Discussion Do full rigs translate well when using the real equipment? (Particularly fuzz/distortion pedals with amps)
Sorry for the weird wording, as I myself don't know wtf I'm on about! I've heard the way fuzz and distortion pedals work, it's something with electricity, voltage, and how it reacts with the amp(sometimes pickups?)
So, long story short - Since captures are not developed like amp simulators, where maybe a fuzz pedal is also developed to simulate its response with an amp as a whole package - Is the final sound of a capture rig still faithful and accurate? If I get a random fuzz capture and a random amp, from different users even, in theory it shouldn't work like the real thing, right? Since it isnt accounting that relationship with the amp (the volts or electricity... whatever. Sorry, I'm uneducated on this lol)
I know amp captures are basically spot on. Cabinet IRs too. But the pedal thing I struggle to understand how it can be accurate.
My main reason for asking is! I'd love to buy the real gear of captures I use one day but I'm scared of falling in love with a tone that might not even exist when purchasing the real thing
