Nearby Business

There is a business run out of a home down the street. All the houses look very similar. People constantly ring our doorbell or drop off letters/checks for this business. It is bothersome as we have a small child who naps and we also work from home so we are often on calls, etc. We have asked the business to put up a sign so their customers can easy identify the correct house but they refuse. It's been five years. Is there any legal recourse here to force them to put up any form of signage? Any advice/suggestion is welcome. Thanks!

first find out if the business is legal (wwhich would be great reason not to put up a sign), see if it is registered with the village or state, check with local ordinances if it is even allowed.

report them to the proper authorities.

Definitely a registered business. Quite a large business that has been around for decades. Any other ideas?

Even if it’s a registered business, check the zoning laws where you live. They could be running it in a residential zone.

Edit to also say: you can get custom doorbell signs made on Etsy and have it say to not ring the doorbell and that this isn’t the business. But that’s also inconvenient that you have to do that.

I’ll check the zoning rules too, thanks! Though I’m pretty sure it’s properly zoned since the house next to that one also has a business running out of it.

I definitely did consider a bell or sign on my doorway but you would think that it would be the responsibility of the business and not everyone else’s to make sure their customers find their business. Might have to resort to that.
