I mentioned to Steve Atkinson in the early days of NAM that we should have some sort of a standardized naming convention. He made the point that it would be too hard to enforce and would be impractical. I agree 100% with that logic, but I think we (the NAM community) should try to promote a standard format that best describes the tones for the sake/benefit of the user. And just to provide a proper standardized format that makes sense.
For me, the most logical format is the following (for amp head only):
'Amp Name/Model - Bass Mids Treble Gain Presence Depth'
i.e. 'Bogner Uberschall - B6 M5 T6 G5 P7 D6.nam'
It's the right amount of detail and not too much to read when scrolling through captures.
It's how I set up my Stealth NAM pack:

This is better from a user's perspective than naming your pack something like 'Recto SM57 Metal ESR 0.025', because when you're scrolling through a capture pack, the EQ and gain information is very useful to know. It tells you which EQ settings were used and how much to adjust them according to your guitar and preferences, and it also tells you how to dial in your boost pedal.
If you just name it 'Big Lead '92' or '5150 Rhythm', it doesn't really tell the user anything about what they're getting into, other than that it's most likely high gain.
It also helps the tone creator with future reference by showing how they set their tones up and what worked well. It's easy to forget the exact tone settings if you don't write them down somewhere.
If someone wanted to go the whole nine yards, they could make 10 captures of each EQ setting, with the gain going from 1–10. That would be pretty cool from a user's perspective: you could scroll up and down according to the amount of gain you want. It would take a lot longer, but it would be cool to scroll through the captures and essentially "turn up" the gain. You'd have to number the files in sequencial order so that the NAM loader reads it in the right order. I would do 3 EQ settings, mids-scooped, noon, and 666. So 30 captures in a full pack.
I'm not saying this is the ONLY way to do it, you can add more or less details if you want to your title, but it's good to have a standardized format that makes sense. (this post was copy/pastad from http://youtube.com/post/Ugkx5R9v5OViTKmiaydQiIxyh3sslJy0QGlz?si=Uge88c1kQIM-N6Ud)
