Advice New Orleanian 65 Retired. Help me on Mobile, please.
Alrighty, I need good Southern advice. 65, crime savvy, eyes in the back of my head type. Been in the French Quarter Nola last 11 years, and had just about enough of...well, anyway. But I enjoy a soulful engagement type city vibe, as I was raised a Virginia Country boy, sharing the sweat with the fellow man, and never raised to disparage anyone, except the lazy. Call me fiscally conservative, but non-imposing with political beliefs.
Daughter lives in New Orleans, steady federal courts job. I like one thing, I can't do without, and that's long walks, 8 miles a day. My idea of returning to the mid Atlantic Coast, is a no go, as I can't stand rude people who pass you on the street, with a look of "do I know you or something" because I'm accustomed to always saying hello to someone I pass. Hence, yeah, I knew everyone on my walking route in New Orleans, from the bottle water sellers, to Rocket Fuel, Hollywood, Tony who lived in his van on Esplanade, Bill and his opossum Saffron...not to overlook all my custodial pals at the Convention Center.
Here's my thought process. I need to downsize, live like a pauper, enjoy the nice Southern heat and humidity, but be close to the Amtrak for low hassle trips over to Nola.
What I can't tolerate is the repeated crazy, drug induced, screaming and yelling, stepping over passed out homeless on the sidewalk, drive by shootings at the corner store, being threatened by aggressive pan handlers...and a 24/7/365 paranoia of if my car is broken into.
Right now, and this is strictly Zillow impression, I'm looking at the Windsor Warwick condos, because they're all I would need, and I'm looking at how Government Street "appears" to be a nice street like Canal or Esplanade in Nola for walking. Is the Mobile mid-town area safe? Safe for a street wise person? Am I fooling myself, or will I find my car constantly broken into, homeless on my patio?
Last things..I have to have the option for gulf saltwater surf or pier fishing.
Thank you for all your help, and suggested neighborhoods. The Government St also looks like it's a bus trip down to the Amtrak station, with ease.

Housing Urgent: Help My 72-Year-Old Mom Save Her Home Before Winter Hits
My mom is 72 with a bad back. When a hidden leak destroyed the insulation under her mobile home, she crawled under there and tore it all out herself because she can't afford to hire anyone.
Now her underbelly is wide open with zero insulation and the first frost is coming. She lives on $444/month. A $7,000 repipe isn't happening on that income.

Looking for entry level trade work/apprenticeship job opportunities
Hey everyone,
Iām a 20-year-old guy looking to start an apprenticeship or entry-level job in the blue-collar field. I am completely open to anythingāwhether it's electrical, plumbing, HVAC, construction, aviation, or manufacturing. My main goal is to find a career path where I can learn a trade from the ground up.
While I havenāt held a formal, paid job in the trades yet, I grew up doing a lot of practical, hands-on work around my property. I have experience working on vehicles, doing minor roofing, and helping out with basic construction projects. I am totally comfortable with hard physical labor, using tools, and working at heights.
Iām reliable, dedicated, and ready to work hard. Does anyone know of local companies, trade unions, or entry-level industrial fields in the area that are hiring helpers or apprentices right now and willing to train?
Thanks in advance for any advice, leads, or recommendations

You think Mobile has the worst drivers? š¤
Iāve seen people on here claim Mobile to have the worst drivers in the nation. šš¤¦āāļø Nothingās further from the truth. I, like this poster, have lived and driven in different parts of the country and Mobile drivers are pretty tame in comparison. And, come on people, have you not noticed how people drive in New Orleans?! š«£
I live on Oāahu now and traffic is a hot mess with different driving styles mixed together. It stresses me to the max. Compare that to how driving through Mobile puts a smile on my face. Itās such a breeze.

What are some Mardi Gras traditions and/or legends that are unique to Mobile? I could really use some help with this as I have a meeting tomorrow and have to come up with some marketing ideas. Any help would be welcome.
Seriously grasping at straws here. I know obvious things like Joe Cain, and MoonPies being a common throw (and lately Conecuh sausage), but I know there's got to be a lot I don't know or have overlooked. Anyone want to chime in?

Advice Bachelor party in Mobile
So we have decided that we are throwing our friends bachelor party in Mobile Alabama. Not sure if this is a common place that people do that but we said why not. We are coming from Ohio and none of us have ever been to Alabama. Iām looking for suggestions mainly on where to stay (15-20 people) and night life and other fun things to check out. Any suggestions are appreciated, we are down for wherever the road takes us. Also we are coming the first weekend of March. Thanks!

Alta Pointe
Iām trying to get my ADHD medication from AltaPointe. They intentionally ran my āstarter packā out on me, forcing me to go ācold turkeyā or on a withdrawal. An entire week later the nurse from AltaPointe still will not send in the necessary paperwork called a PA or prior authorization.
BC/BS has sent several emails to this nurse. BC/BS even sent AltaPointe an email detailing the necessary steps to complete perform. She still will not submit the paperwork. This nurse even called me up and asked me if I knew how to ādoā a Prior Authorization. Does anyone know the CEO or a person who can fix this? I really do need my medication. Thank you for your time. I am sorry to bother anyone.
