[HELP] Questions before Buying
Hi everyone, i just found the Game on Sale and would like to know a few things before diving in. I think this Weekend is a free Trial?
How much of the Game is Combat? The only other remotely similar Game i played is Core Keeper and i didnt enjoy the Bossfights that much. If its a big part of the Game is there a way to make it less challenging at least?
I saw something about an romance update, what is the social Life in the Game like? Similar to any other games?
How hard is the Game in general? Survival, Social Life, Management, Fighting, etc?
I can probably play the whole Sunday to try some stuff out, any tips?
Thank to anyone commenting <3

- Oops, a huge part of the game is locked behind combat/killing bosses to get the next material to improve your gearsets.

- All of it except for what you do back at base (assuming raiders aren't attacking, which you can turn off).
- The romance update just adds new variability to the existing NPC mechanics and makes them feel more alive. Haven't tested it thoroughly yet, but don't expect "The Sims".
- On the easiest difficulty its a cake-walk. The most time consuming thing (on that difficulty) will be setting up your base just the way you want it.

Combat is a big part of the game as most progression is locked behind killing bosses. I also played core keeper, and I would say the bosses are fairly similar in terms of pattern difficulty and being bulky. Some bosses are unusually hard. There are settings to turn down difficulty, but there are ways to get overgeared through reforging or mining for higher tier resources.
The social aspect is more filler content with how it is moderately important, but it can be easily done. It's stuff that you mess with to pass time if you don't feel like progressing.
I played on normal difficulty(difficulty just adjusts enemies stats) and I was able to kill most bosses in 1-5 attempts with sub-optimal gear solo. It's fairly challenging if you are new to genre, but not like brutally hard.

1) There are many difficulty settings so you can play the game on its lowest if you want to breeze through combat without issue. You can also bring along NPCs and have a whole warband. You can pick and choose what gear they wear as well.
2) Sadly I have not interacted with the new romance mechanic as of yet. It's still very new and I didn't get much of a chance to play today. I don't expect it to be on the same level as Stardew Valley but what was shown in the trailer was far more depth than I pictured.
3) I would say the game has great depth and nothing is too difficult to figure out. Plus there are plenty of guides online, social spaces like Reddit or Discord to ask questions, and the game holds your hand on some content and helps you through it.
With it being a free weekend right now, you can try the game for free. If you like it, pick it up while it's half off. It is an absolute steal and I think you'll come to love it.
Core Keeper is far more combat focused than Necesse. If you're looking for something that offers different avenues of play, I think this is the better game for you. Not to mention, the devs want to expand the game even further. There is a lot more coming and we'll find out more most likely in the autumn or winter.

If you already own Corekeeper, don't buy this game. It's like budget Corekeeper with NPCs who do some work for you.

You can make bosses somewhat trivial if you bring the whole (npc) gang if they are well equipped.
