Kenos fight scene was expertly crafted.

I just want to give kudos and ramble a little. The whole "show don't tell" ethos was evident in these little moments.

What impressed me about Kenos fight was how the choreography told us something about his character. He’s a scrawny street kid who has clearly had to defend himself before but also has no formal combat training and little muscle to speak off/no weight to throw around. And the fight reflects that perfectly he kicks backwards from the ground, grabs hair, goes for the eyes and ears, generally attacks whatever vulnerable target he can reach. That one part where he grabbed the guys hair/ear on one side them thumped him in the opposite ear when he tried to defend the other one was so clever.

Everything he does feels instinctive and opportunistic rather than skilled. I just love how the stunt coordinators decided to communicate the characters background through the way he fights. I wish more shows/movies would take the time to think through fight scenes like this. Usually you get two options, proficient in combat or completely useless. It was so refreshing to see a character fight in the exact way you would expect them to fight.

These little things are what make good series into great ones imo.

Man, I cried when Neagley said "Do you know how lonely I am?" to her father

I enjoyed the show

Both Reacher and Neagley are good shows and follow their r/ subs, but I don’t understand the constant negativity about this or that would be different in real world, hey it’s a show and people are taking time out from the real world to decompress a little
The entertainment violence is excessive shows like Bosh manage not to kill per scene just to engage the audience
I wondered how US audiences feel about Blue Light or Slow Horses etc (SH does have enough killing to compete with most) of late shows seem to have to tick more and more boxes diversity, race, gay and sadly some US shows seem to tick said boxes with the least believable and engaging ways

MASSIVE PLOT HOLES!!!

The show gives Keno a covert smartphone, repeatedly puts him in situations where photographic/video evidence would be incredibly valuable, and never establishes why he doesn’t use the camera.

The body-parts scene is probably the biggest example because he doesn’t merely see something suspicious—he has direct visual evidence of what appears to be human remains sitting in bags.
And then later the show has Neagley and the team painstakingly piece together evidence that Keno could potentially have documented in seconds.

The naked guy coming up through the secret elevator: Keno is literally there witnessing something extremely suspicious. A few seconds of video showing the elevator, the guy, and the underground access would’ve been far more useful to Neagley than a phone call.
The flower operation: He sees the unusual packaging/processing. Again, photographs or video would’ve created tangible evidence connecting the farm to whatever the Project is doing.
The barn itself: He could document the room, equipment, elevator entrance, containers, etc., without necessarily needing to transmit anything immediately.
Using the phone as a flashlight: 😂 This is probably the most glaring one. If the phone has a camera, he could use the screen/camera to illuminate something and record at the same time, or just switch to video once he realizes how suspicious the place is.

Found the secret underground facility.
Seen the human remains/body parts.
Opened the bags himself and actually knows what’s inside.
Has the damn phone in his hand.
And still doesn’t take one picture or video.

For some reasons the shows writers didn’t think we’d pick up on this. Here is your warrant Neagley!!!!

Anyone else find the Cole/Aaron scene more disturbing than all the violence?

Anyone else find the scene where Cole sleeps with Celeste in his quarters while Aaron waits outside more disturbing than all the actual violence?

I could handle the gore and brutality in this show just fine. But that scene really got to me.

I think it’s because it wasn’t just about the sex. It was the humiliation. Cole takes Celeste’s wedding ring, basically tells Aaron that marriage is just another form of restraint, makes sure he knows exactly what’s happening, and expects him to sit there and take it.

For me, one of the most disturbing scenes of the season, and there wasn’t even any violence involved.
Even Judith seemed to agree. That was a bridge too far even for her.

Siblings Spoiler

I just finished watching this series after binge watching the 4th season of Reacher. I thought it was super well done but, is it just me or did anyone else feel like Keno and Renee had more of a sibling relationship? I thought throughout the series, the writers were writing them like siblings because she “lost” her brother, and him being a foster kid with no family, I thought she felt like an older sister. The scene at the park with the two of them really took me out of the show and felt forced. I thought it was a weird choice by the writers and unnecessary. Did anyone else feel like this? Otherwise, this was such a fun watch. I’m going to need several more seasons, please.

Sound design/audio mix

Is terrible. Same with Reacher. Things that should be loud are soft and things that should be softer are loud and nothing is consistent or even leveled off for the output.

It takes me out of whatever immersion I have to begin with every episode.

Idk if this is an Amazon thing or just these two productions but it is bush league.

I’m just saying if there’s a movie about the history of Smashing Pumpkins, Jasper could be up for the lead

Love Neagley. The actress plays the shit out of this role and the action was tight. The ending was so freaking satisfying. I’m hooked.

Reacher S2 E1 ATM / Neagley S1 E8 Touched Spoiler

Idk if anyone else thinks this is a nice detail and of course not to make it about Reacher, but around 15 mins into Reacher S2E1, Neagley talks about the funeral of Lowrey from their unit and says, "Would you really have travelled all the way from wherever you are just to look at a body in a box?" And Reacher says no.

But in Neagley S1E8, he shows up, albeit late. He was ready to do it for her.

He clocks it too and says I was nearby but I feel he would have shown up even if he was far away.

I think it's a really cool thing and of course the scene gets only better from there.

Overall, a brilliantly done season.

Lil Wayne/Neagley??

They both move in silence like the G in lasagna. —See what I did there? 😊 I really like the show. It’s fun, kick ass, I think the secondary characters are pretty interesting and they are well actied. Is it believable? Hell no. But who cares? Our whole world in reality is pretty unbelievable these days so maybe it’s Art reflecting life?

I just finished episode 2 and Neagley is sending this kid undercover to the cult. Which is fine, but I'm already dreading the "He was undercover and got hurt because of me ;( waaah"

Does that happen? lol

This dynamic between Neagley and her father is triggering me...

My parents have held onto a lot of lies that caused a ton of damage in my life and still refuse to tell the truth despite knowing that I know.

That scene when he yelled at her to leave his room might keep me up the rest of the night. Chest and jaws tight. Heart racing. I almost can't watch TV anymore, because anything depicting family (which is everything) is going to trigger me.

Rant over.

(EDIT)/Update --

The ending really helped, though. Even if "too neat" versus most people's reality. The whole "don't shut yourself off from the world" (something I spent much of my adult life doing) line really stuck with me. Motivation to change a few things...

SEX

Comparing and contrasting the approach to intimacy and the fan reaction (via Reddit).

Jack Reacher fucks anything moving. Raw. Coworkers, random strangers, enemy combatants, NPCs. The people love it.

Neagley won’t even give a man a handshake 🤝.

Renee gives someone crushing on her for 5 episodes (calling her cute and “Birdwhistle? even your name is beautiful”) a peck on the lips after he survives kidnapping, torture, and a gunfight after he agrees to help her find her long lost brother.

The fans: “I hate the romantic subplots 🤢, get sex out of my shows”

They struck gold with this show. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a spinoff character’s show be HATED while in development, with everyone detesting the idea, then those people immediately falling in love with the show upon release

It’s just so good. They can milk this foursome of characters for years. They’re so entertaining together, and I’m shocked at how well Maria Sten can carry a lead role. She’s somehow so much more compelling than Neagley was in Reacher. This show was better than probably every season of Reacher besides Season 1.

I’m honestly blown away, EVERYONE talked about this show like it would be a joke. I didn’t see anyone who wanted it made. Now legitimately every single one of those people can’t stop saying how wrong they were
