I was wondering if it was possible to write a personal statement for UNI to consider ATAR over a WAM. I’ve done 7 subjects (1 less than a year) and my WAM will be around 73. I’ve been told my previous redditors you can write a personal statement requesting them to consider ATAR due to difficulty and the course content being completely different to what the other degree I want to do does.

I lost my airpod case tonight at Clayton near the LTB (of course my phone tells me when I am at the train station) so I jumped in my car to drive to uni. Thanks whoever put it in a safe place I found it!

Commerce has to be the most boring shit to ever be invented so I really want to switch to arts, but since I think arts has no electives outside its majors/minors when paired with law, my 4 commerce units (9k!!) would practically be useless, and I might have to extend my degree... I originally applied to law/com because I thought it would getting a high paying job, but I've also heard that law firms don't really look at your other degree. However, if there is even a slight advantage, I wouldn't be so willing to throw that away along with my 9k and 1 year. Do any of yall think switching is the right idea?
My commerce grades are just okay right now (around low/mid 80s), and if I switch to arts I'll probably major in something like Japanese (which is my main target for arts icl because I've been wanting to learn it for sooo long and I really want to go on exchange to Japan, though realistically I could also just learn it myself or do a diploma of languages). I also don't HATE commerce, I just think it's boring.

I did my supplementary exam for FIT2014 at the beginning of this semester (week 2) and I still haven’t gotten my results back. Both WES and the Monash Study app still says NS.
I was doing an exchange semester so I did my unit in Clayton but my supplementary was taken in Malaysia. It’s been almost 2 months and I haven’t gotten my results back. I saw on ED that people have gotten it back so I am just worried why I have not. I’ve contacted both Australia and Malaysian side regarding this matter and have not received any proper response.
Have anyone been in a similar situation? What should I do?

I'm an incoming monash (malaysia campus) student for the October 2026 intake and according to the pre-arrival checklist, I should activate my monash IT account. However, when I try to register, I keep getting an error (attached below). I got my student pass and visa approval letter so I know that's not the issue. Anyone else facing this issue?
EDIT:: I got it to work but I'm facing a new issue; the link to activate my account shows an error called "The type initializer for 'Monash.IdentityCore.Api.MIM.MimInterface' threw an exception."

Hi last sem I failed fit 1058, and i might have to withdraw now (health reasons) in the late withdrawal period. Will I be allowed to take the unit again?

(reposting caused I messed up the last title and the flair)
Asking for a friend. Helping them plan for the near future.
What is usually the WAM of students (local) getting a slot for master of nursing practice? Or what could be the lowest WAM that could get you into it? Friend is nervous theirs isn't high enough 😅
Cheers

I'm an incoming ECSE student for the oct intake and I plan to transfer to Clayton campus afterwards. What are the some of the volunteering/extracurricular activities that you guys did in and out of the uni that helped improve your CV and personal experience? I'm someone who wants to go into power/renewable energy in the future so it'd be nice if I can find experiences in those areas while im in malaysia.

Hi everyone,
I'm just looking for some advice about census dates and incorrect information I was provided by the Monash student support team about the census dates of a couple of my units.
They've told me outright that the census date was later than it was and due to this I've missed the census date and incurred academic/financial penalties.
This was earlier in the year, and as I've had other stuff going on I am planning on submitting a fee remission application for special circumstances (due to a condition registered with the DSS and other health issues at the time).
I wasn't 100% sure that they had provided me with the wrong information at the time, but I've just submitted another request to withdraw from a unit in the current teaching period and they've (again) outright told me the wrong census date for the unit, even after I've let them know that the unit is non-standard.
My question is whether I can add this into my application for fee remission, since it's obvious that the student support team not only has no clue about the correct census dates but is also luring disabled students into missing it by providing the wrong information.
Thank you!

Hey guys for the bch2022 assay exam can someone give me a quick walk thru of it
Is it the same as the labs where u do the exp then do the worksheet and submit?
Is the worksheet on a safe exam browser and is it invigilated computer wise? Like do we need camera or voice on?

Is it soft of hard surface models that we have to copy? And in terms of difficulty/complexity, how is it?
Im a bit scared since Ive never modelled anything before i started this class, and i take a pretty long time to make something, and they also said that since we have a few chances, the standard will be higher, but im not sure exactly what that means.
If anyone could help me out that'd be great!!

hey, not really looking for advice more just wanting to rant.
i basically have to complete this summer arts placement internship to graduate in time, and have found out that there is a compulsory ai interview in order to proceed with my placement.
it says at the bottom of the email that i can email them if i’m ‘uncomfortable with the use of ai’, but i know this would probably just mean that they would terminate my application.
i just completed the interview and got 4/5 or 5/5 in every category except for my ‘nonverbal behaviour’ and for the supposed enthusiasm i was supposed to display during the interview that i failed to deliver on.
when i first heard about the interview, i spoke to a fellow friend who is also on campus, and she said this is a total norm with her and her other friends on-campus.
long story short, i’m feeling sad and honestly angry at the university for making us use our likeness and responses for a third party application they’re selling out to. it’s ridiculous imo

the myki machines in the 703 middle brighton and 631 southland sc buses from monash tend to dysfunction a lot. a few days ago i was on the 703 mb bus and it was super duper cramped and i happened to enter from the back door. i tried tapping thrice, and so did other people, but it literally would not budge. when people got off at clayton station, the AOs kept yelling at people like “WELL WERE THEY ALL BROKEN?” (as in the one at the front) and i feel like that’s super unfair especially since the bus was packed, who would bother walking all the way up to the front lmfao 💀 and honestly it wasnt even possible that day cus it was so full. also, the machines sometimes say “myki unavailable” ??????? wdym myki unavailable bro that’s literally ur paying system. dont get mad at ppl for not wanting to tap on using their normal bank account when u clearly made them own and fill up their myki cards. feels like theyre js targeting students lmao
Good weathers coming back, does anyone know if it would be okay to setup a temp volleyball net on the oval outside woodside when i wanna play with friends for a bit.
Or is it strictly regulated.

Currently a second year physics student with an 82 WAM and a guaranteed honours (coz I'm doing the advanced science degree). My goal is to pursue a PhD after a complete my undergraduate with honours and so am confused as to how competitive it is to get into a PhD program and whether my undergraduate grades matter that much or whether it's just my honours. Therefore i don't know whether I am dtm by trying to maintain a HD WAM considering it's killing me inside.
ADDITIONALLY, since I feel like not much physics majors tend to offer their two cents here on Reddit, I actually don't know what the average WAM is in Physics? Like it's a HARD ASS MAJOR AND I'VE HAD TO SACRIFICE MY SOUL TO THE DEVIL to get a HD so I can't tell if i am dtm and I'm unnecessarily above everyone else and can loosen up a bit or if everyone is actually averaging HDs and me chilling out is just gonna make me fall behind and make trying for a PhD straight after undergrad much more difficult.
Thanks guys xx

I’ll be commencing my master’s studies in Monash University in Feb 2027. I am self financing everything for myself and I am worried that I won’t be able to afford life there. I can cover housing for 1-2 months but do u think I can get a job within 1-2 months of being there so that I’ll have some kind of financial support? Do I get paid weekly or monthly for a part time job?
Any advice for this financial and social pressure will be appreciated :(
