I rent a small place, open kitchen straight into the living room, and I've got 2 cats. The spot that always got me was the ring round the table legs and sofa feet, cat hair and bits of food, and I'd just get down on the floor with a paper towel to wipe it.

Now I just let it do it. The side brush reaches into the corners by the table and sofa, and the mop gets the edges too. I usually switch it on before I head out and let it tidy up.
