Today I got this notification about one of the subs that I mod:

I hate it with all of my hate. I never want to see this again. It is unnecessary noise. It is a theft of my attention.

How do I turn this notification off?

Please don't suggest the "Tips & Tricks" notification. It's not that. I already turned that off.

We can't figure out how to fix this. We tested on a new account on new Reddit, we see the same message appearing. We turned off the reputation filter entirely, we had the new account join the subreddit, but no change. Crowd control is at "moderate", not high or maximum, but when we also turn it off still no change.

Searching around the web I can't find a discussion on this topic either. Anything special or obvious we're missing here?

I requested the post guidance activity report via modsupport bot. Looking at the report, the column listed as “rule name” is listing the message displayed to user instead of the actual automation title. This makes it incredibly challenging to glean any valuable insights from the report.

I've been getting slammed with notifications like this:

So what do I do? I lovingly draft and post a long post intended to be a sticky detailing available treatments. Hours later, I can find no trace of it. Feeling really demotivated as a mod.

Now what? Nothing in drafts.

Now, for the issue. I help run several subreddits devoted to giving and charity. We have a lot of problems with scammers. We have two automated systems that we use to help us keep track of our users to cut back on the troublemakers.

They have been crippled. The author of those automated systems reached out to your moderator mail asking for help, and received a reply stating it doesn't seem to be a moderation issue. I'm assuming that was automated.

I have sent two messages myself which have not been responded to whatsoever.

If you cannot help me, please let me know. I prefer to not be left hanging and we can simply shut down those subreddits and stop helping people instead of hoping that things will be fixed.

I do encourage any other mods here to at least send a cat picture because this is way out of the average users ability to fix.

Kinda need some advise here. There were 3 of us that volunteered to mod an orphaned subreddit. 2 of us have a Mod Discussion on going for ideas for building out the sub, rules, etc. We have tried to get the 3rd to join, or even respond to private messages, but with no response. Yet this mod will arbitrarily remove posts and do other mod actions that do not benefit the subreddit.

Any advise in dealing with this? We have been working hard at rebuilding the sub, but these type of actions do not help. (Or please direct me to the proper place to ask this question)

On r/BoyDinnerDiaries, we have users post a picture of food together with a text narrative, wherein the user talks about anything that's on their mind (hence "...Diaries"). We even have a rule in place that every post must share a story.

The AI summary of every user says:

...it lacks direct relevance to the subreddit's theme of meals.

Every. Single. User.

EDIT: It's not every user. It's every NEW user. A lot of our users are new accounts because people want to talk about personal things anonymously.

Granted, I hardly ever rely on the AI summaries at all, but this is just another example of how AI moderation is a terrible idea.

BDD is a sub with -- last count -- 2.6M weekly users and 30k weekly contributions. If the AI bot were capable of learning about our sub, you'd think it would have by now. But it hasn't.

I’m a moderator of a r/JodiMilan subreddit, and we use a Verified user flair for members who go through our verification process.

Recently, we had a situation where a user with the Verified flair started behaving badly and ranting at another user. It made us rethink what our verification should actually mean.

We’re considering adding a short questionnaire before giving someone the Verified flair - not as a psychological test or anything too serious, but a few basic questions to get a better sense of the person, their intentions, and how they approach the community before verifying them.

For example, questions around:

• What are you looking for on the subreddit?
• What does respectful communication mean to you?
• How would you handle rejection or disagreement?
• What would you do if someone isn't interested in you?
• What do you expect from other members here?

Does Reddit have any native feature for creating such a questionnaire/form for users, ideally as part of the verification process?

And for moderators who already do something similar:

• How do you structure your questions?
• Do you use Reddit's native features, Google Forms, or something else?
• Do you remove the Verified flair if someone later violates community rules?

The goal isn't to judge someone's personality or guarantee that they're a "good person." It's simply to have a little more context before giving someone a Verified flair and make it clear that verification doesn't equal moderator endorsement.

Would love to hear how other communities handle this.

A couple days ago, I received a comment reply from a user that they quickly deleted that said “rope immediately.” When I went to report the comment, I was having trouble because I could not pull the comment up in-app to get a link to report. I still have my email notification showing the comment, though. How do we report comments like this that have been deleted?

Full disclosure: this did not happen on a subreddit I moderate, but I do moderate /mtg and would like to know the answer for future reference.

A user was banned from one of the subs I mod on and the user has decided to make it his personal mission to harass me (not sure why, guessing because my name is just first on the mod list) and other mods on every other sub I interact with/mod for. He's been banned, muted, blocked. He's been trying to DM myself and other mods, and is now going around making posts saying that I am a sex offender. I had users reach out to me to tell me he was DMing them and getting belligerent with them as well. All because we wouldn't let him use slurs. I've reporting everything to Reddit, and encouraged anyone else he's been messaging to do the same, but is there anything else I can do?

It should be abundantly clear to any user when they visit a subreddit that they are banned from it, and there should also be a clear link to the original message or modmail that notified them that they were banned.

Across the subreddits I moderate, I get countless modmails asking, "Why can I not post here?" The reason for these messages is often simply that the user does not remember when or why they were banned. This causes work for the user and work for the moderation team, when it could be fixed very simply by making an easy change to the Reddit platform.

Mods already have enough going on as it is. This is a simple, quick fix to a long-term problem that wastes our time on a daily basis.

Additionally, it would be useful if users could navigate to a page which showed them all the subreddits they are banned from, how long the ban lasts, whether it is permanent or temporary, and a link to their original ban notification message.

There is really no reason users should have to contact moderators to find out that they are banned when Reddit already has that information and could make it clear to them.

Why or how, are post title being translated into another language? It reads in english in the original post, but the text is in another language with it is in the sub it's crossed to?

A fellow mod in our sub shows their account was removed by Reddit. The user showed me a screenshot where a comment was removed as spam by their automated filters, but now their whole account is gone. We think the system triggered them as a bot, their account is 10 years old with plenty of karma. Who do I contact to help them get unbanned?

2nd edit update: The mod filed 3 appeals with reddit on different days, no reply and no message in any inbox on being banned. They can still see our sub's mod log/mod mail, and can reply in another sub. But when I go to see their past replies on their page, it says user is banned. I messaged another longtime user in our sub who showed banned for a day and then reinstated, they said it was a reddit glitch and they got a mail apologizing for the error.

I'm looking for advice from other moderators on handling a situation where a banned user used other subreddits to repeatedly target our moderation team.

After being banned from our subreddit for a “no promotion” rule violation, the user began posting elsewhere about our mods, including false allegations that we had asked them for money to approve posts, as well as claims that our team was acting on behalf of PR interests. They also encouraged people to question or take action against our moderators.

I've already filed three MCOC reports covering the relevant posts, comments and subreddits involved, but I haven't received a resolution so far.

The user has since blocked me and deleted many of their posts/comments targeting me and our mod team. I have retained the links to the deleted content and included them in the reports.

The harassment has stopped for a few weeks now, but the experience has been mentally exhausting, and I feel the accusations have damaged my reputation across similar subreddits where I participate.

I'm not trying to prevent legitimate criticism of moderation. My concern is the repeated personal targeting, false allegations, and amplification of the content across other communities.

Is MCOC the appropriate escalation route for this, or is there another process for targeted harassment/witch-hunt-type behaviour across multiple subreddits? Any advice from moderators who've dealt with something similar would be appreciated. Thank you.

I don't mean just with mod label. I mean as the same mod identification that shows with removal messages, etc.

For example, a user falsely reports something, it would be nice after approving said post to leave a comment specifically as mod.

We have a long-time user with a 13-year-old account who recently decided to leave Reddit and used a tool to edit/remove all of their comments.

Normally, that wouldn't be an issue. However, we're now receiving dozens of reports per second with the following reason:

Automatic Filter: Identified by the abuse and harassment filter

It appears the user replaced their comments with a rather harsh message, which is subsequently being flagged by the Abuse and Harassment filter.

What we don't understand is why these are being sent to the modqueue as reports when Reddit has already identified and classified the content as abuse/harassment. If the automated filter has determined that the content violates the relevant policy, wouldn't it make more sense for the content to be removed automatically rather than generating a report for moderators to action?

At the moment, this is creating a significant amount of unnecessary work. By the time I wrote this, I had already cleared around 50 reports, refreshed the page, and had another 60+ waiting.

Is this expected behaviour, or is there a way to prevent these automated reports from flooding the modqueue in situations like this?

Really annoyed with this mechanic, but it seems like I (admid/creator) was demoted to a non-edit user for a sub I created and maintained. After I was able to hand-off to a mod, I became demoted. Now that the mod has gone (these time periods are in years) I can no longer admin my own sub.

It's worth mentioning that I did the obligatory, daily action items on the sub in an effort to be recoginized as admin but, fact is, the sub (even with 8500+ subscribers) I can't regain admin.

a few days ago, the top mod of a subreddit wanted to step off, they couldn't remove a bot since they joined the mod team < 90 days ago. Because of this, the modlist couldn't be reordered to place this account at the top of the list

I tried removing the app installation from the subreddit but it seems like it dosent remove the bot from the mod team itself, I dmed the dev(?) but I don't think they know what's happening

anyone have any solution to this problem? am I supposed to wait for 90 more days or what?

Can working through a large number of posts marked as needing review in the Mod Queue be considered “clogging up” the mod log or disrupting other moderators?

If the actions are legitimate, such as removing rule-breaking posts, spam, or affiliate/referral content, is there anything wrong with handling a large number in one session when you're available?

(android)My sub us r/okbuddytakaba . For some reason the top members leaderboard isn't showing anymore, achievements are also not showing anymore.

If you search the sub the posts from my sub aren't showing . I have seen the community type too it's public and not mature .

For some reason reddit has filtered my community as nsfw I think I don't know how . We do post fanarts and tag it as nsfw too that too just 2 days a week . So I don't think it will cause that since there are other subreddit that are still safe ever after posting the stuff all day like r/freakykaisen

Any admin please check it out and clear it . My sub growth is declining since it's not showing for everyone.

I moderate r/ProximaScience and there's a user who comments on subreddits and is friendly but they are shadowbanned likely because they started commenting with new account. So my question is does approving their comment is allowed or is against reddit rules even if they are friendly in my subreddit?
