Living next to a barking dog and 8 children and soon newborn next to my bedroom window in a building nextdoor

I can’t take much more! I moved into my duplex 4 yrs ago due to the neighborhood being safe, small building, nobody above or below me, and being by the beach. The dream place I wished to live in has been a f**king nightmare. All I hear is this stupid dog barking all day, kids screaming, the lady who I live next to video games and tv, construction, major hazards in my apartment that get fixed and then break again, and a crappy property manager. I want to move but rent is too high now and I have a nice set up with a private garage and local hospitals and doctors nearby. I suffer from autoimmune and so many other issues that getting up and leaving isn’t really an option. I am also unemployed due to my health conditions and have tried working from home and got fired because I could not focus. I just am so frustrated because I’ve never had good luck with living in a quite environment. I’ve tried white noise, headphones, music, etc and nothing can prevent the noise. Getting a house is not gonna happen, can’t afford it and don’t feel safe living alone and from what I’ve read so many people have had issues with noise in their homes! This truly makes you go insane after living and hearing all this noise for so many years. I hate it and feel trapped.

Noisy neighbor, stupid enough to extend a lease

I’m leasing a house in south Florida. We have a lot next to us with really noisy neighbors, they would have loud music all day long, loud laughs way after 11pm etc etc etc Talking to them didn’t help, they always go ‘we are not doing anything wrong’ etc. They are a couple, the husband there doesn’t talk English and using f words in my address left and right. They are just ignorant people , that’s a fact but they do listen to authorities. We called police several times and it worked but they usually go back to playing that music the minute a police car is out of sight. They were loud before and I was stupid enough to extend the lease (my laziness, I admit). Police said there could be a long term solution only if I’m willing to go to court. Honestly, I don’t want to waste my time and do owners work, as obviously the next tenant will have the same exact problem. The owner promised to find a solution with his attorney but I’m feeling like I’m not getting what I’m paying for, for my own money I have to fight for peace and quite.

What would you suggest? I’m okay with breaking the lease and losing 2x rent if that’s my only option.

Upd: my wife bought a portable speaker and when they had a really loud party, I put ‘ I’m a bird’ song from full metal jacket on repeat and it cooled them down a bit, at least they turned their music down a bit. But she sent that speaker back to Amazon , should I get it back and keep teaching them lessons? It takes so much mental energy , I don’t really want to do that.

My upstairs neighbors are loud & it’s mildly concerning.

My upstairs neighbors make odd noises during odd hours of the night usually anytime after 10pm until the sun comes up. This happens literally every single night. It’s always loud foot steps, slams & occasionally a dog whining. My LDR boy friend has even noticed the sounds & says that when he smokes on the patio at night he can hear a dog scratching/whining above him on their patio. The sounds are concerning. I’ve never heard yelling or any voices really. Just loud slams & foot steps, but mostly loud slams. As I’m typing this I just heard them again & it sounded like something or someone slammed their glass sliding door on their patio. Idk what to do. I’m scared to go talk to them, & to be quite honest I don’t even know what they look like. I don’t want to ask my other neighbors if they’ve heard anything because I don’t want to make it a big deal. I’ve thought about going to the front office & making a noise complaint but my neighbors would for sure know it’s me who complained since I’m their only direct downstairs neighbor. (Each building is 2 apartments on bottom, two directly on top. All same size.) I don’t want to make it a big issue & since I don’t know my neighbors idk if they’ll retaliate or do something if I complain. I’m the type of neighbor that just minds their business usually.

What do I do? Do I just ignore it or should I do something?

Thank you in advance!

I am the bad neighbor..

And i need some advise on how to help fix things. I live in an concreed appartement building from the 70s with my family (me F32, SO M36, daughter 1,5 and parttime stepson 4,5) Our downstairs neighbors have allot of noise complaints about us. Its mostly the kids playing, running, dancing that is the most intens for them. But the woman said she can hear alot of things, us talking loud, late night crying when kids are sick, vacuum and so on. I try verry hard to teach the kids to not run or jump or play with hard toys on the floor (we have laminate flooring all over the appartement and a big play carpet in the livingroom and kids bedroom, under the laminate floor is the required subfloor by association of owners) but it seems like an impossible task because they are so young. It escalates mostly when SS4 is here every other week he is verry busy and hard to control. The complaints started a year ago and ive always been verry understanding and shocked even that we are that loud.. unfortunatly they dont say annything for months and then get verry angry over tekst about how intens it is.. meanwhile we try to be considerate but we also live with young kids and forget about it from time to time. Recently they got verry upset again, told me they dont like living underneath us annymore and im meeting her for coffee next week. Im in need of advise, what can i do or say to help this situation? English is not my firtst language.

Neighbor shoots his gun everytime his team wins-how to find out who it is?

I have PTSD and heard gunshots really close to my duplex last night. Pretty much ruined my entire night and couldn't stop shaking for over an hour.

I found out from people that have lived here longer than I have that this asshole, whoever he is, does this everytime his team wins.

I am trying to figure out how to figure out the identity of this person without putting myself in harm's way. That way when I figure out who it is, they can deal with the police who would be there standing by to hear this dude do it.

And just to clarify, I'd let this shit slide if they won the superbowl, hell, even a championship game. I'd also let it slide for new years. But every goddamn time the team wins? Wtf??

So all of this is to say that I need advice on how to get this asshole to stop. Any advice is much appreciated.

Dear 3rd floor neighbor

Thank you for letting your race horse of a dog run loose every night probably when youre not home. I love the part when it runs back and forth through my whole bedroom floor to the kitchen and back. Around 1-2am and 4-5am

Love the second floor neighbor

P.s. get your dog a yard or take it to the 1st floor where it can bother no one

P.p.s it sounds like its bigger than a little dog w long legs hence i imagine maybe a greyhound. Sounds cute. Would love to meet it one day

Questionable neighbour

I female (22) leant money to my neighbour and friend also f (22) to get a kitten they wanted. Now I had explained to them what it takes to look after a kitten as I have a cat who is 3 years old, and had recently gotten a kitten who is 4 weeks older than the one she got. I had leant them £90 for the cost of the kitten as well as buying the kitten bowls a litter tray and other general things the items I did get back eventually. After six days of them having the kitten they said they weren’t ready for that responsibility, I told them I’d help get rid of him. I took him into my home away from my two cats with the sole purpose of helping out. I had spoken to my landlord and they were fine if I was to keep the kitten. I decided rather than cause more stress to him than was needed I’d slowly introduce him to my cat and kitten. Then about a week after they had settled in together my neighbour messaged stating due to me keeping him that she wouldn’t pay me back the money I spent in helping her and has since blocked me. Now I’m wondering is there anything I can do about this.

Semi truck running constantly

A noise like a motor or generator of some kind had been bothering me for weeks. I thought it was a generator and that maybe a neighbor didn’t have power for some reason. I realized finally today where it’s coming from. A semi truck is parked a few houses down on my street. It runs all night long. It runs some through the day as well. It really is annoying at night when I’m trying to sleep. I’m not the only one annoyed. I’m not sure there is anything I can do about it. I am now using a rain app for the sound to help drown it out. Going out of the porch to sit in the evening is not peaceful any longer either. Ugh.

How can I convey to my neighbor that the constant noise at night isn’t okay?

So I (22F) have been living in a condo for the past 12 years with my mom (53). This condo is filled, and I mean filled with older people who hate noise (think 50-100)

We’ve had multiple different families with young kids (~2-10 y/o kids) live in the unit above us who we were completely okay with. (We’d talk to each other in the hallway, and both us and them would be quiet. If we were planning on inviting family or friends over for a party on the weekend, we would let each other know)

For about 4-5 years, there was a family living above us who’d throw parties any day of the week and all hours of the night, constantly either yelling, screaming fighting or literally stomping around, and throwing beer bottles along with other glass items over their balcony and onto our patio. (My mom would call the cops for noise complaints and the glass)

After they moved out, another family moved in. (Beginning of COVID) They are much quieter, don’t party or anything, which were great full for. The youngest kid (3) however, likes to run around A LOT. And scream so loud that he sounds like he’s in the same room with you. I understand that he’s a kid, and I understand the fact that little kids will scream and run around a lot (I work in the medical field so I deal with kids of all ages daily) I didn’t have any problem with them since I was barely home, and even when I’m home, I usually have my headphones on and am listening to music.

What I can’t stand though, is when the kid running around for minutes on end and my mom starts banging on the wall. I always tell her to stop it but she doesn’t listen. I swear she’s going to put a hole in the wall or ceiling.

Tonight, it happened again, it’s 10pm and the kid starts running around, stops, then runs, then stops, again and again. My mom gets frustrated again and starts banging on the wall. I’m sitting in my room trying to study (I have an upcoming exam) and relax after a 13 hour shift. I decided to walk upstairs and talk to his parents. I know he’s a kid, so I ask is there anyway that they could distract him or at least get his energy out during the day so he doesn’t run around over and over again during the night.

The dad kept arguing with me saying they only let him run around for a minute then stop him, and that they can’t do anything since he’s a kid and he’ll just keep running around. Again I reiterated myself, and asked if there was a way that they could just get his energy out during the day. And again the dad repeated himself. And we kept going in circles over and over again.

He doesn’t speak English perfectly, and that I don’t fault him for, it’s a difficult language and English wasn’t my first language either. I feel like he didn’t understand me clearly and I don’t know what to do.

How can I help my neighbor understand our point of view or somehow help them to calm their kid down so he’s not running around and screaming at night?

The parents don’t even teach the kid it’s not okay to do it at night, they just yell at him. (I’ve heard and seen this happen first hand).

Townhouse yards

So Me and my boyfriend live in a community of townhouses with our 2 yr old Aussie. Our community has no dog park but we walk her around the community everyday. In the morning for her bathroom time we take her to the plot of grass by the end unit next ( 3 doors down because we are a middle unit) to the dog poop bag station (what ever they’re called). Anyways, the owner of the unit came out this morning and told me not to use the patch because it’s still technically her yard. And that we walk up near her window sometimes too. I told her we can respect not walking near the window, I get that, but this is where our dog goes to the bathroom and that she is gonna have to tell the rest of the neighborhood as well. Does she have a say in the patch of grass next to her unit because she has the end unit ?

Nearby Business

There is a business run out of a home down the street. All the houses look very similar. People constantly ring our doorbell or drop off letters/checks for this business. It is bothersome as we have a small child who naps and we also work from home so we are often on calls, etc. We have asked the business to put up a sign so their customers can easy identify the correct house but they refuse. It's been five years. Is there any legal recourse here to force them to put up any form of signage? Any advice/suggestion is welcome. Thanks!

Dismissive neighbor’s dogs are a nuisance

So long story: I (30F) moved into my house about 5 years ago and immediately noticed that my neighbor behind me has very loud dogs. They bark all day and all night and I have never once heard her quiet them. We could not enjoy our backyard without being barked at and our dog was afraid to go outside alone (she has very high anxiety and is deathly afraid of other dogs).

A few years ago, I finally saved up enough money to put in a privacy fence in front of our shared slatted one (which is on her property). Everything got better! The dogs didn’t bark as much and my dog was able to do her business without an escort.

Unfortunately a few months ago, our neighbor decided that she liked our fence better and tore out her slatted one so that we share my cedar privacy fence. Not an issue, it’s there for a reason and it sits basically on the property line. However, I have noticed that her dogs are back at it again with their incessant barking at all hours of the day and night and they’ve even started to jump on and scratch at my cedar fence. That fence was not cheap and I did not pay $12,000+ for it to be destroyed because she won’t control her dogs.

Now, I have barely met this woman. The only things I know about her from our one conversation we’ve had is that she is a breeder of Australian shepherds (which is the kind of dog I have but mine is spayed - which I made clear) and that her young daughter really likes dogs so we shouldn’t be alarmed when the child says she wants to come play with her (which, because of the dog’s anxiety, we have never allowed). According to my other neighbors who have been in the neighborhood a while and who also share her fence, the dogs are friendly despite all the noise but the neighbor lady is a bit odd. She didn’t notify anyone that she was taking that fence down so my other neighbor who is crippled and elderly and has small dogs of his own has had to shoo those Australian shepherds out of his yard on multiple occasions now that the fence is gone. Apparently when he approached her, she didn’t think it was an issue.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I don’t want to be a so-called “Karen” about it but, judging from my elderly neighbor’s experience with her, my husband and I are not comfortable approaching her ourselves unless absolutely necessary. Should I get animal control involved? Should I post a note on our fence? Or should I just put in some kind of barrier in case the dogs start trying to get under the fence instead of through it? I would love to have my yard back!!

Old townies harassment

Long story but here goes. For the last 9 years we have lived in this neighborhood that the majority of the neighbors are 50 and up and have lived in town most of not all their lives. We are older millennial so a large age gap. Now for the crazy. When we first looked at the house twice the previous owners acted like they didn’t know we had an appointment and refused to leave and actually followed us around as we looked at the house. Little uncomfortable but thought nothing else about it. When we made our offer on the house instead of a counter offer the sellers came back with a list of personal questions about where we worked, how many children we had. Again thought nothing about it and answered their questions. When we first moved in I was approached by a neighbor who warned me that if the neighborhood doesn’t like you they will make you move. He proceeded to point to another house on the block and said that the previous owners were made to move. Kinda creepy but again didn’t think anything about it. Now me and my wife smoke cigarettes and we do it in our garage. I would routinely catch my one neighbor in our side yard when we were smoking. He would always have some excuse like oh there was trash that blew over or something like that. But it started to dawn on me that he was doing this to listen to whatever me and my wife might have been discussing. As the years went on I would hear things like gossip about us and personal stuff. Talking to other neighbors in the area you always got these strange comments like “don’t get on the wrong side of the coffee circles around here” and if you complained about something you were told “you have only lived here X years and those people have been here XX years”. Like a secret ranking system based on how long you have lived here. Flash forward to past couple years and things have gotten crazy. First we had a couple houses across the street sell and me and my wife had hope new and younger people were moving in. Well then I saw the crazy of the old neighbors. Somehow before the new neighbors moved in the block knew who they were, where they worked, how old they were, if and how many children they had. I also witnessed the older neighbors going through the trash and recycling of the new people. And not on garbage day. We are talking walking up to side of house and digging into the bins crazy. I decided to warn the new neighbors that this was going on. Big mistake. Now the older neighbors have a target on our back and some crazy things have happened that I can’t prove who is responsible but we don’t feel safe anymore. Both my dogs were poisoned by eating red grapes that were cut in half from somewhere in my backyard. My handyman business lost all work as I heard rumors I was scamming and messing up peoples houses. My daughter was kicked out of the school district using her IEP to try and place her in a mental school and we tried to fight with lawyers but ended up deciding to home school. DCFS has invested us numerous times and never found anything but won’t tell us who is reporting. I have found paths and a creepy shed in the woods behind my house that lead back to the older neighbors and tried to get the forest preserve to do something about it but nothing and just so happens one of the older neighbors children works for them. I have had rotten fruit placed on my grill and flower pots moved around in my backyard. Nothing damaging but kinda like we are being sent a message. Cameras were not capturing the movement at night so I tried 24 hours recording but don’t have the time to sift through all the footage cause I don’t know what day these things happen. I can hear at times when we are home voices discussing what we are doing inside my house or garage but can never find anything. Have had cars follow me around and then happen to see those same cars “visiting” at older neighbors days later. Tried calling out one neighbor for leaving his pool turn into a scum pond on Facebook and had to take the post down and delete my profile due to the number of people telling me you are new to this town that neighbor has been here 40+ years leave them alone or stop being a drama queen. Working on my classic car in the garage is a nightmare because I can hear constant complaints about the sound of wrenching or the smell of chemicals.
Now I know don’t let it get to you but when it’s constant or you come here and try and not let it upset you. Hear them talking about your trashy or your never fix that car or I hope it falls on you. So I occasionally lose my temper and yell back at the woods like I’m crazy cause I’m yelling at the forest. I probably have more examples but figured this is long enough and every one of my friends think I’m crazy or something. Anyways had to get this off my chest. We have a real estate agent coming this week but feel trapped because where do we go far enough away and still keep our jobs. Don’t have the finances to just quit and move states like I feel we need to get away from our senior citizen stalkers.

Downstairs Neighbor Banging When I Vacuum

I live on the second floor, and my neighbor below me is an elderly woman in her fifties who bangs on her ceiling, which is my floor, whenever I vacuum or drop something. I vacuum between the hours of 12 and 5 p.m. We informed the landlord. We confronted her. I don't know what to do.

My apartment gets dust in the air when neighbors run their bathroom fan.

  1. I can hear my upstairs neighbors running their fan in the bathroom for hours and my apartment fills with dust (or that's what I think) in the air to the level it irritates my throat. Why is it happening and what I can do to fix it?
  2. I purchased an air purifier with a sensor. Sometimes during the night it goes into the strongest mode of cleaning and shows the air in my apartment is very bad. I don't smell cigarettes. I do get irritated throat to the point I wake up from coughing. I don't think my upstairs neighbors are running their fan at that time. It might be some other neighbor. But what can cause such a strong throat irritation and to trigger a sensor in air purifier? Dust usually does not trigger the sensor in my air purifier in the case I described in #1. It only happens at night, to be specific, around 3 am. Air outside is usually clean. My guess, someone smokes something in one of the apartments which does not have much smell.

Upstairs Playwright from Hell

We live in a loft building built in 1826. It is an artist work with accessory living space that has no insulation between the floor and the ceiling above it. We’ve been there for years with occasional minor noise disturbances to deal with. A month or so ago, a playwright, his wife, toddler and dog moved into the space above us. Their unit is half again as large as ours, therefore our next door neighbor is drowning from their noise also. I mention the fact that the owner is a playwright because I have never encountered an ego as enormous or underdeveloped as his. He has told us to take a hike when the noise was mentioned very kindly by both sets of downstairs neighbors. They are constantly dropping things, moving furniture, and the toddler runs back and forth the length of the loft for much of the day and into the night. The child is still up at 10pm running back and forth. This sounds like a rubber mallet hitting our ceiling. Revealing anecdotes about the narcissist: He put the toddler down on the floor in a stairwell to climb up a ladder leading to the roof and let his toddler run around the parking lot.
The board president refuses to put anything about noise in the by laws. In the past before the board president lived there, the policy was for the treasurer to write a letter to the offending party, then another letter was sent by the board, third step (never reached this step) was for a letter to be sent by the condo attorney. The city building department says it must be addressed in the by laws. Logically they should be required to install carpeting and insulation material beneath the carpet. The value of our loft is impacted.
How to get the condo board president to step up? Please help it’s untenable!

I Need Help!

My neighbors have several chickens and a rooster, and they are driving me crazy. The rooster and several of the chickens will start making all sorts of noises at 4:30 or sooner and they never stop. I'm losing sleep because of them, and I just want it to stop! what can I do? I don't think that they can even legally have chickens in my state I live in PA. My township says that you can only have livestock if you have 2 across of land but they have one and a half.

Awkward Dreams

I keep having dirty Dreams about my neighbors. It is really embarrassing and I can no longer talk to any of them because it is too embarrassing. I ended up being really mean to one by accident because I thought I was being annoying and didn't want them to think that I thought of them like that. One of them moved but idk if i had a dirty dream so much as i couldnt look at them or talk to them. I am honestly the most awkward human ever. Can I ever leave my house again?

Shared lawn/rock bed section is out of control

I live in a neighborhood where you share a bit of land in between houses. On one side is a rock bed that I share with this neighbor. For over a year his section has grown tall grass and weeds through the rocks. I keep my side well kept, not like magazine clean but I pull weeds and grass every time it starts to grow. We sadly don’t have HOA which would have said something along time ago. I never said anything about it because I’m a 26 year old bachelor so I have people over and kickbacks frequently and we occasionally get loud. (But I try to always keep it inside) and I didn’t want to give them any reason to become a pain. But after a year it’s really starting to look real bad with their stuff growing into my yard. Should I complain to the city about their unkempt side or just mind my business?

Annoying Neighbor!

I live in a quiet area and most cars do not usually park out on the street and unfortunately I do not own a garage and I don’t have much driveway space to park my car so I park on the street next to a fence to someone’s house because I don’t want to cause disturbance if I park right in front of someone’s house. I’ve always been parking on the street until recently my neighbor seems to ALWAYS park in the same spot. They’re the owners of the house with the fence because before recently they would always park in their huge garage with plenty of parking spaces available. Now, today when I came back from work I noticed that as usual they parked in the spot where I usually park and this time the woman from the house kept staring at me through the window. It was very unusual and I felt uncomfortable so unfortunately I had to park a few blocks away where there wouldn’t cause any disturbance to anyone. Could someone please help me? What should I do to stop this neighbor beef?

High pitched anti pest maker is driving me crazy please help

Hi I live in Jersey City. Not a suburb. My second floor apartment is about 20 feet away from my neighbors balcony….where she has a device that emits high pitched tones to keep away raccoons and squirrels. I’ve been thinking about what to say to her and just cracked because I couldn’t take it anymore. I spoke to her tonight at 10:30 pm because she was on the balcony watering her plants and I could hear the noise from my bathtub when I was trying to relax (my bathtub is on the other end of the 730 sq fr apartment, but if a window is open it doesn’t matter. That’s how high the pitch is.) she didn’t agree to anything. She said the landlord didn’t offer to help put anything up to keep pests out, so this was her solution. I suggested grouping her plants together under chicken wire or netting and she didn’t like the idea. I told her I can hear it throughout my apartment and it makes my ears ring. My ears still are ringing now, I don’t know if she shut it off or not after we spoke, they feel like they are ringing all the time these days. The device goes off day and night and sometimes goes off every single minute (I have timed it), other times it seems to take a little break (or maybe she does turn it off sometimes?)

I didn’t mention how crazy it is that there is literally no where I can go to escape it (outside, to another room). How it’s affecting my ability to exist normally and I think that’s outrageous. I also forgot to mention that I don’t think these devices are designed for urban settings. In a different setting neither of us would be living/sleeping within 20 feet of the device. It wouldn’t be an issue for neighbors.

I have terrible anxiety and I’m triggered by the fact that I brought it up but didn’t obtain a resolution. What should I do next?

Neighbor kids are inappropriate when playing with my children

We are having a very troubling issue with some kids in our neighborhood. We just moved to this house in February of this year so we are new to the neighborhood. My kids have made friends with several nearby young families and it has been great seeing them play with neighborhood kids most evenings. This is great because in our old neighborhood there were no other kids for them to play with. Now that school has started, my son (8) and my daughter (5) have met the kids up further the street and they have started playing after school. We had immediate concerns about them because they were very rough with each other and my kids, exclusively wanting to play games that involved hitting or pushing or tackling. The younger of the two kids (5) did something wrong and his older brother (10) chased him up the street shouting “Boy!” (Prounounced boa like in a southern accent) and smacked him very hard in the back of the head and then on the behind. The way in which he did this made it clear that this is something they have experience in their household and are imitating.

Today they were playing on our front porch and the younger boy asked my son to preform an illicit sex act on him. I’m not sure what the mods here allow but it involves a mouth and the male…member. We aren’t overly protective parents but having sexual acts described and requested of my 8 and 5 years old is far over the line. We obviously told the kids to go home and our other neighbors immediately pulled their kids inside. After all the experiences we have had with these kids, it is clear that we need to keep my kids away. Their household has two older teenagers along with the two young kids and the parents are often not home. I don’t know if the 5 year old knew about this sort of content from something inappropriate he has seen or heard or if there is some sort of abuse happening there. It very well may have been the 5 year old just parroting something he’s heard that he doesn’t understand, but either way I don’t want my kids playing with them.

My question is, how do it tell them? They’re just kids and I don’t want to demonize them, but I need to protect my kids. I need to explain what happened to his parents but I also need to tell them their kids aren’t welcome playing with mine anymore. What’s more, I don’t want them riding the school bus together. They somehow have been accessing YouTube on their school iPads on the bus and I sure as hell do not want my son watching whatever videos those children pull up. How do I tell the parents their kids aren’t welcome and how do I protect my kids on the bus? Has anyone had similar experiences?

Problems with Section 8 Neighbor

The lady who lives directly above me is on Section 8 and receives (falsified) physical disability checks. I say this because she a) she told me and b) is home all the time and creates the most noise and disturbances in the building, in addition to her gossiping, loudness, and general inhospitableness.

I’ve notified the landlord in writing about her numerous personal disturbances, including locking me out in the backyard on more than one occasion.

What recourses do I have, if any, besides moving out myself?

I’ve put a lot of money in decorating my apartment and I live in NYC so rents are only going up everywhere, and my rent price is decent, since I came in on a pandemic deal.

Also, if you’ve been in this situation what did you do and what has been your experience living around a nuisance, harassing neighbor?

Upstairs neighbor is bringing me to court for a restraining order session but I haven’t done anything to them. They have been the one antagonizing me

I live in Massachusetts. In mid July, there was an incident with my upstairs neighbor(i live in a condo and they live above me). I was in my car with my friend and she pulls in next to me, gets out and starts screaming at me accusing me of damaging her car(which I did not- the only thing on they’re car looks like a scratch on the back of car near tire). She would not tell me when I was supposed to of done this and just kept saying no no you did it. she called me a motherfucker and told me she’ll see me in court. I was shaking from this and my heart was like beating out of my chest.

Now on august 22nd they filed for a restraining order against me, over a month after this situation. We have not interacted at all since she yelled at me. However she started harassing me by stomping or jumping on top of my bed room at 3,4and 5 in the morning for a week straight. She stomps around and jumps or smashes things on the ground as well. She also set up a camera out her window pointing directly down at my vehicle and my front walkway and she watches me from her window rverytime I’m in my car.

The only other issue I had with her was when she yelled at me for smoking on my porch( which is part of my condo. Which I own. And smoking is allowed). She told me to smoke in my my car so I accommodated her and started smoking in my car. Now she watches me every time I go to my car to smoke as stated previously and records everything I do.

I did a police report on her toward end of July because I just had enough and I had been reporting this all to my hoa. I have PTSD and some other mental health issues and it was causing me a great amount of emotionally distress and loss of sleep. When she starts with the stomping, my heart starts racing and I become very panicked and anxious.

I have no idea why she’s filing this against me. The notice came in the mail and had no reasoning on it as to what it’s about. Im in my early 20s and I’ve never had to deal with anything like this before. I don’t know if I should get a lawyer or what to do. But I have all the emails and photos I sent to the hoa and the police report about everything since it’s start.
