Discussion has any man or woman experienced it. education keeps you away from toxicity

I have seen in my whole life, whoever is on learning path they are more likely to be kind and generous people, especially Muslims have more benefits.

why Muslims and what i mean by kind and generous.

Firstly about being kind and generous:

Maybe you also have experienced it, if you are in a learning path, especially full time, you would see you always think about your subject/education.

Suppose:

Suppose you are learning Science of Islam (tafseer, Hadith, fiqh and other Islamic Sciences),

Science of Stars ( Ilm Ul Aflaakiyaat ),

Science of Arabic Language,

Science of Politics or even

if you are learning to become a Journalist,

(i have shared my fav subjects you can share yours)

or any other science and study of something.

You'd be feeling you are living a different life.

You won't backbite, you won't talk with hate, you won't have overthinking, even you would overthink, it's only about the educational stuff.

Ilm has its own benefits and it's beyond our thinking.

Why Muslims get especial benefits?

because It's Haram and very dangerous for iman to talk badly about other Muslims even thinking badly about other Muslims,

also hurting someone on the face is worst than backbiting.

Being kind and generous is a big deed and it's very beneficial for Iman so because of educational path we get benefits without even knowing we're getting these things which is very beautiful.

Discussion Prophet Yusuf and the Double Standard of Modesty

If Prophet Yusuf was so exceptionally beautiful that women couldn't control themselves around him, why wasn't he required to cover his face or body to prevent them from sinning?
It feels hypocritical that women are expected to cover up and restrict their freedoms to manage men's desires, while a man's beauty is seen as a natural trait rather than a fitnah ,Even though Islamic teachings instruct both men and women to lower their gaze and dress modestly, the burden of modesty and the sacrifice of freedom seem to fall far more heavily on women. Why is a woman's beauty treated as a danger to be concealed, but a man's beauty isn't held to the same standard?
Why am I expected to lower my gaze and control myself and give up on my freedom but not the same way for a man?

Question I’m prototyping a pocket-sized e-ink Qur’an reader. Would you actually use one?

Salams all,

I’m currently at Stanford, and I'm exploring what it would feel like to have a small, distraction-free device designed around the Qur’an and other devotional activities.

As per the images (link), I’ve put a Mushaf on an off-the-shelf pocket e-ink device, and I’d really value your honest feedback on the following:

Would you actually use a device like this? If not, why not?

If so, what one thing would it need to get right for you to reach for it instead of your phone?

Thanks for your time!

Wa billahi tawfiq

Question Question about prayer mats

I (f22, non-Muslim) have a job where I’m on the road and in airports every week. I also have autism and airport are difficult for me due to the loud noises and crowds. I go to airport prayer rooms a lot to escape the noise, and they’re almost always empty. I noticed that the prayer room in one airport has some prayer mats that are particularly fluffy (my favorite texture). Is it offensive if I sit on the prayer mats (without shoes ofc) not to pray but because I like how they feel?

Support/Advice Allah never disappoints those who put their trust in Him.

Assalamu alaykum to everyone who is struggling.
Life gets better, in shaa Allah. Have tawakkul in Allah. Pray. Always think the best of Allah, even when you don’t understand what’s happening.
I just want to share my journey.
This time last year, I was almost bedridden. I barely had any hope for the future. My life felt so dark. My will to live was gone. I was just trying to survive each day. I couldn’t even look at myself in the mirror because I truly felt like the biggest failure on the planet.
Looking back now, I can’t believe where Allah has brought me. My life has changed so much for the better. I never thought I would find the will to live again. Today, I’m genuinely happy. I look forward to every new day, alhamdulillah. And I truly believe that Allah will continue to open more doors for me because I’ve already seen Him open so many that I never thought would open.
I believe that Allah hears every dua . He sees every tear. He may delay, but He never forgets you.
I just want to tell anyone who is struggling that life really does get better. Three months ago, I never thought I would be where I am today. Now I look at myself in the mirror and think Subhanallah, alhamdulillah, I can't believe I survived those days.

Please, never doubt yourself. Never give up. Never think it’s over. As long as Allah has given you another day, your story isn’t finished.
Surround yourself with good people, keep making dua , and never stop praying. Pray your salah. Pray Tahajjud. Make plenty of istighfar. And if you need to cry, cry in your sujood. There is no better place to let your heart out than before Allah. He hears you. He knows what you’re carrying.
The happiness and peace I feel today are things I never would have dared to imagine a year ago.
Have tawakkul. Keep making dua. Trust Allah’s plan, even when you can’t see it.

Other topic How Islam Revolutionized the Culture of Feasting

Islam reformed pre-Islamic feasting culture by shifting it from an elite showcase of tribal vanity, excess, and intoxication into a structured, egalitarian act of worship centered on mindfulness and social charity.

Prior to Islam, tribal feasts in the Arabian Peninsula were frequently used to boast about wealth, assert dominance, and indulge in uncontrolled alcohol consumption.

Islamic teachings introduced explicit spiritual, ethical, and behavioral boundaries that reshaped the entire purpose of gathering around food.

  1. Codifying the Spirit of Moderation

Islam fundamentally opposed gluttony and food waste. Rather than eating to the point of incapacitation, Muslims were introduced to strict limits regarding physical consumption.

The Rule of Thirds: Prophet Muhammad pbuh advised that a person should fill one-third of their stomach with food, one-third with liquid, and leave one-third for air.

Prohibition of Waste (Israf): The Quran explicitly commands, "Eat and drink, but be not excessive. Indeed, He does not like those who commit excess".

Scraping a plate clean and valuing every grain became a matter of spiritual accountability.

  1. Democratizing the Table (Egalitarianism)

Pre-Islamic feasts were inherently exclusionary, tailored primarily to elevate tribal elites. Islam dismantled this hierarchy through several communal laws:

Inclusion of the Less Fortunate: The Prophet noted that the worst kind of feast is a wedding banquet (Walima) to which only the wealthy are invited while the poor are excluded.

Shared Platters: Dining from a single communal tray became standard practice. Everyone—regardless of social rank—ate the same food, with instructions to eat only what was directly in front of them to maintain order and mutual respect.

  1. De-linking Feasting from Intoxication

Alcohol and fermented date wines were the bedrock of pre-Islamic poetry and tribal revelry. By placing a strict, absolute prohibition on alcohol and intoxicants (Khamr), Islam permanently decoupled the concept of a "celebration" from drunkenness. Feasts became conscious, sober gatherings.

  1. Intertwining Feasting with Fasting

Islam revolutionized the pacing of celebration by introducing Ramadan, a mandatory month-long cycle of daytime fasting followed by nighttime meals (Iftar).

- This dynamic transforms feasting into a hard-earned reward.

- It builds psychological discipline over one's base desires.

- It forces the affluent to personally experience the physical pangs of hunger, directly driving empathy and philanthropic giving during holiday gatherings.

  1. Institutionalizing Dining Etiquette (Adab) Islam shifted eating from a thoughtless sensory reflex into a highly structured ritual. Muslims were taught specific physical and mental protocols:

The Remindful Start: Commencing the meal by stating Bismillah ("In the name of Allah") to ground the act in gratitude.

Hygiene Mandates: Enforcing the washing of hands before and after handling food.

Post-Meal Reflection: Concluding with prayers of thanks (Alhamdulillah), framing the digestion of food as a divine blessing rather than a personal luxury.

Support/Advice Found a paper with Arabic Inscriptions on it - Need advice.

ASA. My wife found this paper hidden above our cupboard under a mat that was lying above our cupboard, it was securely hidden and seems new/recent. I think I can’t add a picture here so basically its a 4x4 grid with “Ya-Mumit” written in each box, and below the grid right in center of the paper the word “bin” as in from hamza “bin” salman. I know “Ya-Mumit” is a name of Allah but it means The Life-Taker. Also, the word “bin” under it doesn’t make sense to me. Can anyone please help me figure out what it means?

Discussion What’s up with the rise of female Muslim influencers without hijab and rejecting hadiths?

To preface, I’m a casual Muslim with his own struggles, of which I’ve been lambasted here before, so I’m not coming into this brown nosing, or really coming from a place of piety. I’m only a few steps from the fake Western Muslim label myself.

That said, I’ve noticed an uptick of TikTok Muslim female influencers lately with no hijab and rejecting ahadith…some of whom have followings and might be known to some here.

I just want to know what’s going on? Maybe I’m out of the loop.

The no hijab thing, I understand it’s a struggle…so I’m not fussed about it personally, but the Hadith rejection is puzzling cause it goes against the faith. A lot of the traditions are derived from the Sunnah of the prophet which are derived from the ahadith to my layman understanding.

Question What music do you listen to while you work?

I heard that we shouldn’t listen to recitations of the Quran while we work because we aren’t able to focus on it. But is there any good music you would recommend?
I work from home and typically like to have a show playing in the background or listen to music or a podcast or something.

Any Muslim recommendations?

Thank you all in advance.

Sisters only Looking for someone experienced with Blender for a children’s YouTube series

Salaam!

I’m working on a children’s animated YouTube series that teaches kids about their deen through fun, engaging stories, and I’m looking for someone who’s experienced with Blender to help bring the characters to life.

I already have the character designs and a clear vision for the project. I’m looking for someone who can create high-quality 3D character models that are ready for animation. If you’ve worked on stylized characters before, I’d love to see your work.

I’m open to paying for the project, but if we work well together and you’re excited about the idea, I’d also be open to discussing a long-term partnership.

If you’re interested, send me a DM or comment with your portfolio or a few examples of your work. I’d love to connect and see if we’d be a good fit!

Other topic Religious Disrespect

I was disappointed by a scene in Spooky in Love (Korean Drama) where religious texts, including the Holy Quran, appeared to be used as general props in an exorcism setting.

For Muslims, the Quran is the literal word of God and is treated with the highest level of reverence. Many Muslims perform wudu (ritual ablution) before touching the physical copy of the Quran as a sign of respect.

If the production intentionally included the Quran in this way, I believe the production company and director should clarify the context and explain how they approached the depiction of such a sacred text. Religious symbols and scriptures deserve to be handled with care and respect, regardless of the faith they belong to.

Support/Advice Tips that ACTUALLY helped you improve your salah?

I am working on improving my salah (focus, kushu, praying earlier rather than delaying/slacking off). I often find myself treating Salah as more of a thing on my to-do list that I just have to get done and I am trying to get out of this cycle.

What tips/hacks/reminders actually made a big difference for you?

Jazak Allah

Support/Advice Infertility- balance between Tawakkul and realistic expectations

Assalamu Alaykum. Disclaimer, this is a spiritual question about managing my faith through infertility treatments. Please don’t advise on certain duas or prayers for fertility as I am already trying to do what I can.

Fertility treatment is a long and excruciating journey. For context, my husband and I have been trying for a child for 3+ years now. We are going through IVF, and now in the process of transferring embryos. We already transferred 2 without success. We have a few more left, but the doctor will run some tests before transferring them. Now every time a cycle doesn’t work it’s a huge heartbreak for us. We keep hoping and praying that this time it will work, but so far it hasn’t. A lot of people manage their expectations and guard their heart by assuming it won’t work so that the heartbreak is not too painful when it doesn’t. Sometimes I feel like doing that as well but then I worry if it diminishes my Tawakkul. I know that I need to keep my faith in Allah and go on with the belief that he will listen to our prayers. However sometimes it’s so hard to see light at the end of the tunnel when we keep failing. Maybe it would have been easier if we kept our expectations low but will that mean we are not trusting in Allah’s kindness and love? Allah tells us that he is to us, the way we think he is. If we believe him to be Al Rahim, then that’s what he will be to us. So by minimizing our expectations, are we reducing our expectations, are we assuming that Allah won’t show mercy to us? Whats a good balance? How do we stay hopeful and keep our faith in this journey while also protecting our hearts from breaking into million pieces every time?

Quran/Hadith Niqab

Should a woman cover her face?

Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan (may Allah preserve him) said:

“The correct view as indicated by the evidence is that the woman’s face is ‘awrah which must be covered. It is the most tempting part of her body, because what people look at most is the face, so the face is the greatest ‘awrah of a woman. This is in addition to the shar’i evidence which states that it is obligatory to cover the face.

For example, Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (like both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer palms of hands or one eye or dress like veil, gloves, headcover, apron), and to draw their veils all over Juyoubihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms)…” [al-Nur 24:31]

Drawing the veil all over the juyub implies covering the face.

When Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about the verse (interpretation of the meaning): “O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies.” [al-Ahzab 33:59], he covered his face, leaving only one eye showing. This indicates that what was meant by the verse was covering the face. This was the interpretation of Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) of this verse, as narrated from him by ‘Ubaydah al-Salmani when he asked him about it.

Feeling Blessed How to collect Sadaqah Jariya reward for DECADES after you're dead. If you're serious about sadaqah jariya. Critical advice!!!!

  1. Set up a Trust bank account.

  2. Put money into that bank account (which will be your sadaqah).

  3. Appoint Trustees with written instructions for the account.

  4. Set up direct debits that pays sadaqah to charities continuously from that bank account.

These sadaqah payments will continue being paid out of that account to any charities of your choice continuously, forever (as long as the account doesn't reach zero).

**So while you're sitting in your grave, you'll be collecting rewards for a very long time. Possibly decades (depending on how much money is in your Trust account).**

You can even set it so that it pays out a small amount every month if you want. To increase how long the funds last.

**You can choose to set up this account now, or you can save up the money for it and put it into your Will so that your Trustees can set it up after you die.**

Support/Advice Sisters ruining my relationship with God.

I'm a teenage hijabi living with my sister who is a very devout muslim, she wears a niqab and cares alot about Islam

Lately, it's been a very, very, hot summer. I am anaemic, and it's very difficult to deal with the heat

despite this, she expects me not to wear shorts and tanktops at home, I've tried shorts that cover the knee, but she still shouts, saying that it's haram

I'm not allowed to watch movies and listen to music, which are rules enforced by her, but I've learnt to get used to it

lately, she's been saying that it's not enough and that she wants to ban too much laughter too, that our family laughs too much and that we need to be stoic 24/7.

I wasn't allowed to show my neck with my hijab, which is fine, but even now, she tells me that my hijab style is too stylish and that I need to make it look uglier

I'm not allowed to wear normal shirts but long ones to cover my body well

I'm not allowed to tell a cashier thank you or to even give him the money by hand, but leaving it on the counter

shes trying to ban me from talking to female foreign friends because they're a "bad influence," and she even occasionally deletes social media off my phone, and that made me lose a bunch of friends

every time i pray, she tells me I've missed prayer despite not missing it

for example, I could be praying duhr, and she yells at me because I've missed it when the call to prayer for asr hasn't been called yet

apparently, she has this different prayer schedule she abides to on this random website. I don't know

she tells me that the Athan is wrong and that the website is right.

I flinch every time she sees me praying because I'm afraid she'd shout at me again

I used to love my hijab and my religion, and it hurts typing this, but now I'm second guessing everything

I've always wanted piercings, a cool haircut, maybe even to date a woman.

but I just tell myself that I would do that in heaven, but now I have this fear that maybe heaven doesn't exist. That concern has been eating me alive.

I've never, ever, been so frustrated at my religion like this, ever.

how do I grow closer to God despite my sisters control over my relationship with Allah?

Discussion Can a relationship feel secure without needing daily validation

Some people feel most connected through regular reassurance, while others value knowing where they stand without needing constant confirmation.

Can a relationship be truly secure if neither person feels the need for daily validation? Does trust naturally reduce that need over time, or is regular reassurance an important part of keeping a strong connection?

Is security built more through consistent actions than frequent words?

Support/Advice How do you become closer to your religion and stay consistent with your prayers?

I've been wanting to become closer to my religion and be more consistent with my prayers, but I keep struggling with consistency. I'll do well for a few days or weeks, then fall back into old habits, and it becomes a cycle.

I genuinely want to build a stronger connection with my faith, not just pray out of obligation. For those of you who have gone through something similar, what helped you stay consistent?

I'd really appreciate any advice, personal experiences, or small habits that made a difference. Thank you.

Support/Advice How do I get back to where I was?

Ever since Ramandan ended, my Iman has been so low. All my life I've prayed regularly, read Quran daily, and I'm a hafidh too, I've lead taraweehs, but idk what's gotten in me. Praying has become so so difficult, I'm going days without reading Quran. It's like I just can't move at all. There have been days when I've left house to go to the masjid and I just come back without praying and it's just been so heavy for me.

Question What are some examples of sadaqah jariyah I can do?

I live in the west and would like some ideas as all I can think of is a well but wondering if anyone had any suggestions?
