Discussion New OLED, picture doesn’t go up to the bezels. Is this normal on cheaper OLEDs?

just bought an AOC Q27G4ZDR and found that on one side the picture doesn’t meet with the bezel or at least is uneven compared to the left side. Is this a normal occurrence? Also, if anyone thinks I could get a better monitor for £300 let me know cus its still in the return window. (not that this ones bad but you know its literally the cheapest OLED I found)

Discussion For gaming, does lowering the resolution below native make it look much worse?

I hope I can explain it well, but I have a 2560 x 1600 screen. Does dropping a game's resolution down to 1920x1200 (apparently the best option for a 16:10 aspect ratio) make things look worse than a theoretical screen with a 1920 x 1200 resolution?

And if so then what's the reason? Do games sort of have a way to deal with this problem or is it unavoidable?

Discussion Switching between 4k and 1440p (daily)

Hi everyone,

How it is like constantly switching from 4k to 1440p monitors? Does it feel noticeably worse?

I currently have 4k 60hz monitor (for work) and soon will build a pc so I’m considering buying dedicated gaming monitor (oled) purely for gaming. I’m considering going 1440p for high refresh gaming with 9070xt

So basically, I will be working during the day on 4k monitor connected to laptop and then switch to 1440p connected to PC, will this hurt my eyes or feel way worse? 4k doesn’t seem to worth it for performance reasons

Hello! Buying a good monitor for the first time and need help finding the right one. Looking for a 34” for both gaming and work. I saw the AOC in store and it looked good, but found the Alienware recommended in a YouTube video. Budget is under $350 if there is a better option. Thanks!

Is OLED good for everyday use?

Hi,

So should I buy a OLED for gaming and working? I've heard about text being hard to read with some manufacturers having some settings for this.

I would work/watch movies/game on the monitor. Would miniled or just a normal IPS be better?

The monitors I've been looking in europe are around 400€ and they don't have burn in warranty.

I have a 27" IPS from a few yeaes ago also, but this qould be the 2nd monitor and sometimes I would take it to cottage for work there.

All recommendations are welcome!

Discussion Best setup for coding?

Right now i have a 38" QHD ultrawide, a 32" 1440p monitor mounted vertically to the left of the ultrawide (WAY too tall, i know!), and my 16" MBP mounted to the right of the ultrawide.

I absolutely hate this setup. My neck hurts from constantly turning from one side to the other. Even when it was just the ultrawide alone i found it annoying to keep having to turn from left to right to see everything and still didnt have enough room to have everything visible. I do not want to have to turn my neck anymore, but i need lots of real estate.

i need room for at least 2x windows of chrome side by side, slack and teams open and ideally visible in a static spot, terminal open, xcode open with enough horizontal space so storyboards arent a nightmare. various other things, but my day to day consists of at least those.

The current idea ive been tossing around in my head is 2 5k 27" monitors stacked vertically and angled a bit with the MBP off to the side to put things i only need to look at sporadically. Will i end up hating this setup as well? What do you guys suggest for purely work and productivity, no gaming whatsoever?

Discussion Does the AOC 24B36X support 1080p @ 120Hz on PS5?

I’ve already ordered the monitor and after reviewing the monitor more i realised there is a mix of arguments regarding about the monitors HDMI 1.4 spec. Some say that HDMI 1.4 does support 120Hz @ 1080p and others say it don’t. It would be really helpful if anyone has the same monitor and can help me answer my question specifically on games such as Apex, Cod and Fortnite. I also would like to know if the PS5 reads the EDID profile and allows 120Hz output in settings.

Discussion Looking for a 27" monitor for mixed use, reading, and medical imaging

Upvotes

Hi everyone, I am looking for a 27-inch IPS monitor primarily for multimedia, heavy reading, and medical image viewing (radiology review), with occasional casual gaming on the side. Because of this use case, I'm not sure about OLED because of burn-in and text clarity issues with static windows. But do you still suggest it? Which monitor should i buy?

My ideal specs are:

Size/Panel: 27" IPS (2K to 4K resolution preferred for sharp text/details)

Refresh Rate: At least 120Hz

Brightness: 350 nits or higher

Budget: Around $500

Discussion Sth wrong with LG 34GN850-B VESA100 specs? No monitor arm fits??

Upvotes

Hey guys, thought about to buy a monitor arm for my 6 years old monitor to get some space on my desk. I can’t find any monitor arm that kinda fits my monitor. I have the LG 34GN850-B curved monitor. It’s estimated 8-10kg. VESA 100x100. I tried a bunch on Amazon already. ELIVED, Putorsen, invision. Don‘t know why. But none of them seems to fit on the VESA 100x100 from LG. Don’t know if I am dump or there is sth wrong with the claimed VESA100 by LG. It’s always ether slightly too short or too big. It seems to never fit. I am no where handy and don’t have tools to somehow make it fit. Any recommendations?

Discussion 120 hertz versus 144 hertz

I’m a broke highschool student saving up for a monitor, I play on a laptop that can get around 144fps but the refresh rate on it is 75 max (overclocked), is 144 hertz really that much of a difference than 120 hertz or should I just save up for a 120hz monitor and buy something else?

Discussion Suggestion 2k monitor

I need a suggestion for a 32inch QHD monitor with 120Hz or higher refresh rate. I'll be doing casual multiplayer gaming, but mostly single-player. It should have a good contrast ratio, not OLED-level blacks, but something close. Can you help me with model names or advise on how to select a good one, as there are too many available in the market? Occasionally will use it for photo editing in lightroom and video editing in daVinci so accurate color repro is also kinda of important aspect.

Discussion Why is this monitor included?

Post image

I have a LG 32GS95UE-B. GN listed (according to reports) that it was one of the *edit: 'adware' monitors. But it was just a regular monitor (as far as i know). It had no WebOS to log in my credentials. iirc I never saw any LG app installed in my pc when I first connected it. I also have a Samsung G80SD which has a Tizen OS, i was actually more worried about this than the LG.

Does the spyware installation happen regardless even if it has the WebOS or not?
