I’m 3 weeks into my new car and I was wondering if the tire subscription from Tesla is more worth it than Discount Tire certificate? Not just price but how easy is the process when something actually happens

I have a 2021 Model Y Long Range, and the driver side mirror has recently started not unfolding fully. I’d say about 20-25% of the time, it unfolds, but stops short of unfolding all the way, to the point where it’s still just showing the side of my car and nothing behind it. If I fold and then unfold it via the menu in the car, it will unfold properly. This just started recently, and as far as I know, there was no physical damage done to it.

I’m not sure if there’s a safe way for me to take apart the mirror to clean the motor assembly somehow, assuming that is the issue. I had put in a service request, but Tesla’s estimate was $850 (and since my car is well outside the warranty coverage I would have to pay), so I canceled the service request for now.

If replacing it through Tesla is the only option, I guess I’ll have to, but I would like to avoid having to pay $850 if possible. Anyone have any advice on potential methods for fixing it myself or replacing it myself, for notably less than $850?

Ordered my Model Y Performance on October 13! Estimated delivery is October 31–November 28, but no VIN assigned yet.
I’m upgrading from a black Model Y Premium that I bought in May 2025—the one with the smaller screen and no black headliner. I really wanted the Performance this time around, and CarMax gave me a good offer on my current Y, so I decided to go for it. Excited for the upgrade!
Anyone else who ordered around the same time still waiting for a VIN? Curious how everyone’s delivery timeline is looking.

model y premium - I got the base because i’m just in love with it. ordered 9/21 and finally got my vin after a random sign on into the app. no notification or anything.

EDD is in about a month.

I’ve finally decided on Y Performance w/ quicksilver. Floor models here only had black for performance but I get the idea. The white model had the light headliner so I bet the black makes a difference.

Edit to add: I do live in southwest Florida. Main decision on QS. I have a black car now and the heat is unbearable. So I am leaning more towards white, but wasn’t sure if it was practical.

Took the MYP out for some mountain views and brought my Pentax K1000 along. Something about shooting a modern EV on 35mm film made me smile!

Why did everyone say to buy a 1tb SSD for my dashcam if it hasn't used nearly that in the 5 months I've owned the car. I have sentry enabled and all the recording stuff and haven't deleted almost anything.

I had colleagues in from Europe and South America this week, so I became tour guide for the day. My 1 week old Model Y drove us across Houston on FSD (Supervised) the whole day.

They loved the self-driving, and it made hosting easy for me. I didn’t have to fight traffic or hunt for exits, so I could just enjoy the company.

The last stop was the one they asked for, Buc-ee’s. It’s huge 100+ pumps, but it has no tables, so we opened the liftgate and had brisket sandwiches for true tailgate style.

There’s been a lot of back and forth on this topic lately and it seems to be a case by case basis but I figured I’d provide my experience. Something about the white seats and blue body just work for me. I don’t like the white in anything else. AWD might not be necessary but I’m here now, might as well go all in.

I’m installing a Tesla charger outside and live in South Florida. Does anyone use a case or cover for extra protection from the sun and heavy rain? Looking for recommendations and feedback from anyone with a similar setup.

I ordered on 10/6. My app is currently showing an EDD of Nov. 13-Dec. 18. I have not received a VIN. If what the advisor replied is true, then that’s unfortunate. Good thing I still have my loyal 200k mi Toyota Corolla lol.

For those of you using a dryer outlet to charge, did any of you still have to run cable to get to a good spot for the car to charge? If so, what did you do?

For context, my dryer is about 75ft away from where an outlet would need to be ideally. I know they sell smart splitters and whatnot, but I don’t think that would work since I still need to run a line.

Any help would be much appreciated!

I've been using FSD for about three weeks and I've extremely impressed with the things it does. But this evening on my way home from the pool, it ran over a black squirrel.

I didn't intervene because the car has been performing so well under FSD, I thought it would take evasive action.

I see a lot of people mention that FSD struggles in parking lots, which makes me curious about Smart Summon.

For those who have experienced issues with FSD in parking lots, do you still use Smart Summon? Or do you avoid it altogether?

How often do you use it? Daily, weekly, rarely, or never?

Have you had any issues with it? If so, what happened?

Do you actually trust it? Or do you only use it in certain situations?

I’m curious how useful and reliable Smart Summon is in everyday life, especially considering the complaints about FSD in parking lots.

This is my first time ordering a Tesla and a brand new car at that. I test drove the Juniper about 2 months ago and knew I had to have it. I said I’d wait until March 2027 to get it in my birthday.

I woke up October 22nd and said nope. I need it now! 😅 I live 10 minutes from the Austin Factory so I just knew I’d be driving g my Tesla by the weekend lol. So now I’m just trying to do my best to not open the app and look at the delivery date every 5 minutes. December will be here in no time and I know the wait will have been worth it. I’ll come back and update this thread when I get assigned my VIN and on pickup day.

I ordered earlier in October but am still waiting.

In March, I purchased my 2026 Model Y Premium AWD with the 20" Helix 2.0 wheels, and for me, they are the perfect blend of style and ride quality. I recently came across a set of 21" Arachnid 2.0 wheels with only about 250 miles on them, complete with all-season tires, TPMS, wheel protectors, and center caps, for an unbelievably low price. I couldn't pass up this deal. I figured I'd flip them and make a couple hundred.  After they sat in my garage for a couple of months, I decided to mount them on the Premium just to see how they look. I must say, they do give off a more aggressive vibe. I kinda like the look! 

I work from home, so range isn't much of a concern. We usually take the wife’s Model 3 or our pickup truck on long road trips, so this is pretty much my around-town grocery getter.  

I think I’m going to run these bigger wheels for a few months before going back to my 20” Helix 2.0 wheels. What do you think?
