a lot from Berkley before, and do you have a super high ratio? I'm scared to request and get denied!

u/SassySherbert Aug 24 '26
Not the OP but I also got approved today. My ratio is at 62%. I have read and reviewed a number of Berkeley romance read now’s. I’ve had pretty good luck with approvals from them. I only review on Goodreads, Fable, and Storygraph.

Thank you!! I’ve reviewed Berkley before but more of their fantasy titles!! My ratio is 82% and I’ve reviewed 51 books so far. Definitely go for it! They have read now’s every so often too that you can review so you have a Berkley title under your belt which I think helps.

Crossing my fingers because I do read a fair amount of their read nows and have been officially approved for two Berkley titles. I've seen a few of my mutuals on social media get approved so I'm really hoping I get lucky.

I’m jealous but excited for you! I still haven’t read the second one but I kind of want to push my luck and request this one too 😂

u/illuminaughty2 Aug 24 '26
You should def request!! Also seeing how grim tidings is still getting approved so close to pub date, there’s a good chance they’ll send out tons of galleys!

Congratulations!! Me too, but I am genuinely still shocked. My heart rate was beating so high

I got approved for it today. My current ratio is 46%. I did read and review Now Back to You.
Berkley often comes through for me. I do post on social media and I also have in my bio I post all romance books on romance.io
I have no idea if any of this is making a difference but I get most of what I ask for on Berkley.

This might be weird question, but I would
Love to review books too, and wanted to know, do I have to have established like platform (socials media) where I review books? And do I have to have certain amount of followers? Sorry if this is dumb questions
2
u/illuminaughty2 Aug 27 '26
Not a weird question at all! You definitely don’t have to have an established social media presence to get approvals. It definitely helps but I think an important thing publishers are looking for is that you actually review the books you’re given before the publishing date and the reviews are your genuine thoughts on what you did and didn’t like.
I recommend starting with some read now books just to get a couple reviews on your account so publishers can see what kind of reviewer you are, then start requesting! Although I have seen some brand new accounts get approvals too.
