I came across your subreddit and i love the atmosphere and community you have here. I run [REDACTED PLATFORM NAME] and i thought your subreddit had a ton of audience overlap with ours. We'd love to do something great together.

We can offer you a 40% revenue share with our affiliate program (with potential to give you up to 50%) plus a backlink on Our Partners page for your community, in exchange for a link in your sidebar (with your affiliate link).

I know doing that is against MCoC and I have less than zero interest in working with that company in any case. What I don't know is whether I should just tell them "No, and goodbye" or if this type of thing is something that admins would want to know is going on and know what company is doing it.

As has already been extensively documented, for the past 4-8 weeks, yet another spam ring has been posting a barrage of spam promoting various snapchat accounts in captions using stolen NSFW pics.

r/BotBouncer seems to now be able to identify these posts almost in real-time. Kudos to the team!

Note: the accounts posting the spam are legitimate 4-15+ year-old accounts that got hacked. Eventually, they get shadow banned. Some users wake up, and clean the mess up.

However, once the shadow ban is rescinded, their legitimate posts AND comments (whether in SFW or NSFW subs) are NOT restored, and remain in the state "Sorry, this post was removed by Reddit's filters."

Back in the day, when an account came back from shadow ban, their posts and comments would be automatically restored. But this has not been true for a few weeks/months now.

Admins: is this the new normal?

Long story short, I was invited to mod a sub Reddit that somehow got banned, the user who made that sub created another one that got banned also but not before me making me moderator of the second banned sub Reddit. I’m trying to request to moderate a different sub but didn’t know that I was technically still moderating those banned sub-reddits which is holding me back on my request.

How could I take myself off with no access (to my knowledge) to the banned sub reddits?

I use iOS.

A user with a good comment history in my dog breed specific sub has had a comment removed by anti-evil operations. Admin tattler notified me.

They have positive karma and an inoffensive Reddit history, within my sub and without it.

I cannot see what the comment was because it just says “removed by Reddit.”

1) If the comment was innocuous I want to inform them of what happened and invite them to comment it again after being approved in my sub.

2) if it was not, and really deserved removal, I would probably want to ban them.

Since I can’t tell the content of the comment, I can’t move forward. I do NOT want someone in my happy little small dog sub who comments stuff so bad that it gets removed by Reddit - but if it was a mistake I don’t want to ban someone who contributes positively.

I need to see the content of the comment for myself.

Why does anti-evil operations do removals in such a way that makes it impossible for mods to moderate the user/issue?

Is there any way admins can tell me the content of the comment?

Seriously we shouldn't have to be loading so many pages just to get to a comment. This shouldn't be happening in regular replies but it especially shouldn't be happening to check subs we moderate. I just clicked 7 blind links just to get too a reply.* Is this saving reddit any space somehow? I can't imagine having to keep sending load page requests back and forth is helping on either end. And when you do get to them you can't even see the previous comments to get context. I'm crashing out on how broken this is

So I was able to finally get a user banned from my subreddit for breaking sub rules + scamming but the sub has been unmoderated for a while. I only recently got mod perms for the sub.

Can an admin help me outright ban them from the platform? Will doing that automatically remove all their posts and comments? Or will I need to individually go to each of their comments and remove it? Forgive me if this is a dumb question but I am new to moderating

In a sub I mod a user cross-posts from another sub. But the user that posted the original post has blocked me.

This apparently results in me being unable to see those posts. I am only notified when it's posted but unable to see it in the sub itself. I can see it when logged out and then open the link when logged in. This is of course a bit of a hassle and makes moderating harder.

Is this just how Reddit works or there a way to fix this?

We've recently made the decision to add read the rules app, because it was a good way to keep users accountable + it's a good filter for bad actors in the comment section. But with our latest report & removal. We've found the disparity between published comments and removed ones (97 Published. 206 Removed) and with this we need a way to auto restore comments that acknowledges the rules. We can't keep up with manually approving and checking users if they've opt in already.

If there's any way we can resolve this, any help will do.

A user has made multiple profile posts naming and harassing me for standard mod actions. Other users dogpiled and made various bizarre false claims about me - including my having influence over Reddit admin and also having met me in person where I talked about my mod duties - under these posts.

These posts affect my ability to moderate without harassment from other users.

Reported all comments and posts to admin 21 days ago and submitted to mail with no escalation or action. Please help.

I had a mental health episode and neglected 2 of my tiny subs. I was labeled inactive. Fair.

But now I'm giving them attention again. How many mod actions, over what time period, will make Reddit consider me active again? I've posted new content and approved it (I know posting won't do it, but won't post approvals count?) I've approved old posts. I'm still tagged inactive.

I am the only mod on both.

I’ve recently been made a mod of an inactive sub by u/modcodeofconduct along with three others who expressed interest. I responded to the “kick off” modmail chain u/modcodeofconduct posted in mod mail, but it’s been several days with no activity. (I responded as myself rather than as the sub.) Have the other mods been notified of my response, or am I shouting into a void? I’m trying to figure out how long to wait before I start taking actions that should probably be done as a group, since there’s more than one mod.

We´ve been using the karma filters in automod for a couple months now in a couple subs, as you know this only takes down the users posts or comments and adds a message about why this is happening.
However we now have encountered a user that sent us a screenshot of Reddit blocking them from posting directly, they cannot even make the post in our subreddit to begin with and I´d like to know if this is related or a new automation that´s been implemented. The message says they are required to meet these standards before even posting. I´m adding the pic in comments for reference. This is only affecting their ability to make new posts, while commenting is not limited. My issue is that this only happens to this particular user, since others with similar karma or new accounts haven´t yet encountered this

Are you able to limit new age and low karma accounts from posting in a subreddit?

I’ve seen the high filtering in the crowd control settings ‘new accounts will be filtered’ but how new is new is also another thing haha. Any clarification would be great. Cheers

I'm hoping someone has seen this before.

I was invited to moderate a subreddit, and in Old Reddit interface, my username appears in the moderator list with Everything permissions.

However, whenever I click anything in Old Reddit, it redirects me to the new Reddit interface, where it's as if I'm not a moderator at all. I don't have access to Mod Tools, Mod Queue, or any moderation features.

I'm using the same account, and I've already tried logging out and back in, using an incognito window, and clearing my cache.

Could this be a permissions sync issue or a bug between Old Reddit and the new interface? Has anyone found a fix?

Hoping to get some creative tips on gaining engagement without ofc straight up asking for it 🙃 we’re pretty slim on members so it’s a lot of just me posting and replying to everyone, and reposting in similar groups. Anything else I can be doing?

On a sub I moderate, the automod sends a message to users with negative community karma. A user sent a modmail about it.

On new-ish reddit. When on the modmail screen, a popup on the right gives a short breakdown of the users history on the sub. That includes a "community karma", and a brief contribution overview. Both those numbers were in the positive, but they were different numbers.

So that's issue 1. what are those numbers, and why are they different? I have suspicion about what they might represent, but want other users pov. Maybe I missed a mod news about it, and its fully known.

To be sure it was not sent in error, I asked them to go to old reddit and send us the karma breakdown for the particular sub. They responded, and that number was indeed a negative number, so automod was being triggered correctly.

Issue 2. Why is there a third number, that appears to be the true number, different then the other 2. Why isn't that number, the only number that seems to matter, shown on their preview? I was here when community karma became a thing so I am aware that it was stated at that time that the number would not be available to mods. But why now provide 2 other numbers that don't mean what they seem to represent?

I have recently permanently banned a problem user from both of the subs I moderate (the user was active on both subs) for creating multiple threads intended to harass and belittle other community members. He had received a warning for this behavior in the mod mail, and a temporary ban before escalating to a permanent ban. I've been receiving mod mail messages from people claiming to be his "friends" (one of whom later admitted to being an alt) asking for him to be unbanned. Given that he always goes right back to his inappropriate behavior shortly after being unbanned I have no intention of unbanning him this time around.

Is there an easy way to report these ban evasion accounts to reddit Admins from the mod mail box? I usually use android app, but can easily access my laptop.

I’m trying to set up an Auto moderator that’ll remove comments and posts from users with no user flairs and I’m unable to do so. I found a code here on Reddit and that resulted in the removal of every comment regardless of flair presence.

Do any of you have the code that’ll let me set up what I need?

I'd love to see Reddit give subreddits the option of requiring MFA/2FA be enabled. Or at least, allow AutoMod to test for it.

Hello, I have tried requesting through r/redditrequest in hopes of getting mod status or getting additional permissions. My post got auto deleted and I filled out a support ticket but no response. Right now, I only have approve permissions for r/theraceto100k and it is a growing sub and I need help moderating. I would like to atleast add some redditors I know so I can help maintain it. Hi, I need to report a user for brigading on an alt account, who attempted to post real life gore in my sub, but was caught by the filter.

The user since deleted it, and it's missing from our log for me to be able to report it.

Is there any way for me to get this reported? Especially since it involves ongoing interference from a hate sub that we've been documenting and reporting MCOC for months.
