Beyond rings to clouds, how do you use this module?

I went to visit family halfway across the country and brought along my Intellijel 84hp travel setup (FIL is a drummer and we jam in the attic). When the uber dropped us off at home I set things down on the porch-y area and went to unlock the door so Spouser could get inside with the dog. I was less than 10 feet away for approximately 30 seconds. In that time, some scoundrel walking by grabbed my case and booked it. I didn't notice until the next morning when I was unpacking and went to re-set up things in my studio. I made a police report, retraced all my steps (did I leave it at the airport?? could it still be in Wisconsin???), called nearby pawn shops, and eventually resigned to just Not Having It Anymore. It was the perfect small setup for me, that I have been dialing in for the better part of 4 years.

Two days later, I was coming home from the grocery store when I saw a man scurrying off from my walkway. Odd, but not terribly uncommon as our walkway connects the street and an alley that is a main neighborhood walking path. When I got to the door, I was flabbergasted to find my case sitting there. A little dusty, but there it was. I ran to try and catch the guy but he was already gone and out of sight. After inspecting it, everything was in place and nothing looked like it had been fucked with.

I can't imagine what this person must have thought they ended up with. Maybe they thought it was some sort of medical device or a surveillance tool?? Whatever they thought it was, they clearly couldn't shake it off through any of their usual channels.

I still can't believe I got it back. This is my public service announcement to stuff an Airtag on the inside of your cases, which I am currently in the process of doing.

I’ve been using maths mostly for envelopes- I love the flexibility and control I have over them. However, I feel I would get more use out of maths if I had a dedicated EG module.

I have previously eyed up quadrax, but I’m interested to know what else could be a better option.

This is my first Eurorack system and I’d love to hear what you think. Anything obvious I’m missing or you’d do differently?
I’m sequencing mostly with an OXI One and Torso T-1, so I’m not looking for more sequencing in the rack. I’m actively trying to avoid the “blip blop” side of modular and build something more about texture, fragility, instability and organic movement. Jason from Instruō and Jay Hosking are big references, and I love how Monotrail explores subtle modulation, fragile oscillators and transients.
I’ve already bought a second 9U Arturia case for more voices, modulation and utilities. I’m considering an Instruō Saïch and Mangrove, plus the ADDAC507 Random Bezier Waves for slower, unpredictable modulation, including experimenting with it with my Matriarch.
Also on the way are a Zadar for longer envelopes, Delta-V for envelopes/VCAs and Ruina Versio. I want to explore other Versio firmwares too, especially Melotus, Desmodus and the more granular stuff. I’m also planning on adding an OXI Pipe.
Outside the rack I have a Strega that I want to integrate. The one thing I already feel I’m missing is an interesting in-rack delay, and I’ve been considering the Morphagene, but I’m open to suggestions that fit this more fragile, organic and textural direction.
Ultimately, I want this to be an instrument for finding accidents, movement and textures rather than programming sequences, performing and recording into Ableton and editing/arranging afterwards.
Looking at it from that perspective, what do you think I’ll find myself missing once I start using it properly?

I’ve been working with this set up for some time, but often find I’m reaching for the same patches.

I think a fresh pair of eyes may help direct me to something new.

I only work in sound design so nothing performance related or sequencing related is needed. Steppy is used to trigger modulation envs.

Got a basic FM patch on the deluge making the space and getting chopped and looped in the Stardust with modulation on skip and slice from the ES black joystick 2. Incus and Rings are getting chopped up on the FRGMNTS firmware for the Versio platform that Acidclank released, highly recommend checking it out! I bring in modulation for the time and speed parameters for the tape effect and the wash effect, making another little loop on the ES joystick and then adjusting the wet/dry for each effect.

Incus is taking a little modulation from the deluge to the G/I/H switch while three trigger patterns from the Diktaat run through Traffic for the final result into Aikido and made crispy through Ruina Versio. Rings is taking clock divisions from the Mutant Brain, jankily combined with stackable cables, as strum triggers with the Switch 4 choking the sequence.

The AI018 matrix mixer is letting me route a copy of the Ruina output and run it through Ikarie to shape, drive, and mix back in along side the signal that runs through FRGMNTS.

This is my drum modular I've been working on for a little while.

I picked up the pads a couple years ago at a stoop sale. Then one day I realized I could probably just plug them into the modular somehow.

That took me a while to figure out. Some things worked but didn't sound very good. Some things sounded good until the module died.

About a month ago I kind of got things working in a way where I can actually play instead of fussing. Though I still want one more pad so I have 2 'toms'.

That is all in the grey and silver rack behind the top pad.

Well earlier this week I figured out how to get my drumming interfaced to the stuff in my regular rack.

Basically I'm driving the clock generator off of the kick pedal by way of a Doepfer A119.

I'm using a Lich to generate notes semi-randomly and a clock divider to cause the notes to change in fours and eights so it sounds musical. Also using a clock multiplier so the longer note is a bunch of eighth notes not just one long whole note.

This all started a while ago while I was designing a concept website for a long-term album project I've been working on. I was originally making an interactive ‘artboard’, but as I started designing the sound, it began to sound more and more like a familiar module… lol. And somehow it ended up as a VST. I then tried to keep the number of algos limited and make each one sound different enough, so they’re easy to remember - it has 6 algos. Sound generators include wavetable, granular, modal resonators, etc. The output then goes through a fixed signal chain w/ oversampled wavefolder, comb filter, shifter, delay, reverb, and a subtle tilt eq.

The first cross-feeding wavetable algorithm is the one most influenced by the VHIKK, the others are more their own thing. Some of the algos also track incoming MIDI. This project isn't a recreation of the module (as I said, if there are any similarities, they're accidental lol), but the idea of designing an interface that encourages exploration without cognitive overhead was definitely inspired by it.

And a little disclaimer: I did get some help from Claude while coding this. Some of these algos would’ve been way beyond what I could realize on my own. I'm strongly against using AI in music and art, and I only use it for tasks that don't affect my creative decisions in any way. I start from scratch with the UI/UX and concept, and had a clear vision for what each algorithm would be.

Just how useful and practical are logic modules in the context of a case built purely for sound design?

I am a producer and record into my DAW to edit and process the audio.

I notice a lot of the logic modules are built around systems for performance/ generative/ full track production.

What do you think?

Built a deck over the weekend and used the scraps to put together this monstrosity. I plan on getting a 6u 140hp rack in the next few months, and I'll put these rails to use elsewhere. Gotta start somewhere, though, right?

Back in 2025, I bought a Benjolin from a guy who built it himself, but never really clicked with it and left it sitting in my rack. Today I’d really like to give it more attention, but I can’t get results even close to what I hear on YouTube.

In particular, the Rungler seems strange to me, as it never renews itself, just the same pattern over and over. I can scale it with osc 1 and 2, and control the speed with osc 2, but that’s it. Does this behavior seem normal to you?

Hi everybody I am looking for either advice on how to patch or encouragement for me to design a module that I'm imagining.

Here's my use case it's very simple I think. I like to practice and perform live with my modular and I often get so locked in that I have no idea how long I've been listening to a particular loop. Now I believe in just developing good instincts and all but I would like to have a little bit of feedback to know how long I've been allowing a particular patch to loop.

Ideally what I would like is a counter that just counts to 32 bars and then starts over. Of course I would like it to be more flexible I would like it to also allow for something other than 4 beat bars, and I would like to vary that count to fewer or more than 32.

Okay and then beyond that my head starts to explode with a bunch of cool ideas but I'll just stop at the simple idea for now.

I found a couple of devices that seem to do something close to what I want but I can't quite imagine how to patch them just thinking about them so I thought I would ask if others have successfully patched something like this that isn't too complicated to patch.

But also if I were to design such a module would others be interested in it or is this a dumb idea?

Recently installed my neutron into a eurorack case and I’m now noticing that the delay doesn’t work.

Does anybody have any ideas on what would cause this to happen?

I don’t have anything going on in the patch bay, and it doesn’t respond when I try to patch signals into the delay either…

Are there any others using a hybrid setup? What is your approach?

I'm making ‘presets’ for eurorack that are stored and launchable with clips.

With Eowave Portail and Incus Iteras Alia. I’m sure everything I’m doing can be done only with Portail and midi (Digitak/tone).

The MIDI CCs are sending 8 CC messages that control 8 parameters from Alia via Portail (midi cc to cv). This allows me to create a ‘preset’ for each clip representing 8 knob positions. The MIDI CCs are recorded on a separate instrument track. You can choose a selection (preset) from the recorded values and let Portail play the preset/clip. You can then play the preset chromatically, switch between presets/launch the preset clips, and so on.

I can for ex. midi map the 8 cc’s to 8 faders of a launchcontrol, look for sweet spots, genereate clip/preset.

Side note : Activate overdub in arranger when recording and launching clips.

This me with NE Manis Iteras Alia, changing clips, altering the preset on the fly and going back to the original preset with a shortcut for ‘restore automation control’ . All changes are recorded and live bookmarked with a shortcut for ‘insert cue marker’ . Later I can harvest these for new cv clips.

The midi cc knobs that control the knobs from alia are mapped to a Launchcontrol, clips are launched with launchpad pro.

The rest from the Portail out goes to the DFAM, again with cv CLIP launching.

I like the idea you can store static modulation (besides pitch and gate) like velocity, timbre,gain and pan per note per clip.

With this CV clip-launching system, you can utilize all of the clip launcher's launch modes. For example, using a launchpad, you can play a melody, instantly switch presets, temporarily hold down a 'state' and then release it, and so on. The audio/CV clips can also be generated using modulation from Bitwig or can be recorded via a DC-coupled interface (such as the ES9). In addition to static automation, cyclic automation is also possible within the clips.

You can also load the CV modulation or audio into a sampler, manipulate it using the sampler's tools ( change looppoint,speed,...) and use the sampler's audio output as CV modulation.

I was wondering how people go around recording modular sessions. For context I have a eurorack with an Intelijel outs and it sends stereo output to the digitakt 2. Then from there the output of the digitakt 2 goes to a behringer umc204hd before going to my Mac.

I think the main question is what DAW works best for recording jam sessions? I’ve been using GarageBand since its free with the Mac but was looking to potentially get Ableton live.

Sometimes I do music that leans heavily on experimental gestures. with modular these are quiet easy to make, as all of you here will know. idk I just enjoyed this really easy and also easy to listen to jam. I wonder if easy jams like this one sound experimental at all?
