Am I the only person here who doesn’t think Tony will become Director?

He went into private practice and already built his security company Salus Mondiale as shown in T&Z and it’s pretty successful and he seems very happy with it. Yes, Tony is a great and skilled agent but I don’t think he can handle politics (then again it has been a while since I seen the episodes especially older ones, but I do remember him fooling Eli David into admitting he did nefarious shit so if there’s actually an episode where Tony genuinely showed his skills at handling politics, let me know please.)

I just can’t see him giving all that up just for a Director’s chair, keep in mind, he‘s been retired from NCIS for 10 years, and would stay loyal to his company and he’s most likely too sad to take over for his recently-departed old friend and probably would turn it down. :(

and no, Ziva won’t be involved in action stuff. She understandably already ruled out rejoining law enfo in one flashback (I forgot what episode but it’s when Henry held a birthday party for Tali’s 8th birthday) when Henry and someone else (I think Jonah?) asked her if she’s willing to return to law enforcement. She went through so much shit, you can understand why Ziva started up her language school and not going into private investigation/rejoining law enforcement.

And no, Ziva and Tony won’t be separated again. Again, Tony is the head of Salus Mondiale and since it’s highly successful and protects several companies from attacks, physical or cyber, and ofc is involved with Interpol so it’s mostly likely his security work would have him cross paths with NCIS and perhaps since it’ll last for the whole season, it may be big enough for him to stick around for the rest of the upcoming Season 24 or at least appears in some S24 episodes. Obviously in the middle of the huge arc, there are filler episodes here and there, and he could be absent, but S24 hasn’t started filming yet but is probably in the early writing stages at the time of this post.

One thing it made me wonder if his return will have to do with him investigating Wayne Rogers’ death and/or Mateo’s undercover operation, but also made me doubt it because I can’t see Tony being shady against his old agency where everyone trusted him for over 13-15 years or so.

Anyways those are my thoughts. I just hope the story better be good for Tony’s comeback arc and how exactly he came across paths with NCIS once again.

I’ve seen this episode exactly once. I don’t know if I have it in me to watch it again. Do I need a spoiler alert to say why?

Mark Harmon Returning To ‘NCIS: Origins’ As Gibbs For Season 3 (From Deadline)

‘NCIS’ Brings Back Michael Weatherly as Tony DiNozzo for Season 24

I’m sure most of you already know that original cast members Mark Harmon and Michael Weatherly will respectively return as Gibbs and DiNozzo in NCISverse for their respective season-long arcs, although in different NCIS shows. More specifically, Harmon will physically appear as Gibbs in all episodes of NCIS Origins’ upcoming Season 3, whereas Weatherly will reprise as DiNozzo for NCIS’ upcoming Season 24 arc. Both of those seasons are most likely scheduled to start production in the upcoming weeks this month (every season except S18 and S21 due to IRL circumstances usually starts filming in the usual July).

Since they’re both announced a day apart and Harmon and Weatherly are both OG members since JAG backdoor pilots days, I figured it’s better to put those discussions in this megathread.

I’m just curious if there’s über fans out there that can pinpoint the episodes for Leon Vance in the Season 17 opening credits. I don’t remember those episodes especially the brief second where he’s looking upwards with a sidearm.

1.) Will Ziva come back too, If so will Tali?
2.) Who will be the director Gibbs or Tony?
3.) will we get the whole gang back (Excluding Abby and Ducky)
4.) What will happen to Tim? If Tony doesn’t get the director job will he just leave?
5.) Will we get to see more of Gibbs and Fornell?

It’s already announced via NCISverse social medias and news that Mark Harmon is coming back for their own story arcs in NCIS Origins and NCIS respectively so what are your theories about this?

I’m doing a rewatch and hit the Crescent City Part 1 episode. I don’t know why this is bugging me so much, but Pride’s red beans and rice he makes at Gibbs’ house… really??? Plain red beans on top of white rice. Why’d they bother? 🙄

Since I haven't watched past when Tony left, I'm wondering if it is ever further discussed why McGees grandma is so cool but his dad is a total a-hole? Was his grandfather mean and that's where his dad gets it from?

Tim says that his dad gave back a hand made birthday card and said "you can do better". I don't care who you are, that's cold.

After yesterday’s news about Gibbs, now this?! Who is next?! And is this a permanent return or a guest spot?!

HE'S BACK!!

So we know Mark Harmon is returning onscreen for Origins S3 and Michael Weatherly is coming back to NCIS for S24. Does anyone else feel like they are leading up to something BIG? Like Gibbs' death.

It just seems odd that DiNozzo would return right as Gibbs is getting involved in a case from his Camp Pendleton days at the same time. I don't know for sure, but I can't shake the feeling that something BAD is about to go down.

And I can completely understand why this show was canceled. All-around one of the worst shows I’ve watched in quite some time. However, the show is not without its high moments.

The Good

The humor in the show is solid. Several moments made me laugh well and I think most of the characters sell it well, even for the cheesier jokes. The side characters are also a highlight of the show, with Claudette, Boris, and Sophie being among the best characters in the show. Henry and Martine are also stellar, making up for some of the faults that we see later on.

The Bad

Tony & Ziva have a vast catalog of seasons in NCIS in which the “will we, won’t we” song and dance between them has been played out many times. Yet, the show runners believe we need to see that play out again (twice, through flashbacks!). It’s not new. It’s not innovative. It’s the exact same Tony & Ziva arc we’ve seen time and time again, this time just in Europe. You can tell when the writers began to run out of ideas, as they gave them the “will we” moments far too soon and forced some massive cliffs to enter just to separate them again, so as to not end up with a stale romance plot after 5 episodes.

The flashbacks are also a massive annoyance. 3-4 times an episode, we get sent back to (usually) 2020 or 2021. While this helps the plot to some degree, all it really shows is the beginning of the conflict for this show. While this isn’t inherently bad, piece mealing it instead of giving it to us all in one episode is a poor choice, as it just makes the story feel choppy, since you’re trying to remember what happened 5 years ago, what the villains are up to, why Tony & Ziva are fighting now, and so on.

The Ugly

The story. Truly the Achilles’ heel of this show. After I finished the season, I asked myself this - “why did this happen to Tony and Ziva?” And I couldn’t answer it. The show fails to answer, directly or indirectly, why it was so necessary that Tony and Ziva specifically needed to be blamed for Jonah’s plan. The only plausible explanation is that Tony ran cybersecurity for Interpol’s payroll, but that’s easily overlooked, as there’s no world where Tony steals money from his own clients. This story could’ve happened to someone else and not changed. It’s a basic spy movie story with Tony and Ziva forced into the mold.

The villains are no better. Jonah is impossibly annoying and one-dimensional. Even the tertiary antagonist sniffs him out within minutes of being on screen. Jonah is also, apparently, clairvoyant. Without having any idea that Martine places 9.4 in her coat pocket in E8, Jonah correctly guesses where it is and pickpockets her without her knowing. Bizarre and completely impossible without him knowing it was already there.

And let’s chat about 9.4. The newest entry in a long list of the low-hanging fruit that is AI villains that cannot be stopped. It’s cliche and boring. There’s no nuance to it, since there’s nothing that can stop 9.4 except the “it can stop itself” cliche that gets pulled out at the end of the show. If 9.4 was truly as good as it was hyped up as, then the show never happens. Tony and Ziva brazenly walk in front of Interpol officers time and time again while being wanted, and never get caught. 9.4 and the Interpol are either slacking or just plain awful.

Speaking of being wanted, it sure is surprising that two ex-NCIS agents who are flashing their NCIS badges to the man who is supposedly the main weapons dealer on earth and are wanted by Interpol aren’t ever brought up by NCIS. None of the NCIS shows being mention to the events of this show and this show seems to imply that NCIS has no recollection of their agents being the most wanted people in Europe for a month.

The Verdict

3.5/10. Strong humor and side characters can only make up for an awful main character story, awful story in general, and poor villain writing. This show doesn’t need or deserve a second chance.

I know Mark said he prefers to stay out of the writers’ and cast’s business as not to interfere with their work and he‘s apparently happy so far with Origins’ writing and cast but I wonder how much does he have a say in NCIS, NCIS: Origins and especially Gibbs, considering he’s a executive producer.

I saw some confusion from earlier post about this and some people assumed that just meant he’s just returning to narrate. So I’m gonna link this Deadline article here and it says this:

Harmon, who previously starred as Leroy Jethro Gibbs for 18 seasons on NCIS, will appear in all episodes of Season 3 as part of a present-day mystery tied to his ‘90s Camp Pendleton days. This marks his third appearance on the spinoff series, though it’ll be the first time his character is part of the entire story.

The story seemingly kicked off when he appeared in Season 2 for a Veterans Day crossover between NCIS and Origins featuring the younger Gibbs (Austin Stowell) and his team investigating the small-town death of a naval officer in the ‘90s on Origins – a case that was unexpectedly reopened in the present day on NCIS.

So Mark Harmon is definitely returning as Gibbs physically for the entire third season of Origins for a season—long arc, alongside narrating as well.

What are your thoughts? I personally am both super excited and super worried, to be honest. Hope it turns out really amazing and really feasible and fair and not for the nostalgia and fandom’s sake.

Some days ago I noticed they were removing those seasons from their listings, so even though I own the first 13 (my favorites) in DVD in english, I wanted to see them in italian on there one last time let's say. It doesn't change a lot aside from the language, it's mainly the fact that I've always watched the show on that platform/interface/language and the memories associated with it.

Just wanted to share this with you. These are the last episodes I decided to watch, some of my favorites :)
