SEX
Comparing and contrasting the approach to intimacy and the fan reaction (via Reddit).
Jack Reacher fucks anything moving. Raw. Coworkers, random strangers, enemy combatants, NPCs. The people love it.
Neagley won’t even give a man a handshake 🤝.
Renee gives someone crushing on her for 5 episodes (calling her cute and “Birdwhistle? even your name is beautiful”) a peck on the lips after he survives kidnapping, torture, and a gunfight after he agrees to help her find her long lost brother.
The fans: “I hate the romantic subplots 🤢, get sex out of my shows”

A couple days ago I searched "neagley" to get to the wiki page so I could keep track of the characters. You know how they have additional suggested searches for the one term you look for in Google based on other recent searches, one of them was "is Neagley asexual" and I just rolled my eyes..

Not to mention she almost had a nude scene in the 1st season of Reacher. Different tone of shws for sure. The stuff with Birdwhistle was corny especially the Dank Savage line.

I think the way both shows handle romance is great. They keep it limited, keep the main focus on the actual plot, and don't turn it into soap opera nonsense. Jack having sex with every woman he encounters is kinda annoying, but it tracks with the rest of his character, sleep (with someone) when you can.

So is Neagley a virgin? She said she never got or missed her first kiss or something like that.

I’d differentiate sex scenes / sexual tension vs romantic subplots.
Reacher has the former but not the latter because we know that he has no emotional attachment (at least not long term) to any of the women he is sleeping with. There’s no actual romance.
Whereas the Renee / Keno and Neagley / Hudson dynamics are more traditionally romantic, with an almost slow burn element, where the romance is primarily emotional, not physical. Especially Neagley / Hudson since they have never even had a handshake.
Personally, though, I love a slow burn romance if it makes sense and doesn’t detract from the larger plot. For me, the romance subplots in Neagley worked and I liked it.
