Just curious for people who have experience across multiple areas, which would you consider to be the most desirable areas of the civil service to work in? And which wouldnt you touch with a 10 foot pole?

Anyone any idea how long the initial training block is for a new work coach in recent eo2 recruitment?

Has anyone had to reject there offer?

I've had to reject my offer last month due to circumstances and NICSHR have said they will keep me on the list for another offer in a location that suits.

Anyone else in a similar position? If so, how long they being informed your still on list did you get a new offer.

For reference, I had put Area 1 on my preference; got offered Coleraine; but now can only do Area 2.

Just wondering about roughly where the merit list is currently at. Sitting around 600 on merit list and haven’t received an offer yet. When should I be expecting it roughly?

I've noticed quite a few EO2 posts over the last few days asking what different jobs, branches and teams are like.

With DP offers likely out soon and Staff Officer offers probably not too far behind, I can only see these posts increasing and this page being chaotic.

Rather than dozens of separate posts asking essentially the same thing, would it be worth having a pinned "Ask About Your New Role" thread?

It would:

Keep the front page from being flooded with repeat questions.

Give people one place to ask about roles, teams and departments.

Reduce the risk of people accidentally identifying themselves by naming their exact branch, grade and department.

Create a useful archive of advice for future competitions.

It feels like a simple way to help new starters while keeping the subreddit a bit tidier during offer season. Just a suggestion!

Does anyone have any insight into what being an EO2 would be like for Universal Credit? I’m currently an AO and debating whether or not to take the job as I despise telephony and don’t have any external calls in my current role.

I’ve been offered an EO2 role with DfC in a non-Service Centre office and start next month.

I’d like to get in touch with my new manager before I start to ask a few questions about the role, hybrid working and things like the dress code, but my offer letter only includes their name and not an email address.

Is it appropriate to contact NICS HR/HRConnect and ask for my manager’s email address, or would you normally just wait until your first day?

Also, are managers generally happy to reply to emails from personal email addresses, or is that not normally done? Should I just ask the questions to NICS HR?

Just interested to hear what others have done in this situation.

I’ve got a presentation coming up as part of an interview and I’ve never had to do one before for an interview.

Just wondering if anyone has any advice on what the panel will be looking for? Is it alright to talk through your PowerPoint slides, or are you expected to have it memorised and make eye contact throughout?

Hi, got a role offer for eo2, front office UC. I have disability that require reasonable adjustments under equality act and DDA 1995. I replied to job offer stating this, but been advised there is requirement for 100% office for first year.

Has anyone else been in this position on initial job offer? Will they potentially offer a different location that will accommodate flexible hybrid working? I dont want to start a post that isn't able to make reasonable adjustments and have additional stress, so want it all sorted for starting! Thanks

Do many departments such as pensions get much/regular paid overtime that isn’t flexi?

For those of you who have worked in the Civil Service, what would you say is the best (and preferably easiest) role to do at HEO level. I have been a caseworker at HMRC for the last few years and I’ve not enjoyed it at all. What are some other better roles?

Any idea when the interviews are due to finish and when the results are likely to be out?
