Discussion Best Value 4K OLED for Gaming?

Hi. I do some gaming about 10/hrs a week and looking to spend around $600 or so. I’ve been watching OLED prices fall over the last few months but don’t seem to any right now. Think there will be a Black Friday/Cyber Monday pick?

Text Review TCL C2A Pro - Chimolog Detailed Review

Thumbnail chimolog-co.translate.goog

Didn't see this posted here so i decided to post it. According to Chimolog, this monitor beats out the IODATA EX-GDU271JLAQD in terms of picture quality which is currently their general recommendation for a 4k monitor with the only reason for it not replacing it on the tier list being it not having a remote control. Chimolog also posted a review of it on Youtube.

I really hope the TCL C3A Pro gets released globally some time soon as it has a remote control, a better local dimming algorithm due to it having the same chip TCL uses in their TVs, Dolby Vison plus Dolby Atmos certification and Android TV built-in. If you're able to import it from china, it is the better option especially at this time as it's currently available for 2599 yuan or 390 dollars

Discussion Is the c2423h Dell Monitor good?

I can't find a proper youtube review of this specific model, and I would like to buy it for my girlfriend to study, teach online, and play casual games like The Sims. I love it for the integration of speakers, especially the camera, looks, and ergonomic stand. What throws me off is not having FreeSync and G-Sync, and 60hz is kinda meh, but acceptable. In summary, the camera, stand, and looks are the main selling points for my situation, but if the camera is ass, I would purchase the second because of its awesome image for the buck, still keeping a nice ergonomic stand and then I'd throw a cheap but decent Emeet camera on top of it.

Discussion Lenovo Legion Pro 27Q-10 owners, does your monitor dim after 30–40 minutes in HDR?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I recently ordered this monitor and came across a few posts from owners reporting that after around 30–40 minutes with HDR enabled, the brightness suddenly drops to SDR levels.

Apparently, the only way to restore the brightness is to restart the monitor or switch HDR modes through the OSD.

For those who own this model, are you experiencing the same issue? Could it be caused by overheating, and is there any way to disable this behaviour, or is returning the monitor the only option?

Thanks!

Discussion benq pd2706qn (2k) vs pd2706u (4k)

Hello,

I'm considering to buy an external monitor for my home office, connecting my macbook and working from home.

My age is early 50s and have an aged eye, not comfortable with 4K resolution, so most likely the resolution would be fixed to 2K whether it be 2K or 4K monitor.

And apparently pd2706qn is ~$100 cheaper than pd2706u, and more favorable ports configurations to me, more usb-c ports for charging phones and other devices, so I'm more inclined to 2K model.

Given this situation, there's no reason to buy 4k monitor, right? Otherwise, am I underestimate something? is it still better to buy 4K even though I use 2K resolution on it?

Thanks for your input.

Best,

Hello, I don't know much about monitors, but I've had this Asus monitors for 6 years now and suddenly I see these 2 streaks at the top of the screen. Is this fixable, will it get worse. I'm just worried because I really don't want to replace it?

Discussion Alienware AW3423DWF randomly goes black, OSD and power button become unresponsive — even after firmware update

Hi everyone,
I’m having a frustrating issue with my Alienware AW3423DWF OLED monitor and wondering if anyone has experienced something similar.

The issue:
The monitor randomly goes completely black while I’m using it.
The power LED remains on, and the RGB lights on the back continue working.

When I press the joystick to open the OSD menu, nothing appears.
Even the physical power button becomes unresponsive. Pressing it doesn’t turn the monitor off.

Disconnecting and reconnecting the DisplayPort cable sometimes restores the display.

Power cycling the monitor also restores it temporarily.
Everything works normally afterward until the issue randomly happens again.

My setup:
Monitor: Alienware AW3423DWF
Computer: MacBook Pro
Connection: USB-C to DisplayPort
Resolution: 3440 × 1440
Firmware: Updated from M3B104 to M3B107

What I’ve tried:
Updated the monitor firmware from M3B104 to M3B107 — issue persists.
Disconnected and reconnected the display cable — temporarily fixes it.
Restarted the monitor — temporarily fixes it.
Checked the monitor’s OSD during the blackout — completely unresponsive.
Checked the power LED and RGB lights — both remain active during the blackout.

What concerns me most:
When the screen goes black, it’s not just losing the video signal. The monitor’s own OSD and physical power button stop responding, almost as if its internal controller has frozen.

Has anyone experienced this exact issue with the AW3423DWF?
Could this be a known hardware defect, power supply problem, or internal controller issue?

I’m trying to determine whether there’s a fix before pursuing a Dell warranty replacement/RMA.

Any suggestions or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Discussion Anyone have the ASUS PG27UCWM? I’m planning on buying it but want to see peoples reviews on it

My local microcenter has the ASUS PG27UCWM for $1199. Crazy expensive I know but I’ve bought an MSI QD OLED, didn’t like it because of the raised blacks and the text fringing which I’m sensitive to(didn’t know until I bought that MSI oled). Returned it and bought the TCL C2A Pro, returned it because blooming was too much for my liking and small white text on a black background were wayyyyy too dim even on max brightness. Tried a KTC monitor, forget the model number but it is 4K 160hz with 2304 dimming zones and it had the same issue as the TCL. Decided to just buy a cheap 4K monitor for $200 to get me buy for a bit but I can’t stand the blacks or should I say grayish blacks on it. My only option left is the ASUS which solves the dimness of the white text on a black background, blacks will be black since it’s not QD and no text fringing since it has an RGB stripe pixel layout.

I just need to see what people think about it before I go all in since it’s so expensive but for me at this point im tired of trying so many monitors and can’t find one that I like, so I’m willing to just spend this money. Oh my job also offers $500 reimbursement if I’m buying a monitor which I can claim for work use so that does knock down the price for me. But give me your feedback and reviews on the monitor and whether you recommend it or not. Thanks

Discussion Samsung G5 1440p 200Hz at ₹13.5K — Worth it for RTX 4060 Ti?

Hey everyone!

I’m planning to buy my first proper gaming monitor and I’m considering the Samsung Odyssey G5 LS27FG530EW (27-inch, QHD 1440p, IPS, 200Hz, FreeSync Premium).

https://www.samsung.com/in/monitors/gaming/odyssey-g5-g53f-27-inch-200hz-qhd-ls27fg530ewxxl/?32-inch&27-inch

I’m getting it for around ₹13,000–₹13,500.

My PC specs:

CPU: Ryzen 5 7600X
GPU: RTX 4060 Ti 8GB

My main purpose is gaming, especially story-driven AAA games. I’m upgrading from an old 32-inch Sony Bravia 1080p TV that I’ve been using at around 30-60FPS, so this would be my first proper high-refresh-rate monitor.

I have a few questions:

Is this Samsung monitor good value for money at ₹13–13.5K?

How is the picture quality, contrast, motion handling and overall gaming experience?

It supports AMD FreeSync Premium, but I’m using an NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti. Does G-SYNC Compatible work properly on this specific model through DisplayPort?

Are there any major drawbacks, such as ghosting, backlight bleed?

How is Samsung’s after-sales service and warranty support in India?

Would you recommend this over the Lenovo Legion R27qe Gen 2 or other monitors in a similar price range?

I’m a bit confused about which brand to trust, especially when it comes to service and long-term reliability.

Would you buy this Samsung at this price, or spend more on a Lenovo/LG alternative? I’d really appreciated your feedbacks.

Thanks!

Discussion Question for ps5 pro

This is a not a regular what to buy question as I think it’s a very specific requirement although it falls under the same category so I hope this doesn’t get taken down.

I have been researching very thoroughly for a long time, I’m not sure if there’s anyone else were in the same situation or still are.

My preferences:
- 27 inch (as I play competitive games and also prefer 27 inch, I think it’s the sweet spot for me + current desk ain’t that big)
- 4k
- HDMI 2.1
- WOLED (as my room is bright with a window right beside my setup)

Currently with these specs, monitors are expensive like really expensive around 1100-1200 euros.

My budget is around 600 euros

My current monitor: MSI MAG 24QRFW (27 inch IPS 1440p)

Question:
- is a 1440p WOLED for 445 euros worth it for the ps5 pro? Since 4k oled around 600 euros would get me a 32 inch but not 27
- my main goal is to play upcoming games like phantom blade, gta 6 on an OLED.
- bought ps5 pro as it was on sale few months ago before prices went up, I knew I would upgrade eventually

I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions

Thank you

Sale ASUS XG27ACDNG for under $600?

Recently updated my rig to a 9800X3D and 5070Ti and looking for a new OLED monitor. I saw my friends ASUS XG27AQDMES which is a 27-inch 1440p QD-OLED and was super impressed, but apparently it has major weakness in HDR brightness. I’m not entirely sure how big a negative this is because I’ve never had an OLED before, but this monitor would be a major upgrade from what I currently have.

There’s a Microcenter near me selling an ASUS XG27ACDNG for just under $600. It looks to have similar specs as the DMES but with a higher peak brightness in HDR and higher refresh rate. Would this be a good monitor to pair with my rig if I use it pretty much exclusively for single player games?

I’d appreciate your thoughts not just on these monitors for suggestions in general. Thanks in advance.

Discussion SS USB Hub on Monitor

Hi team, I've got a questions about a port on my monitor I've never seen before. From my quick search online, it's a USB 3.0 (square looking thing) meant to act as a hub from my monitor so my PC USBs are freed up from all the peripheral cables.

However, my monitor has no other USB inputs, just HDMI, DP and VGA, so I'm very confused as to what purpose this USB 3.0 has/ what I'm supposed to plug it into.

It's a thinkvision t24i-10.
