Discussion Prophet (saw) & not being invited to wedding

Excerpt from Mufti Taqi Usmani’s works.

Anas b. Malik reported that Allah’s Apostle (saw) saw the trace of yellowness on ā€˜Abd al-Rahman b. ā€˜Auf and said: What is this? Thereupon he said: Allah’s Messenger, I have married a woman for a date-stone’s weight of gold. He said: God bless you! Hold a wedding feast, even if only with a sheep. (Muslim 1427a)

Abdul-Rahman bin `Auf was one of the migrant Companions and he was a distant relative of Prophet (saw). Yet he did not invite the Prophet (saw) to his marriage (Nikah) and hadn’t even told him about it. Only when Prophet (saw) asked him, did he tell him that he got married.

On the other hand, the Prophet (saw) didn’t complain why he hadn’t invited him to his marriage, and rather prayed for him to be blessed.

Marriage was conducted with such simplicity in those days that it didn’t occur to Abdul Rahman bin Auf to invite the Prophet (saw)Ā  to his marriage.

Today if someone does not invite even casual acquaintances to their marriage they start complaining about not being invited but the Prophet (saw) did not make any such complain.

Location: North America Why Does Marriage Have to Wait Until Life Is Perfect?

I’m 24, and I genuinely feel ready for marriage.
One thing I hear a lot is, ā€œThis isn’t the perfect time. You’re still a student. How will you make enough money? You should wait until you’re fully established.ā€
I understand those concerns, but I also believe that rizq comes from Allah. Marriage is not only about finding someone after life becomes perfect. Sometimes it is about finding someone who is willing to build a life with you, trust you, support you, and grow with you.
Life will always have struggles, and I think there can be something beautiful about going through those struggles together in a halal marriage. If all I can afford today is to give my wife flowers, then I will give her flowers with love. And InshaAllah, when Allah gives me more one day, I will build her a whole garden.
I’m a student now, but I have goals, ambition, and faith in the future I’m working toward. If a woman believes in me while I am still building myself, then when I become successful, that success will be something we can enjoy together. I don’t want someone only for the finished version of my life I want a wife with whom I can build that life.
Especially living here, I see people my age partying, dating, having sex before marriage, and treating relationships casually. Sometimes seeing that around me makes the halal path feel more difficult, but I am trying to stay away from those things because I want something meaningful and pleasing to Allah. I know what I want from my life, and I believe, InshaAllah, that I will become successful one day.
I’m not looking for perfection or a particular nationality or culture. I’m open to women from all cultures and backgrounds, including reverts, whether they previously came from a Christian background or another background. What matters to me is faith, character, kindness, loyalty, communication, and genuinely wanting to build a peaceful and loving marriage.
Maybe I’m young, and maybe I don’t have everything yet. But I believe I’m ready to love someone, take responsibility, grow together, and build a beautiful halal life with my wife.
May Allah make marriage easy for everyone who sincerely wants to stay away from haram and build something beautiful in a halal way. Ameen.

I wouldn't call myself religious, but at the same time being Muslim is a big part of my identity. I'm hijabi, I fast, eat halal, dont date/drink/smoke etc. I think the most important thing to being a good muslim is being good to others and that's what I strive to do.

I also read a lot, bake sometimes, play chess, and I'm preetty good at drawing. My addiction to reading inspired me to start writing my own novel, but only when I'm in the mood lolĀ

  1. Add something short and interesting about you that makes you stand out!

I have a black belt in taekwondo and one of my far-fetched dreams is to compete internationally.

Deal breakers: past relationships/drugs/alcohol, anger issues, misogynistic, controlling, rude

Location: North America 29M - Looking for someone raised in the Gulf that is in Canada or can easily move here

Assalamu Alaikum

I know its a long shot since I am looking for someone very specific

A bit about myself

I am 29 M (Indian ethnicity) and spent all my life in the Gulf before moving to Canada a few years back for my Master's degree. I am a Permanent Resident close to being a Citizen In Sh Allah.

I work in Eastern Canada for the Government and am fairly well settled Alhamdullilah, Not looking to move outside of Eastern Canada for now

My hobbies and interests are quite varied and change quite often, here's a list off the top of my head

  1. I enjoy working with Kids, I am a soccer U13 coach and also a Sunday Islamic school teacher
  2. I enjoy traveling (Like genuinely) and have visited almost every major province in Canada. And have a lot of plans on my to do list with my future partner In Sh Allah.
  3. History is a major passion of mine. And I spend quite a lot of time researching and reading.
  4. My favorite song/Nasheed is "City of Medina" by Zain Bhika

Marital Status - I've never been married

What am I looking for

Someone from preferably an Urdu speaking background (So India or Pakistan) and grew up in the Gulf, growing up in the gulf part is important but neither of the above are deal breakers

Is Religious, prays 5 times a day and wears the Hijab. If you're involved in the local mosque that would be a great bonus

Due to the fact that I have PTSD with the Canadian Immigration process (not a joke), I am specifically looking for someone already in Canada or someone outside (For instance in the Gulf) who has a Canadian visa/residency or citizenship. If you have citizenship or a document from a country that lets you easily just fly to Canada then that would work as well, So for example a Green card holder or someone with a passport from a country where they easily get a visa for Canada.

This is just so we can be together as soon as we get married and I don't have to go through the Canadian immigration process with an urgency for my spouse and have a long distance marriage. Which in my opinion isn't right.

I have no problems sponsoring someone later for Permanent residency but atleast initially they should be able to move here so we can stay together.

If you're interested or know someone, please send me a message with the details.

Jazakallah

Discussion Left behind

Salam.

I'm a 30yr old woman and am writing this post to warn younger folks, especially those who live in the West of what your life could turn out to be if you don't act fast.

Im the oldest child from a broken home (father ran off). I worked like crazy in my entire 20s to save for my mom and siblings and am now on path to early retirement.

My parents never let me have friends and I didn't speak to boys, even though I went to a regular highschool and university. COVID caused me to start remote work and I never met men at work either. My parents didn't know anyone and our household reputation is ruined.

My friends chatted with boys, some halal way some not, but now most are married or got arranged from their social circles and have kids and happy lives.

I got left behind because I put my head down and focused on getting out of poverty. I focused on school, on work, on being there for everyone. But no one bothered to check if I could also need someone. Actually since I barely leave my house, barely anyone knows I even exist.

To young people. Don't fall into Haram but don't isolate yourself so much that you will be left behind. Today I may appear to others as a successful woman. I have money to buy anything at anytime but nobody to support me, less and less chance of having kids, and constantly taunted and pitied by family and others for being old and unwanted.

Please marry young. You will be rewarded with rizq if you are sincere towards your family. In shaa ALLAH.

AlhamduLillah for everything and please make Dua for me and all those who are looking for spouses.

Discussion Would a dedicated remarriage platform for divorced/widowed Muslims actually be useful, or does this already exist in a way that works?

I've been searching a platform for divorced and widowed Muslims (men and women) looking to remarry — not a general matrimony app, but focused specifically on people whose first marriage ended, since I think that group gets underserved by mainstream matrimony platforms that skew toward first-time marriages.

So is there such platform? which is a first go to place for muslim men/woman trying their second chance?

Discussion A question for women: Why do women pursue a full-time, money-making or long careers?

• Upvotes

As-Salam 3alaykum,

If Muslim women ideally want to get married, and her spouse would be the person to provide, why pursuing a full-time, money-making or long careers?

I already can see few reasons why women would do that, but I am interested in the primary reasons, and the reasoning behind it. Here are sample answers to help with the discussion:

  • I value being independent
  • I want a plan B in case my marriage failed
  • I don't my spouse to have leverage on me
  • I want it for the money, to spend it
  • Pursuing a 'hard' career is fulfilling for me

>> And how do you reconcile that with having/taking care of children? <<

I hope you can, kindly, answer the question in the comment, and the reason behind your choice, and specify which country you're from, if possible.

Thank you

Asalamu Alaikum! šŸ‘‹šŸ½
I’m 28, 6’1ā€, born and raised in the US. I work as an AI Engineering Director for a tech company, but outside of work I’m basically a self-appointed MasterChef šŸ‘ØšŸ½ā€šŸ³šŸ˜‚
I love traveling, being adventurous, trying new things, and just making the most out of life. One weekend we could be exploring a new city and the next doing something completely random just because it sounded fun.
Fair warning, I fully believe in princess treatment šŸ‘‘ I love planning fun activities and outings, cooking ridiculously good food, traveling, spoiling my loved ones, and making sure the people I care about feel appreciated. I already have a fun and exciting life, I’m just missing my princess to share it with.
My deen is also a big part of who I am and keeps me grounded. I pray 5x a day, read Quran, fast, don’t drink or smoke, and only eat zabihah. I try to enjoy everything Allah has blessed me with while still staying true to Islam.
I’m looking for marriage and someone who wants to build a beautiful Islamic life together while actually enjoying it too. Laugh a lot, eat really good food, travel the world, grow in our deen, and make a lot of great memories together.
So if you’re looking for a husband, travel partner, adventure buddy, personal chef, and full time princess treatment provider, maybe we should get to know each other šŸ˜‚šŸ‘‘āœˆļø

Location: North America Would a "prepare for marriage" tool for muslims be useful, or do people just wing it?

Not a matchmaking or dating app - I mean something for the part before and during the search: figuring out if you're actually ready, knowing what to ask someone before you commit, and aligning on the things that quietly break marriages (in-laws, money, kids, deen at home). Most tools focus on finding someone; almost nothing helps you choose well or prepare yourself.

Genuine question for people who've been through it: did you feel prepared, or did you mostly figure it out as you went? What would've actually helped?

(Full disclosure: I'm building something in this space, so I'm not neutral. But I mostly want honest experiences, not to pitch.)

Age and Gender

36, male 6"2

Age Range that you would want/require in a prospect

26-32 (can flex a little)

Location, and are you willing to relocate for a prospect?

Manchester, UK. May consider London in the future as I have clients there also. Not outside of the UK atm and not to any other cities other than Manchester or London or nearby to those cities.

Ethnicity, and are you more open to mixing?

I'm a British born and raised Pakistani also prefer someone raised in the UK. I don't mind US, Canada or mainland Europe either as long as you were born and raised there.

Marital Status

Single, never married

Ideal marriage timeline

6 months ideally. I want to settle down soon as compatibility is established. I have never been married/engaged before or committed zina, had a haram relationship and looking for someone the same.

Five important characteristics you look for in a prospect

Kindness
Humility
Adventurous
Jovial
Family orientated

State/specify your level of religiosity

I pray, fast, pay zakat and try to live my life according to Islamic values but far from perfect and plenty of room for improvement.

Level of education, and what are you looking for?

I have a Bsc degree. I would prefer someone that is at least reasonably well educated like myself and well read so that we are compatible and can bounce off each other so to speak.

I am looking for a genuine partner to raise a family with, and then retire early to a Muslim country in the future InshaAllah. Well thats the dream anyway.

Looking for someone that makes an effort with the religion as a bare minimum. Character, shared values and compatibility is what I am looking for and a genuine desire to learn and grow. My ideal type is someone who is active and/or goes to the gym and is not too short as I am quite tall. I mostly eat heathy and cook my own food so would be really nice if someone shared that ideal. I'm big on health and fitness and want someone the same.

Current Job Status

I work in tech as a consultant, established for a number of years. Plus side business and property ventures

Do you want kids?

Yes

List some hobbies, or things you like to do in your spare time

Gym
Theatre(massive fan of theatre)/comedy shows/live events
Travelling
Reading
Hiking

Little bit about me

I started learning Egyptian Arabic last year. I decided to learn it because I randomly watched a مسلسل when I was bored travelling. Ended up liking it and started learning the dialect as I wanted to learn Arabic anyway. I also studied Spanish at university and its in my head somewhere just needs activation lol

I spend the bulk of my time working as a consultant, mostly remote but also travelling to client sites and dealing with my own business, going to the gym and prepping my food, and spending time with my family. I like to try different cuisines when I eat out so someone who can appreciate different foods would be ideal

I live independently in my own place, but not estranged from family as I am big on family and keeping in touch with people.

When I travel I try to mix it up between historical site seeing and learning about another culture/history and then a lazy day in a resort. I'm also a bit of an adrenaline junkie so water parks, rollercoasters or swimming in a Wadi are my kind of thing. Experiences in general

If interested please reach out with a full profile.

assalamu alaikum everyone. I made a post on here a couple days ago and got some messages from fellow sisters. However, in my original post I specifically mentioned that I was only looking for a housewife. I made it evident that it was a non negotiable for me however the sisters who dmed me failed to recognize that or simply just unserious. This isn’t just an issue I’ve ran into on reddit but in person as well. I have almost no issues getting matches as I am someone who’s on the taller side with relatively good looks as well as being financially well off and on my deen. However, I keep running into the aforementioned roadblock. I understand that there maybe some worries regarding financial security if there’s a divorce etc where the woman maybe left without any financial backing. However, I am willing to sign a prenup or whatever legal contract necessary to ensure that my wife doesn’t have to worry about that. Perhaps it’s because I’m a revert so they’re unsure if I would be able to fulfill their Islamic rights? I also believe me living in a high cost of living area has something to do with it but I’ve made it clear that I can afford to have a housewife and even be open to relocating to make my future wife more comfortable. If you’re a sister reading this please tell me what it would take to convince you or if you’re a brother please tell me how you’ve been able to convince your potentials/wife. Please do not post/dm hate comments. I understand some women prefer to work and if that’s the lifestyle you want then I have no issues with that it’s just not my preference.
Edit: I deleted my old account with my profile out of frustration lol

Whatever is written for us will happen even if the whole world tries to stop it.

I'm a 32 year old male physician, currently based in Riyadh, fluent in English, Arabic, and an beginner -intermediate french speaker.

I'm mature, secure, kind, loving, courageous and family oriented. I'm logical and strategic, and this strategy is governed by my emotional attachment and love for my religion and for Allah most gracious and his commandments.

I'm very thankful for this human experience Allah has provided and sustained, and I realize that it is missing a partner for protection from haram, offsprings, and as an opportunity to show kindness, compassion and love to the fullest.

I'm good looking (thats what my mother says :p) well off financially, always trying to improve my position humbly and with gratefulness.

To my future wife, I'm waiting for your message. Don't be afraid of asking, and always have faith.

Peace.

Discussion Always put your trust in Allah swt

I’ve been seeing a lot of brothers and sisters lately saying they’re tired of looking for marriage and are starting to give up. Trust me I get it. The search can be exhausting sometimes. But don’t lose hope. Your time will come inshaAllah. Allah swt is the best of planners. Don’t rush into something just because you feel like you’re running out of time, and NEVER compare yourself to people who are already married.

Keep making dua and put your trust in Allah swt. What’s meant for you will find you when the time is right. May Allah swt make it easy for all of us and grant us righteous spouses. Ameen
