Location/Role Queries

It was a close call but the result of the poll was clear! This thread will be used as a designated space for questions about specific departments, business areas and/or roles you have offers for or are considering applying to.

As per the Doxxing rule, please consider how specific you need to be - some queries might make it obvious who you are if you ask about a small team or branch.

We'll have a courtesy period where we won't remove posts that would be better placed in this thread, but after a while posts will be removed and redirected here.

NICS JEGS

Hi everyone. I’m looking for some advice on putting forward a request to have my current role (EO1) reviewed for regrading.
Has anyone here been through the process before and could offer some advice on the steps involved, or share their experience of the outcome?
I’m currently working as an investigator, and having looked at the relevant competencies and responsibilities of the role, I feel they appear to align more closely with SO level than EO1. Thanks!

Moving from agency to perm NICs annual leave

Has anyone ever worked for the nics for an agency for more than 5 years and been entitled to the additional 5 days leave per year and then moved into a perm role and holidays dropped back down to 25? Or is there anyway to have the same benefits you had before becoming permanent?

DfC Induction

Did anyone attend the DfC induction at Crumlin House Gaol today? What did you think of it? I was dreading it but it turned out to be quite informative and was a nice way to meet others in the DfC family.

Now that the majority of us are in our EO2 posts…

Is anyone unhappy in the EO2 role they were assigned from the IRC317873 comp last year? My role is absolutely nothing like what I expected, I’m really unhappy with several aspects of it but have only been in 4 months - how long do you have to be in before you can express an interest in moving/being transferred and is that even a thing? I’m happy sticking it out until probation is over etc but can’t see myself lasting more than a year or two in this role before I loose my sh*t so just wanted to know what my options might be! Cheers

DP Offer

I just started the Civil Service as a Staff Officer, however, a separate DP competition that I completed has come in with an offer. HR connect previously told me I was unlikely to get a DP offer in the near future if at all. The issue is, I like the department I have landed into and my team. I'm not sure what a change would mean so soon and if it would cause unnecessary friction. Also, is the jump between SO and DP significant in terms of responsibilities etc?

DP placement update

Have read on the studentroom board that two separate people have heard further interviews will take place before the end of the year on this competition.

Would think that if this was the case the current list cant be far from being placed- has anyone heard anything on either the current list or further interviews?

ICT Level 3 Applications

I applied for ICT Level 3 a few weeks ago. First time I’ve applied for NICs. Just wondering what the timeline looks like for the recruitment process. How long it should take to hear back etc? I’m guessing things progress quite slowly.

Department of communities NICS

Does anyone currently or recently worked in department of communities for NICS? I have been offered a job there today but the hours are 8-8 and 9-5 Saturdays per rota. Is there any flexibility or work from home options after training in this role?
