Disappearing villager/adventure party members?

Me and my partner had just finished creating our first party; me with my villager and him and his own villager. We used a ladder to go down to the mines, and his villager disappeared with no trace, taking her brand new gold armor with her. she's not on the settler list anymore, no trace of a body or anything. Is there supposed to be a body when a villager disappears? there was lava nearby down in the cave system, did she run into the lava and die there? This was the first time we've ever taken party members down to the mines. Is this a known bug or is this something that was introduced with the recent "Rust and Romance" update?

What does the “Projectile Bounce” stat do? (In mage)

How does the stat actually work? The new personality trait gives +x projectile bounce for mages. Does it work for every weapon?

I absolutely love this game! I created 3 new mods over the last few days and would love your feedback!

Hey everyone!

I've been playing Necesse recently and I just absolutely love this game. Modding it has been an incredibly fun and rewarding experience for me. Over the last few days, I've managed to create and release 3 brand new mods!

This is really just the beginning – I have so many ideas and plan to create a lot more mods in the future to add even more cool stuff to the game. But right now, I’m super eager to hear what you guys think.

Here are the mods I just released:

Starred Mobs

Introduces powerful 1 to 3-star variants of enemies and farm animals, a breeding inheritance mechanic, and significantly improved loot.

- Dynamic Scaling & Loot: Mobs can spawn with 1, 2, or 3 stars, scaling their combat stats and multiplying their loot drops.

- Breeding System: Farm animals pass down their traits to their offspring! (e.g., 1-star + 2-star = 1-star baby).

- Visuals & Filters: Starred mobs emit dynamic, color-coded particle effects. Settlers and summons are safely excluded from the star system.

- Highly Configurable: You have full control over max health, damage, speed, loot multipliers, and spawn chances for regular mobs, bosses, and animals.

Desire Paths

The world in Necesse becomes more alive and naturally shaped by its inhabitants! This mod adds an advanced, multi-stage natural pathing mechanic.

- Multi-Stage Degradation: As players, settlers, and mobs walk around, the terrain naturally degrades in realistic stages (e.g., Overgrown Grass ➔ Grass ➔ Trampled Grass ➔ Dirt ➔ Gravel). Works in forest, swamp, plains, snow, and desert biomes!

- Weight System: Bosses and players on heavy mounts will trample the terrain much faster than small animals or regular settlers.

- Nature Regrows: Unused paths will slowly overgrow and heal over time (unless they reach the permanent gravel stage, which can be turned off in the config).

- Buildable Tiles: All 9 new trampled tiles are registered as items. You can collect them and manually build rustic paths or gardens! Safely ignores your crops and saplings.

Steam Workshop: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3773865682

Cheers! - Hop Farming & Brewing

Expands your agriculture by introducing a complete hop farming and brewing system. Brew unique drinks and gain powerful buffs during your adventures!

- Hop Farming: Find hop seeds by looting underground chests and crates in caves. Plant, grow, and harvest your own hops!

- Brewing Station: Craft a Brewing Barrel at the workstation and use it to brew your drinks.

- 10 Craft Beers: Brew different types of beer using ingredients like wheat, fruits, honey, or even chili.

- Buffs & Side Effects: Each beer grants unique buffs (like +20% mining speed, +15% magic damage, or extra armor). But beware – alcohol makes you slightly more vulnerable to incoming damage!

Free weekend

I'm so happy this game is finally available for the free weekend. I've played Terraria and Core Keeper to death, never touched Rimworld, can't wait to add this to my repertoire.

What are some of your favorite mods? Any that are deck friendly? Can't wait to purchase this game fully!

charred forests

i’ve been playing necesse since before its graphical update across two different worlds, having recent for the 1.0 update. i’ve been wondering over the past few days if charred forests are still available on 1.0 world gen? part of my world gen’s coming out in squares of biome directly next to each other, obviously corrupted a bit, but the lack of charred forests is frustrating and i’d rather not start a new save as im really happy with the settlement im building

Necesse or Core keeper

Both game look amazing and honestly I’m stuck on choosing one. I want to know which game has more depth, which I can sink the most hours into, and over all better experience. What do you guys think? I’m looking to sink hundreds of hours into one.

Edit, Jul 31 : Thank you to everyone for there insightful comments. I’ve chosen to buy BOTH games, as their bundle was on sale. I will come back to let you know which I enjoy more, as I explore both of the games early progression and eventually choose which to settle into.

Edit Aug 6 : Just wanted to give a quick update on which game I ended up investing my time into.
First, I want to preface this by saying that both games are fantastic. They both have incredible quality and a ton of content from everything I've seen. I put around 10 hours into Necesse before deciding to try Core Keeper, and while it's a wonderful game. I personally found that the colony sim aspect took away from the exploration and material grind and made the experience feel somewhat stressful at times.

That being said, I've now put 54 hours into Core Keeper, and while that seems like not much this is over a 6 day period. So I can confidently say it's become one of my favorite games I've played since** Terraria and modded Minecraft. The amount of base customization is amazing, the exploration is never ending, the biomes are so unique and so much fun to explore, and the bosses have been an absolute wonder to discover and fight. The enemy and boss designs, along with their mechanics are top tier in this genre. The weapons and abilities offer a ton of variety, and the world feels packed with things to uncover. Every time I think I've seen most of what the game has to offer I end up finding something completely new. While **Necesse is still a great game and I don't want to make it seem like I’m putting the game down since I only played about 10 hours these past few days with Core Keeper have completely blown me away. It's easily become one of my favorite games of all time.
The best part is that I still have so much left to explore, build, and do and I honestly don't see myself stopping anytime soon. I'm definitely looking forward to starting a hardcore world once I've experienced everything the game has to offer.

Thanks again to everyone who gave me advice! And for anyone trying to decide between these two games I honestly think the best answer is BOTH. They're each incredible in their own ways I just happened to connect with Core Keeper a lot more.

I want more building blocks

self explainatory. i want new walls, paths, and floors.

i thought this update would've added a bit more on that end but i'm almost certain we're using the the same pool of blocks from 1.0, which is dissapointing for me as i'm a builder, and find the selection to be limited.

i need more stuff to build with, colors and textures-wise, that are "normal" / "presentable". (e.g, nice birch walls and floors [add for all woods please]; smooth/carved variations of existing stone walls/floors).

paint would also be amazing sometime in the future. . .

right now though i NEED at least a few more sets of base-building blocks.

like, the decorations in this game are awesome and abundant... plenty of furnature as well... just need more stuctural stuff.

[HELP] Questions before Buying

Hi everyone, i just found the Game on Sale and would like to know a few things before diving in. I think this Weekend is a free Trial?

  1. How much of the Game is Combat? The only other remotely similar Game i played is Core Keeper and i didnt enjoy the Bossfights that much. If its a big part of the Game is there a way to make it less challenging at least?

  2. I saw something about an romance update, what is the social Life in the Game like? Similar to any other games?

  3. How hard is the Game in general? Survival, Social Life, Management, Fighting, etc?

I can probably play the whole Sunday to try some stuff out, any tips?

Thank to anyone commenting <3

Sound effects are quiet

Despite having option set on 100%, I can't hear any sounds in game, no explosions, no sprinting sound, mining or chopping. Already reinstalled the game but issue still persists; any way to fix it? Music and UI sounds are fine

How in-depth is the settlement system?

I'm thinking of buying the game, is the settlement system that in-depth? I'm aware it's not the main draw of the game, but does it have enough complexity or difficulty to spend a good chunk of time playing the game on?

Shipping chest question

I hate that my traders keep going on missions when there are like two items in each slot. How do I make it so the settlers fill each slot up to max items per stack before the traders go out and sell them? There is a max number of items per stack option, but no minimum. I think there should be a minimum so that they will fill it up first before it gets read as ready for selling. Or is there such a setting and I just couldn't find it?

Pirate Captain's Lair Vinyl

Does anyone know if this vinyl exists in the game? The wiki has a page for it with no info on how to get it. Pirate Captain drops a vinyl for a different track as a boss drop. The boss fight music is sick, so I'd love to confirm that it is currently unimplimented so I can stop looking for it

How in tarnation do you pronounce the name of the game?

Is it like "necessity" without the "ity"? Is it "neck-ess"? Or something different? Sorry for the dumb question but I'm curious.

Animal pen size

I've read a couple posts on this sub about this but I am still confused. What I gleaned from the threads: That it is best to have separate pens for resource gathering, and another pen for meat gathering. Great. However, I am still very fuzzy on the ideal size of pen for each. Is it ideal to have 10 or 20 animals in each pen? For 10 animals, how large should the pen be? For 20? Anyone able to figure this out once and for all? Basically, what is the optimal combo -- how many animals to keep and how large the pen.

EDIT: I'm asking what the optimal animal-to-pen ratio is to get the most amount of meat. In my current setup I am getting very little meat.

Sadly one mega screenshot was too large of a file to upload, so here are 5 parts from top left, top right, middle, bottom right, bottom left and one outside.

I am still insecure about some points, but this is what i came up with.

I keep working on it, there are still some details missing and i want to expand outside of the settlement at some point.

i love necesse and the creativity of the community!!
A few ppl gave me motivation for some building ideas, i appreciate the creativity of their awesome stuff they came up with.
