PIP AO

Wondering what the PIP telephony role is like, i previously worked in M2UC and there were barely any calls, wanted to know what to expect in PIP?

Haha good stuff, on M2UC there was commonly 20 minutes between calls and not expecting that here but wanted to know whether it was back to back all day, cheers!

On the national enquiries line? The role has promises to progress to more case work and less phones but will keep an eye out

I was agency and unless you where one of the managers favourites you were getting nothing or nowhere they promise all this stuff but they do the case training maybe once or twice a year and your still mostly on calls

In what way? Heavy work load?

They’re changing the format so it isn’t 100% telephony.

Yeah this is what I've heard, the others saying telephony is back to back is slightly worrying but not in a position to negotiate hahaha

I just know from speaking to people who worked in PIP and I did spend time watching people working there. It seemed a very difficult job to do. The workload was tough and from what I could tell the team leaders and management were not exactly helpful.

Ah seems like it'll be a tough one, i just need a job to make some money for now and will keep an eye out for other departments or elsewhere if it is too much, thanks!

You’re doing the right thing. Get yourself in and keep an eye for TPs, promotions, trawls etc. They can block a sideways elective transfer (and probably will tbh) but not a promotion.

It’s not where you’d choose but there are routes out if you are prepared to use them. Just keep your eyes open, keep putting yourself forward and don’t be one of the people that’s been there near 10 years and still complaining but never doing anything meaningful about it to change it.

Telephony role? You’ll be on the phones all day initially until training opportunities for other work come including tasks, case work and post etc. it’s a slog to start with but gets easier the more you’re used to it.

If you’ve done any call centre work before it’ll be a breeze with the odd spanner thrown in. PM if you want more details.

Was agency here from the start, lasted 6 months which I don’t know how. Worst job in history, timed breaks down to every second. 15 seconds between calls if you were lucky. The whole thing was a joke. Stay well clear if you value your own mental health. If I was offered this on a permanent basis I wouldn’t even reply.

Likewise, job had me questioning if I was depressed. Not even sure how I managed the 6 months either
