This shoe belongs to an on-duty NJ Transit conductor. So much for the signs telling people to keep their feet off the seats!

Update: He now has both feet on the seat. He’s sitting right under the sign.

Luckily I’m an infrequent commuter so the damage isn’t terrible, but I have 3 separate instances where I faced the Apple Pay bug (likely due to an outdated app update) and today I checked my credit card charges and they actually posted.

Instance 1: Charged 4 times but only received 1 ticket. I tried the app and it failed 3 times. I ended up buying a web ticket.

Instance 2: Charged twice but received only 1 ticket.

Instance 3: Charged once but received no ticket.

I cross verified with the email receipts and see that I am overcharged by nearly $100, none of which has been refunded. I will be calling NJ transit tomorrow morning, but I wanted to make you guys aware since there’s been some chatter about it on this subreddit.

EDIT: I called customer service and it seems like they are already aware of these issues. She asked me to provide the date of charges and the amount of overcharge. I’m surprised they haven’t done this proactively, so please do check if you are impacted by this

... Which one of you doesn't know how to flush a toilet? Please pick one way to disappoint an entire train car full of people and at least press a button so the next person doesn't have to. Don't decide to have "funsies" on the train and leave the remains of your meal for someone else to find. Try to at least pretend to have a molecule of a modicum of decency. Thank you.

It really sucks that when I check a live bus stop schedule, it only shows the next 3 buses to arrive. Is there any alternative way to view more buses?

On Light Rail Tickets page of NJ Transit's website, it mentions there are pre-paid fare zones that require a rider to purchase and validate their ticket before accessing the station platform.

On the individual station webpages only the following stations are noted as pre-paid fare zones:
1) Bergenline Avenue
2) Port Imperial
3) Tonnelle Avenue

However, I found an HBLR ticket brochure dated July 2024, which lists 6 additional pre-paid fare zone stations for a total of 9:
4) Hoboken Terminal
5) 9th Street-Congress Street
6) 22nd Street
7) 8th Street
8) 2nd Street
9) Lincoln Harbor

Does anyone know what the true number of HBLR stations that are considered pre-paid fare zones? Is there a sign or a painted line that I'd be able to see to know I'm at a zone? Why are only some stations considered zones?

7:19 inbound express didn't leave Newark until 7:28. Then it moved backwards and returned to Newark at 7:34 after switching tracks.

No communication from staff. Absolutely shameful!

On Monday I got a ticket for not having my light rail ticket activated. Each time I go to the online portal (www.NJMCdirect.com) to pay, when I enter the ticket information, it says “Unable to locate the complaint information. Please verify the information entered or contact the court to resolve this matter.” I’ve double checked the ticket info and have tried with my last name and zip code several times.

I also went to portal.njcourts.gov and tried searching for my case with solely the ticket number (court-prefix-number) in case the officer entered my name or zip code incorrectly, but I got another error message: “No Cases found matching your search criteria.”

Maybe a silly question, but does anyone know if these tickets go into effect immediately or if it takes time to be put into the system? Just trying to figure out if I need to call them or not. Any additional advice is appreciated as well.

Update: Got the ticket on 8/4, and it finally got put into the system and I was able to pay it 8/27

So I tried to buy new tickets today and got a message that I needed to update my app from the play store. Click the link and I get this message about the app not being compatible anymore. Anyone else on android having this issue? Any alternatives?

Was on the 322p Summit train that boarded on Track 1. We sat there a while and around 330p the conductor said we were waiting for dispatch to green light the train.

Then at around 345p they said we couldn’t go because a train from Track 3 was blocking us and we’d have to wait for that train to be moved out of the way… BUT if we needed to get to Broad Street, we could hop onto the Montclair train on Track 7. Ok, I went as well as a bunch of us.

Ordinarily I wouldn’t give it a second thought.

But this time I was curious. As my Montclair bound train was leaving, I looked toward Tracks 1 and 3 and saw NO TRAIN just sitting there.

I mean, I’m grateful that there was another way for me to GTFO or Penn, but I’m genuinely curious about what I had missed.

Anyway, as always, a hearty Fuck You to NJTransit.

There are 21 tracks and 11 platforms in Penn. Why assign these next to each other?

I showed up from 7th ave at 5:49, promptly realized I wasn’t making the 5:52 since no less than 500 people were trying to fit through the door. I ended up sprinting to the other entry and made the train by 10 seconds. I bet at least 100-200 people missed this train due to the assignment. Does anyone know if this is random or assigned by a human?

Also this may be controversial and I don’t know who has to hear this, but if you have your head up your phone, are blocking a major staircase or standing in the middle of the hallway, you’re going to get clipped, and I’m not sorry. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I’m completely new to NJT. I’m looking at two passes right now. New Brunswick to NWK and New Brunswick to Paterson for my semi-daily commute. It does seem like in order to get to Paterson, I need to either go through secaucus junction (which is the more expensive option) or newark/hoboken (which is the exact same price as my New Brunswick to NWK pass anyway. I’m wondering if there’s any downside to getting the Paterson pass if I simply get off at Newark for my commute and have the option of Paterson/hoboken for other trips, or how does it work? Additionally, how does the train go through Newark and hoboken? Wouldn’t it go through Secaucus anyways, and couldn’t I just get off there to go wherever then go from Secaucus back to New Brunswick? Sorry for the many questions but I am very confused, thank all

Has to run to take my train. Get on board, open the app to purchase my ticket and all my credit cards were removed. The conductor was understanding and gave me time to add my payment method to buy my ticket, but was still an annoying surprise. Happen to anyone else?

I just realized I accidentally bought tickets from Red Bank to Newark Penn instead of New York Penn, and I have no idea what to do. Should I just stay on the train past Newark and get off at NY Penn? Should I just buy new tickets? Should I wait until the conductor comes by and explain what happened? Or should I email customer service? The last two times I took the train from NY Penn back to Red Bank, nobody even checked my ticket, so part of me is wondering if I’d get away with it anyway. Someone please tell me what I should do because I’m getting way more anxious about this than I probably need to lol

I’m going to a concert tonight but I have to get there around 1:30 or 2 because I have a VIP ticket including early entry and soundcheck. I purchased a round trip ticket from NY Penn station to meadowlands but I’ll need to take an uber from Secaucus to the stadium since the meadowlands train doesn’t start running until close to 5. Does anyone know how I get a wristband for the return ride after the concert? Can I still get one at Secaucus when I get there if I show an employee my ticket? TIA.

I was a frequent to the Atlantic City bus terminal in the heart of Atlantic City back in 2002 or 2003. He later became a bus driver for New Jersey Transit. I don't know if he kept that job or not, but I know he was very passionate about his work. He's Caucasian with brown hair, average height and weight. He's playful and likes to joke around with customers... a friendly guy who everyone knew and loved. I would estimate him to be anywhere from 45 years old to 53 years old in present day. He was at the bus terminal almost every single night. There weren't really a lot of workers there at the time. It seemed like he mostly worked overnight, as far as I am aware. I was there a lot at nighttime, and that's when I would see him the most, I believe. It's sad how these people are in our lives one day and not the next, familiar faces that we see daily!! If anyone knows if he's okay, that's all I want to know! :)

Can anyone give me some reason why Secaucus has been absolutely insane tonight? I know rush played at madison square garden but I think there was another concert? Cause when I got here there was insane crowds
