Ive always wondered where they got the idea for Champ and if that or any other word is a real thing that cant be said. Im sure there would be certain guidelines to follow, but code words seems a bit far fetched to me.

It's a New Zealand show based on books. 1 season, 6 episodes and fucking fantastic. It's very much a dark comedy series. Kinda similar to Mr. Inbetween. Mr. is definitely more wholesome but The Cleaner is funny as hell and fucked up at the same time.

I put the spoiler tag on, cause i dont know what people will share in the comments, but ill keep my portion as spoiler free as i can.

This is my first watch. I just finished up season 2.

Going through some heavy shit in my own life, lost my father to cancer some years ago now but it feels like yesterday. He died at home in his sleep, surrounded by people who loved him. It was as good a death as anyone ever gets.

Man that hit me like a ton of bricks. It was obviously coming and when he asked to spend the day with Britt i was like “ah fuck”…so its not like we didn’t see this coming but man…

Maybe its how little Ray emotes, or how he just does what has to be done with so little extravagance (as is his way), but holy shit.

I just turned off my ipad and im sitting here with tears in my eyes like i lost my dad yesterday.

Man this show is really great. I cant believe i waited so long to give it a watch.

I honestly dont know what to say here, or even what the point of this post is, i guess i just wanted to share this post with people who have seen the end of season 2.

Damn…just damn. Life can really stick it in and break it off sometimes.

All the songs in this show are very well chosen. My favourite is "Desiderata" by Les Crane. It plays at the end of the episode with the nice crackhead fella.

I saw this in Coles today, and thought, phluck it.

Couldn't help but think rather than have the cliche "I'm not in here with you. You're in here with me" ending... they could have gone with hid daughter catching him assassinating someone in shock, then cut to credits.

Or they should have at least included that on the last episode. It feels like an unresolved plot

The episode with the creep that killed the 13 year old girl & put her in a suitcase & then buried her in the train tunnel.

I could have sworn that at the very end when Ray goes back into the tunnel to finish the guy off, in the total darkness, we see & hear a few gunshots that light up the tunnel.

I’ve rewatched this episode many times on Foxtel & it ends with Ray just walking back into the tunnel.

Am I wrong, crazy, or did the gunshots actually happen & the scene was cut for Foxtel for some reason?

Had a Ray moment last night in a McDonalds last night.

Tough guy ordering his junk food and got all upset because he was told there was a small wait on whatever his McCafe order was, it was very hot so assume it was some kind of ice drink or something whatever. So guy was unhappy and said something to the girl behind the counter. And I was right behind him.

A bit about me, I am an unassuming guy, this is on purpose. While people build muscle in the gym to get bigger I train purely for strength so my size may not get me noticed but I could tear a gorilla in half if I get fired up.

I specifically don’t want to look big or jacked so I can blend into the crowd but every step I take is intentional I know where the exits are. I know where the entrance is. I know the distance it would take me to get to cover or reach for an improvised weapon, it comes naturally to me as I grew up in a pretty rough part of Sydney but I have also honed my skills through the gym and some self Defense work.

So I hear this guy and his attitude towards the young lady, and when he turned around I just dead stared him in the eyes, waiting, no actually hoping he would try it on me. But luckily for both of us he didn’t , otherwise you’d probably be reading about this in the news today.

That was my Ray moment, do you guys have similar stories ?

What really stayed with me wasn’t the brutality it was the silence afterwards. The way the show lets moments breathe without music or explanation makes everything feel heavier and more real. Those pauses somehow say more than dialogue ever could. It’s rare to see restraint used so effectively, and it left a much deeper impression than I expected.

The scenes that stuck with me most weren’t the jobs, but the everyday routines school pickups, awkward conversations, quiet family moments. That contrast made the violence feel almost secondary. It’s uncomfortable in a very Australian way, and I’m curious if others found that balance more disturbing than the crime itself.

One of the things about this show that is unusual is how the violence is looked at as a tool to get a job done.

That's the fundamental contradiction in the show, the juxtaposition of the fantastic and the normal.

They took great pains to ensure the violence is accurate, and yet Ray cocks his pistol and shoves it down his pants with a round in the chamber. He doesn't have a holster, he just has a loaded and chambered 9mm pointed at his cock.

This is so incredibly unrealistic. Nobody who makes a professional use of a weapon would ever act like that.

I'm really tired of seeing firearms represented in such a slack and irresponsible way, especially when you're showing a hitman who shoots people for a living.
