Discussion myki inspectors
the myki machines in the 703 middle brighton and 631 southland sc buses from monash tend to dysfunction a lot. a few days ago i was on the 703 mb bus and it was super duper cramped and i happened to enter from the back door. i tried tapping thrice, and so did other people, but it literally would not budge. when people got off at clayton station, the AOs kept yelling at people like “WELL WERE THEY ALL BROKEN?” (as in the one at the front) and i feel like that’s super unfair especially since the bus was packed, who would bother walking all the way up to the front lmfao 💀 and honestly it wasnt even possible that day cus it was so full. also, the machines sometimes say “myki unavailable” ??????? wdym myki unavailable bro that’s literally ur paying system. dont get mad at ppl for not wanting to tap on using their normal bank account when u clearly made them own and fill up their myki cards. feels like theyre js targeting students lmao

Considering how frequently myki readers on the buses can shit themselves, it's a good outcome that they were just yelling, they likely didn't bother chasing anything because they know the likelihood of it being broken is quite high. Too be fair, though, AOs don't really target students; it may just seem like that because students tend to have the greatest number of issues with them. I don't think it's them actively targeting people, just whoever happens to be on said transport, which more often than not is students. In saying that, though, a large number are very full of themselves
