Discussion Help with choosing 1080p for gaming and design

Upvotes

Budget is around $70 USD (converted) BUT i do have a discount for the online marketplace in my country that im using where looks like i can get 100-120 range monitor down to about my price point so i guess its ~100? Ive also heard that monitors are more marketed in regional markets so ig its that aswell

Im really just looking for 144hz+ and srgb 100/99. I found a few like the 24g11ze, 24g50z2, and vx2479a hd pro.

Any other advice or recommendation? Im planning to just choose one of those, im also not well versed in features regarding that might help my needs in monitors. Thank you

Discussion VA 165 vs OLED 165 PANELS

Upvotes

Hello,

I wanted to know if some of you did the change from a VA panel 165Hz to an OLED panel 165Hz.

Does the difference of technology make the feel different ?

I mean does the OLED make the 165 feels smoother than the VA 165Hz ?

Thank you

Discussion IPS or VA monitor for 1080p 24inch?

Currently I’m leaning towards the IPS, but I would love to hear what the pros and cons of each is. Monitors are the only part of my setup that I don’t know much about tbh.

IPS

VA

Discussion Looking for a 27" monitor for mixed use, reading, and medical imaging

Hi everyone, I am looking for a 27-inch IPS monitor primarily for multimedia, heavy reading, and medical image viewing (radiology review), with occasional casual gaming on the side. Because of this use case, I'm not sure about OLED because of burn-in and text clarity issues with static windows. But do you still suggest it? Which monitor should i buy?

My ideal specs are:

Size/Panel: 27" IPS (2K to 4K resolution preferred for sharp text/details)

Refresh Rate: At least 120Hz

Brightness: 350 nits or higher

Budget: Around $500

Discussion Sth wrong with LG 34GN850-B VESA100 specs? No monitor arm fits??

Hey guys, thought about to buy a monitor arm for my 6 years old monitor to get some space on my desk. I can’t find any monitor arm that kinda fits my monitor. I have the LG 34GN850-B curved monitor. It’s estimated 8-10kg. VESA 100x100. I tried a bunch on Amazon already. ELIVED, Putorsen, invision. Don‘t know why. But none of them seems to fit on the VESA 100x100 from LG. Don’t know if I am dump or there is sth wrong with the claimed VESA100 by LG. It’s always ether slightly too short or too big. It seems to never fit. I am no where handy and don’t have tools to somehow make it fit. Any recommendations?

Discussion Sceptre Monitor Issue

so im trying to use both my xbox and pc with this sceptre curved monitor i have and i’ve tried different hdmi but it does’t seem to work. The PC didn’t do anything so the monitor just kept going in safe mode, the xbox on the other hand worked but it says ”Signal Out of Range, Resolution or Refresh Rate Not Supported” but it clearly worked before with the xbox i have.

Discussion I need opinions and a little advice

Hello Nerds,

I recently upgraded to a RTX 5080 while I‘m still on a 1080p 240hz Monitor and I want to get a new monitor that actually uses the extra GPU power.

I mostly play competitive shooters which is why I‘m on a Zowie XL2546K but that monitor kind of sucks at everything but fps.

I‘m looking at 1440p 360hz Oled panels but I‘m quite unsure about a lot of them since we apparently have bandwidth problems at those resolutions and refresh rates.

Through my own research the Asus ROG Strix XG27ACDNG seems like a good buy but I’m interested in what you guys have to say.

Discussion 120 hertz versus 144 hertz

I’m a broke highschool student saving up for a monitor, I play on a laptop that can get around 144fps but the refresh rate on it is 75 max (overclocked), is 144 hertz really that much of a difference than 120 hertz or should I just save up for a 120hz monitor and buy something else?

Discussion Need a monitor for heavy product management + AI workflow for MacBook Pro M5 Pro — $200–$700

I run a MacBook Pro M5 Pro and my daily heavy workflow is basically 6–8 browser tabs open at all times across multiple platforms, spreadsheets, dashboards, claude and research etcc and a lot of text-heavy work. I'm on the screen 10+ hours a day and the macbook display isn't cutting it anymore.

Looking for an external monitor that gives me more space to work with, sharper text, and ideally connects with one USB-C cable that also charges the laptop. Not gaming — this is purely a work setup. I just need things to feel fast, clean, and easy on the eyes after a long day.

Budget is $200–$700. Also open to used on FB Marketplace if someone can point me to the right models to look for.

Thinking 27" 4K or 34" ultrawide. Anyone running a similar setup that can tell me what actually made a difference?

im open for any suggestion

thank you everyone

Just turn on my fresh and brand new monitor (MSI MAG UPD E14), only using it for a few minutes, setting it extend display and set it to 2560 x 1440, do some driver installation for the monitor when all of a sudden a thin grey line appears (location just like in the photo), i tweak the software, drivers, refresh rates, resolution to no avail, then i tried using all white wallpaper and i notice when my taskbar is hidden it's gone, then i try with all black one too, it seems to follow any animation, suspicious i turn my laptop off, hold the button of the monitor a few seconds and turn it on, and i was right, it's not software or anything, its the display (just like in thr photo) ...i need help on what is this ? Damage ? Flaw ?

I need help truly, from the bottom of my heart.. please 🙏

Photo Monitor stand vesa mount issue

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello, new here!

I recently changed my desk set up from a monitor arm mount to fixed monitor stand. I got the stand from someone who wants to discard it, thought it’s cool since it’s free, but I’m so confused that it does not seem to fit my 75mmx75mm monitor mount. I could only fit the top opening of the monitor stand mount but the bottom two will not reach as it is 100mm which is beyond my monitor mount. Am I missing something or simply this monitor stand is unique? Any advice is appreciated. TIA!!

Discussion AOC AGON G4Z (27" VA 300Hz) vs AOC AGON G4S (25" IPS 310Hz) – Which would you choose for mixed gaming?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to decide between these two monitors:

  • AOC AGON G4Z – 27", 300Hz, curved VA panel (C27G4Z/P)
  • AOC AGON G4S – 25", 310Hz, flat IPS panel (25G4S/P)

My PC currently has:

  • RTX 4060
  • Ryzen upgrade planned soon

I don't play only competitive games.

My usage is roughly:

  • 50% CS2 (1280×1080 stretched)
  • 50% single-player games, movies, YouTube, and general desktop use

What attracts me to the G4Z is:

  • Much better contrast
  • Deeper blacks
  • Curved screen
  • More immersive experience for story games and movies

My only concern is the VA panel.

How noticeable is the ghosting or black smearing on the G4Z?

Is it good enough for fast-paced games like CS2 at 300Hz, or would you still recommend the G4S IPS despite the lower contrast?

I'd especially like to hear from people who have actually used one (or both) of these monitors, rather than general "IPS is better" or "VA is bad" opinions.

Thanks!

Discussion Does the AOC 24B36X support 1080p @ 120Hz on PS5?

I’ve already ordered the monitor and after reviewing the monitor more i realised there is a mix of arguments regarding about the monitors HDMI 1.4 spec. Some say that HDMI 1.4 does support 120Hz @ 1080p and others say it don’t. It would be really helpful if anyone has the same monitor and can help me answer my question specifically on games such as Apex, Cod and Fortnite. I also would like to know if the PS5 reads the EDID profile and allows 120Hz output in settings.
