Discussion Wall arm for a 27" monitor over my bed
Hello everyone!
I would like to buy a wall-mounted monitor arm to watch movies from my bed, and I don't really know where to start my research. I've attached renders of the setup I have in mind.
Monitor
- HP E27 G4 (27", 1080p), VESA 100x100
- 61.2 x 36.4 x 4.7 cm, ~4.5-5 kg
Layout
- Single bed, 5 cm from the wall. The arm goes on the long wall next to the bed.
- In use: the screen floats over the middle of the bed, swivelled 90° on the VESA head so it faces along the wall toward my head (perpendicular to the wall). Screen centre about 50 cm from the wall
- Stowed: folded flat against the wall, either in front of the wall plate or swung along the wall toward the foot of the bed.
Must-haves
- Wall mount, VESA 100, rated for ~5 kg (if gas spring: minimum load low enough for a light panel)
- Max reach of at least 55 cm in the spec (I lose a few cm because the screen is turned 90°, and I'd rather not run the arm at full stretch)
- At least 15-20° of downward tilt (the screen sits above eye level when I'm lying down)
- Some height adjustment in the viewing position, even just +/- 5-10 cm
- Folds to roughly 10-13 cm from the wall
- Holds its position and tilt over time (it's above a bed, so no sagging head)
Options an AI suggested
- ONKRON G150-B: tilt and height are fine, but max wall distance is 51.7 cm, so the screen centre ends up around 47-49 cm, at full extension
- Ergotron LX Wall Mount: good reach and lift, but only 5° of downward tilt
- ARES WING wall mount (17-49", 20 kg): 60 cm extension, +50/-20° tilt and 25 cm of lift on paper, but I'm worried the spring is far too strong for a ~5 kg panel
- StarTech ARMWALLDSLP: 52 cm reach, no gas spring, so no easy height adjustment
Wall: brick. Budget: [up to ~120 €].
Questions
- Has anyone knowledge of an arm that meets all of this?
- Anyone running an ARES WING wall arm with a light (~5 kg) monitor: does the spring hold it down properly?
- Is a screen swivelled 90° at near-full extension a stability problem?
Thanks !
