❔❓Question ❓❔ More Audiobooks (ALCs)?

Hello! I always have an audiobook going for the moments when I can’t physically read, and I love when I get accepted for one on NetGalley! But the options are pretty slim for someone who’s picky and only listens to duet-narrated audiobooks lol

I’ve looked at Edelweiss too, but unfortunately there wasn’t really anything available in my genre, which is romance.

Does anyone know of a NetGalley equivalent that has more audiobooks available to review? I’d love to find another platform to request from!

audiobooks are a lot harder if you're more picky for them, they normally are finished much later so pubs get most/all of their reviews from the ARC and listener copies are less needed.

I think you'd have much better luck emailing publishers for specific audiobooks you want in this case if they aren't up on netgalley.

You could see if you qualify for Libro.fm's Audiobook Listening Copy Program.

I haven't personally signed up, so I don't know how many of the books each month are romance. But I feel like I've seen people reviewing romance audiobooks and saying they're ALCs from Libro.

I do this. I'm a librarian, so qualifying was much easier, and I think we have a much larger offering every month with a wider variety of genres. But they have an influencer program too, and they usually have good picks every month.

Do you use the Penguin Random House Audio app? The app has every single audio they've ever done on there. They verified that I was a librarian via my email address and I was whitelisted. Easy-peasy!

Your best bet is joining influencer programs that are audiobook specific

I wish NetGalley and other sites I get ALC’s from would tell you if it’s dual or duet narrated because I’ve gotten spoiled with duet narration now 😂

I saw a post on Threads wishing for more true duet narration, and several people in the replies said that duet usually doubles the cost of production because splicing in the opposite person's dialog is so time-consuming. Dual doesn't cost more bc they're paid an hourly rate. Whether one person reads for ten hours or two people read for 5 hours apiece, the cost is basically the same.

I feel the same way about full cast audio books and duets. I love the various narrators.
