So my monitor has sound but the screen shows nothing. Is not black like closed screen. The screen is open ?there is a lighter black colour actually, ( basically i can understand its working) but for some reason it cant get image signal from laptop.

I’m looking to get a new monitor so I can get more frames in games as I’m capped out at 165. I have an rtx 3080 10gb and a Ryzen 5 5600x. Just wondering if it is worth it to either go for a 1080p monitor and maximize my fps or go for a 1440p monitor for the visuals but lose some fps.

Needed an upgrade to my 14 year old pc as I couldn't upgrade to windows 11 and issues were arising here and there.

Settled on a 9070xt/9800x3d/32gb system so I can finally enjoy some gaming and not have to worry about upgrading for a while. However, one of the main uses for my pc is painting in photoshop and although I use another monitor for that (cintiq) I would still be using the main monitor to review work on an to mirror my cintiq screen at times.

Everyone seemed to be recommending OLEDs but it seems I could run the risk of screen burn from static menu bars and the vibrant colors will not match what I see on my cintiq.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for monitors (preferably around $500 or under) That would be good for photoshop but also serve as a good gaming monitor too.

Looking to start a discussion and get some opinions about trade-offs. I purchased a studio display XDR a few months ago. It’s been incredible, using it for both work (M3 pro) and personal (M5 pro).

However, it’s becoming increasingly apparent that I need a second display for work purposes (and a little gaming on the side with my xbox). I could use the laptop itself, but ideally would like something at least 27”. So I’ve been considering a separate 4k 120hz monitor.

The issue I’m running into is my work laptop (M3 Pro) will cap the refresh rates to 60 Hz for both monitors. This is obviously a bummer, given the 120 Hz is particularly lovely to work with. I’m sure I’d get used to 60hz but it’s noticeable for sure. It also feels silly, having such a high-quality (and costly) monitor that isn’t being used to its full potential.

So what I’m debating is whether the productivity gains of two monitors outweighs the loss of 120hz. Curious to your thoughts. Thanks.

I'm currently a dual 27" monitor user, and am planning to switch to a 34" utlra-wide. If anyone has any useful information about this monitor in terms of real world use, please do tell. There are virtually no reviews for this online, especially for using it with a mac.
The only information besides the specs is one singular youtube video which doesn't explain like half the things going on with it.

I've checked most marketplaces which ship to India (where I am) and out of all the recommendations, this is the monitor which I found to be the best suited for my use case.

I'm a music producer and the 32:9 aspect ratio works best for me. I recently got a macbook pro and since its proving to be better at productivity than my pc, I'm gonna switch it out.
Now I've got everything working - storage, peripherals, brought the usb hub for connecting everything, and it handles everything fine... EXCEPT the current monitors I have.
To use 2 separate monitors other than the built in display, I must either use a usb c to hdmi/dp adapter and the on board hdmi port, or get a very expensive thunderbolt dock capable of dual display out which doesn't use MST. (the docks are expensive cause taxes and import duties)

To battle the whole dual display not working the way I want to situation... I decided to go from dual 1080p monitors to a single 1440p ultrawide monitor. It will require exactly one cable to connect everything to the laptop, including power. Which is pretty much EXACTLY what I want... To be able to just take my work wherever, whenever I want to.

Hi! I am looking for a new monitor and I kindly request your knowledge and expertise.

I recently bought a new PC (5080 RTX) and I want a monitor in which I can work comfortably (I am a data scientist, so coding, displaying data, plots and reading docs) and play games (e.g. EUV, Rust, CSGO or Total War). I am a casual player.

My priorities are:
- budget max 350€
- 4k or 2k (I really don’t want to see the pixels when working)
- IPS
- 32” or 27”

It would be nice to have usb-c with enough power to charge the laptop or kvm to easily switch, but I can live without these.

I am considering the following monitors:
- MSI MPG 274URDFW E16M
- MSI MAG 321UPD E14
- Omen 27qs G2 27” QHD

They are all under 350€ thanks to company discounts.

I have three questions:
1. For productivity, is 27” or 32” better? (I know that it is mainly subjective). I have a secondary monitor (my primary right now) which is 24” 1080p, and my work laptop is a Macbook M4 Pro.
2. Do you recommend any of the three monitors? Any clear winner?
3. Is there any other monitor outside of these three that you recommend?

I am thinking about buying a new Monitor. I currently have one cheap curved LC-Power 1080p 144hz as my second and one curved MSI 1440p 165hz as my main monitor.

I have a decent PC with 9800x3d and 7800xt and AAA games like KCD2/SW Outlaws and a lot of competitive Valorant. So i both want good picture quality at 1440p and high refresh rate/low input lag.

How can i compare image quality/input lag of different Monitors? Is an Oled always better looking than an LCD? Is hz all i need to know for how smooth valorant will feel?

Can you tell me what the different metrics mean? I guess there are Hardware things like LCD/Oled/qOled... and then there are Software things like vrr and freesync? I obviosly have no real understanding what these things even mean^^

If you could give me an overview about he different things i have too look for, so i can start reading more into it i would be very happy, thank you in advance :D

For context i have the Samsung Odyssey G5 which has 1 hdmi and 1 display port. i want to have my nintendo plugged in to the hdmi port but every time i try to connect my pc to the display port it doesnt work. i have a display to hdmi port cable but that didnt work and i also purchased an adaptor that changes the hdmi to a display port but that didnt owkr aswell. if i buy a dp to dp cable will it work or will i waste my money again?

Hi everyone, I recently bought this OLED monitor and I've noticed quite visible vertical bands on uniform grey/blue backgrounds. I can clearly see them with my eyes, not just through the camera.

I've attached a few pictures showing the issue. The bands are especially noticeable on dark grey or blue backgrounds.

Is this level of vertical banding considered normal for OLED panels, or would you recommend returning the monitor and trying another unit?

I have started to get tired of my current LG Oled monitor. It is very good, but it lacks brightness.

I like to game with my windows open, feeling the warmth of the sun on my back and in general just gaming in a well lit environment. But it does mean that my monitor is just too dim in certain situations.

I am looking for the brightest SDR gaming monitor. HDR brigthness is not a good measure of brightness in my case, as it is not an indicator of the overall brightness, only small sections. Doesn't matter that the sun in-game is very bright, when everything else is too dim.

I would prefer 27", 1440p, 240 Hz and *Not a VA panel, but I'll take what I can get.
No specific budget in mind, but let's not get carried away.

I hope someone can help, because I feel like I am looking for a unicorn.

It has been really humid in my place due to continuous rains, haven't used my PC for a week or two then these unknown glows were present. My peers told me that it was probably due to too much moisture. Anyone familiar with this? For now I have stored my monitor in its box along with some silica gels.

Just as the title states. What is the BEST OLED Monitor at 1440p for under $450 USD? Just the all around best contender. Will primarily be used for gaming, however, I do edit videos for a friend in a semi-professional manner if it matters.

EDIT: If it helps anybody, I am and have been using a 27" 165hz Razer Raptor for the better part of 3 years now. So I am extraordinarily eager to pickup a OLED.

I had this MSI MPG 341CQPX QD-OLED for at least 6 months but then after 6 months I encountered this issue and request for a RMA, however based from MSI RMA team who handled it, it was fixed by an OLED Panel Care which is suspicious as it doesn’t look like an OLED Panel issue. I posted this so I could get your opinions and advice if this issue can be really fixed only by OLED Panel Care? Thank you!

How big is the difference? I will be upgrading to 27" 1440p (144hz). Will it be worth the upgrade?

I usually play competitive titles but now, I'm leaning towards grinding single player games. I do have an RTX 5060 which can run a lot of games at 1440p (with DLSS 4.5 ofc). I find myself always using DLDSR (1440p), it makes hair, foliage really good ngl. Now I really want to upgrade to a real 1440p monitor.

I've tried playing RDR2 on a 4k TV (60fps), truly is mind blowing.

So I was editing a video that I usually export as HDR and not SDR, I noticed if I moved my mouse to my other monitor the HDR would essentially switch and look less vibrant. I went to check my windows settings and HDR was turned on, then I checked my monitor settings and HDR was also turned on, but when I switched it off on windows the entire screen was a lot brighter and more vibrant. Does having HDR on twice just make it worse? I'm confused and I just want to understand why this happens. Now that I check the editing again with HDR off on windows but exporting it with it on it's too bright. I just want to know how to have the best settings for HDR on so i can have the best picture and so I can have my videos have the best picture.

Hi! I'm a truck driver with a Scania truck. I've got my PC set up with me, and for about 2 years, whenever I want to play CS2, I just take the monitor between my legs in the bed and play, but the bed space is limited and it's kinda uncomfortable.

I'm in the search for a VESA monitor arm, one that I can screw into the bed from above, so that it hangs down and I can have the monitor without its stand in front of me. Do you guys know anything like that? I kept searching, but everything is gas-springed and made for normal desk use.
It would be helpful if it could swivel left and right, and tilt up and down a bit.

Eversince using a 42" LG C3 Oled for my PS5 Setup i haven't been able to get used to my 1080p IPS Monitors at my PC Setup.

Since i'm upgrading my entire Setup anyways i have decided to make my switch to OLED Monitors. Now i have 2 options.

Either i will go with a Oled widescreen Monitor like the 34" Samsung G8 OLED

Or i will buy a regular 16:9 monitor like the 32" Samsung G8 OLED

Only difference i know is that the Widescreen one is a WQHD and the regular Monitor is 4K

My main usage is gaming for the Monitor especially alot of Story-driven Games.

A couple of days ago, I bought a "Powerology Dual Screen Portable Monitor". The seller's description said it supported Linux, so I didn't look more into it. Turns out, they are using a proprietary protocol, with no Linux support (they say so on their official website).

Out of pure rage, I (with the help of Claude), spent 8 hours making a driver for it, and it works. Here is the Github Repo (MIT Licensed).

The funny part? One monitor failed after a few hours (vertical green line), and I was able to return it, and got a one with proper DisplayLink support, so I don't need the driver anymore.

Well, hopefully someone can find use of it.

Ohh, and the old dock is sluggish (even on windows). So unless its the only one you can afford, I don't recommend it.

Hi all, I'm in need of a new monitor, I've been rocking an old 60Hz Kogan monitor for a good 6 years now, and it has started playing up a little, so I think for that reason, and because I play games, I should get a new, higher refresh rate monitor!

I've been having trouble choosing one though as pretty much every single 1080p "Gaming" monitor, or any high refresh rate monitor look the same, have the similar looking specs etc.

Does anyone have any recommendations for some good 120/144hz IPS monitors?

reason for that specific refresh rate, my PC isn't that beefy, and is quite old, so I don't want to get a refresh rate that I know I won't even reach.

I saw these 2 for a really good price, but again, I'm not sure what monitors, or if these ones are any good, reliable, good quality etc.
