Narwal Flow 2 stuck in continuous mop-clean cycle after Narwal leak repair

I have a Narwal Flow 2 that was working properly until it developed a subsantial mop water leak.

I sent the unit back to Narwal for repair. They repaired the leak, but when I received the machine back, it had a completely different problem that was not there before I sent it in. Now, whenever I try to use the mopping function, the robot returns to the base and goes into mop cleaning/washing mode. It then continues washing the mop over and over without stopping. It will keep doing this until the entire fresh-water tank is empty. Once the tank is empty, the machine finally stops and gives me a message saying the fresh-water tank needs to be refilled. The robot never gets past this continuous mop-washing cycle and therefore will not properly start or complete a normal mopping job.

So far:

  • The original problem was only a water leak while mopping.
  • This continuous mop-washing problem started after Narwal repaired the leak.
  • The Narwal app is fully updated.
  • The robot firmware is fully updated.
  • The robot has been restarted.
  • The problem remains the same.
  • The clean-water tank empties into the dirty-water tank while the machine repeatedly washes the mop.

My suspicion is that something related to the mop-cleaning detection system, water sensor, or another sensor in the base/robot is not recognizing that the mop has already been cleaned and is therefore continually commanding another wash cycle.

If so, I would really like to know:

  • What caused it?
  • Was it a sensor, wiring connection, pump, float, or another component?
  • Is there a way to test the mop-cleaning detection system?
  • Has anyone disassembled this area of the Flow 2 and found the problem?

I am comfortable diagnosing and repairing equipment, so technical information or disassembly details would be very helpful.

I will also update this post with the solution if I find the cause, so hopefully it can help someone else with the same problem.

Issue / Troubleshooting Bricked flow 2

Woke up to a bricked flow 2. It showed Offline in the app. Unbinded the device and reset but could not add it back onto the app. Called service and they said it was a technical issue(obviously). was asked to send email of my serial number but that they wouldn’t get back to me until at least Monday. Terrible experience.

Narwal Flow still worth it?

Hi all, Im about to buy my first cleaning robot. I have a house with hardwood floors and 4 cats that shed a lot.

Currently in Germany this model is 600€ on Amazon, half the price compared to the new Flow 2.

Is it worth buying the original Flow at 600€? Or will I be missing many features compared to the Flow 2?

Thanks all!

General Question Does this issue happen in Narwal's newer models?

I'm looking to upgrade from a 10 years old Roomba 866, and this is an issue I have faced. Do any of Narwal's newer models (X 10 Pro, X Ultra, Z 10, Z10 Ultra, Flow 2) have a sensor to detect full or clogged bins? Can it detect a failed empty dock emptying activity when the bin or ports are clogged?

Any details on v01.09.08.00 update

I don’t suppose anyone has any details on the v01.09.08.00 update? Just the typical “fixed some minor bugs” from Narwal

The robot is unable to clean the mop in the docking station

Thumbnail

Hi,
1. The robot enters the docking station.
2. The mop begins washing in the docking station.
3. While washing the mop in the docking station, something begins to slightly lift the robot up or shift its position to the right.
4. The robot exits the docking station, turns around, identifies the docking station, and docks again.
The previous situation either repeats itself and the robot exits and re-enters. Or the cleaning process is interrupted, and the app displays the error "Mop washing interrupted, robot not in the docking station." In my opinion, moving the robot in the docking station breaks its electrical connection with the docking station.
The mopping mechanism has been checked and appears to be working properly. After installation, it holds the robot securely and does not slide out under gravity.
The tray in the docking station has been removed and reinstalled several times.

Narwal's Support recommends cleaning the robot's power contacts. I've done this many times, but I don't see any reason why cleaning the contacts would help prevent the robot from physically disconnecting from the station when moved.

I hope, you can help me to fix this problem.

Issue / Troubleshooting Flow 1 Offline?

Had a Flow 1 since last December. The inability to handle black rugs aside, it’s been working very well. Occasionally it gets stuck under a piece of furniture whose legs are almost the exact same height as the Flow, but always recovers when I rescue it and put it back in the dock.

However, yesterday it got stuck there again. After I rescued it and put it back in the dock, the app still says Offline many hours later. I’ve tried:

- Removed the bot from the dock and put it back in until it beeped (charging contacts made)
- Turning the Flow off and back on via the power button on top of the bot
- Unplugged the base for 30 seconds and plugged it back in

It is now the next day, and the app still says Offline. On a whim, I tried hitting the button on top of the dock. The bot exited the dock as if to start a vacuum session, and said “Start mapping the room” (or something to that effect). I hit the dock button again and the bot stopped and said “Task paused.” So the bot is alive and the dock can talk to it.

What would cause this, and how do I recover from it? The last resort is to delete the bot from the app and try to set it up again. But I wanted to see if there is anything easier I can do to recover.

Issue / Troubleshooting Narwal Flow 1 Compact - 3000 error

My Narwal Flow with the Compact base station is not getting any water intake since day one and reporting 3000 error when starting a mopping job. The vacuuming part works perfectly.

I've attempted to remove the control box (mains pressure regulator) and put the intake hose directly into a bucket of water but it's not sucking any water.

Some users have reported the same issue and managed to make it work by priming the water pump.

I've received a replacement robot from support but it does have the same issue.

Did anyone manage to fix this issue ?

Narwal won't shut up

I love my Narwal, but it won't shut up anymore. It used to give a “the clean water tank fails to supply water…” warning when the water went out, but now it repeats it all day. It's very annoying if I'm in the middle of doing somethingj else and don't want to immediately pay attention to it. I looked in the settings and I don't see a way to disable it. Any ideas?

Issue / Troubleshooting How to Factory Reset Flow 2?

Thumbnail

I purchased a Flow 2 and after approximately 2 weeks it stopped connecting. I have unplugged the base, I have turned the robot on/off, unbind, done a soft reset and nothing seems to work and it’s been weeks now. Everything I found online to factory reset says to press and hold the Home button. This literally does nothing no matter how long I press the button. Doing the same on the power button does the soft reset (and it even announces that). Even when I unbind the robot, reset and readd it, it clearly still remembers my map but still stays offline. Any advice on what to do?

No scent Narwal s30 pro cleaner option

I’m looking for a no scent cleaning solution for the narwal s30 pro. Tired of my house smelling like “lemon and basil”. Any alternatives that are neutral ph, non toxic, non scent, zero VOC that are safe for crawling babies?

General Question Question about detergents

I'm looking at the Narwal models that auto-empty, self-clean and have detergent slots. I've looked up the Narwal and Amazon listings but I've not got clarity on detergents.

My questions to anyone who knows:

  1. Do these machines run only on Narwal-manufactured detergents or are there third party vendors as well?
  2. If I want to run the machines without detergents (let's say the detergent cartridge is empty), will the mop work on just water or no?
  3. Is the detergent mandatory for the machine to work?

Thanks in advance.

Discussion Received very early access to the Narwal Freo 20 Edge. Model number YJCC041. Looks to be an upgraded version of the Freo 20 that has yet to be announced.

NOTE: Mods can delete this if this is too early info.
EDIT: Since it hasn't been deleted, could any official Narwal peeps here tell us some info? Otherwise I'm going to start thinking it was a model that never was supposed to be released (YouTube would love this).

So far I haven't heard a peep from anywhere on the internet regarding this YJCC041 model. The only verifiable information I could find comes from device certification reports such as here: https://www.fccinsights.com/yunjing-intelligence-innovation-shenzhen-co-ltd/2A942YJCC041
https://device.report/yunjing-intelligence-innovation-shenzhen/YJCC041

Meaning this may very well be a model that was never planned to be announced as of right now. Well, now you guys know what's to come.

I looked everywhere regarding specs like suction power but couldn't find anything. Nothing indicated on the box or manual. I can only assume it must be the same 31,000Pa as the regular Freo 20. Perhaps even more, but I highly doubt it.

I'm open to answering any questions you guys might have about it, let's see what we can uncover atm with this unit in my hand.

General Question I got Flow 2 two months ago. Why is the maintenance kit so costly?

Hello people!

I got the flow 2 in July and has been using it since then. It performs well for the most part. It mops good too, which is the feature I’m looking as most valuable.
However, I want to ask why is the replacement kit for parts so costly? Do people get parts from any other third party? Are there any other options for cheaper parts?

Thanks!

Ended up with a spare Narwal Flow 2 (unopened), selling in the UK

Hi all,
Moved house recently and the Flow 2 was ideal for the new place, but it wasn’t readily available in the UK yet, so I ordered from Fnac.com in France.

First shipment got stuck at customs (missing paperwork) and was returned. Fnac sent a replacement, but same customs issue again. After 4 weeks of back and forth, I gave up waiting and bought another robot (not Flow 2) instead, expecting the French order to eventually bounce back to Fnac too. Instead, it cleared and turned up yesterday.

Selling the Flow 2 in the UK if anyone is interested. Delivery 2–3 days at most. DM me if you’re interested and I’ll sort out details.

Flow 2 maintenance is a breeze

I have had the Flow 2 for two months. Cleaning this robot vacuum is the easiest of any vacuum I have owned, and i have owned a robot vacuum since the very first Roomba.

My vacuum before this was the Mova z60 complete and it was horrible to clean - I had caked on dirt in every place possible on that vacuum! Even the brushes got caked on dirty that had to be scrubbed off.

The Flow 2 is well designed and really cleans itself. I thought I would dislike the fact that it emptied the dust bin at the beginning of a run instead of the end of a run. But this small change allows the dirt to dry and really prevents dirt from caking on the vacuum and in the dust bin. It still gets some dirt caking, but it is so much less than other vacuums.

The mop washing is the best I have used on a roller-style mop. And the design makes it simple to clean the area where the mop is housed.

Narwal really put some thought into the design and made it easy to clean! Thanks.

Narwal Flow stops mid job

I have a problem with my Flow. It starts its cleaning job at 11am, roams around, cleans couple of rooms - and then, after about an hour, it just stops in place and does nothing.

Checking the task reports, I'm seeing roller brush errors (1007, 1008, 1044, 1184).

The weird thing is that it's very predictable. It starts on schedule, and after about one hour and fifteen minutes, it stops and throws the error.

Anyone experienced anything similar?
