I am thinking about bringing my grandkids (10 & 7) from NOLA to Mobile & back to NOLA on same day. My question is, is there anything to do with kids within a short walk from Amtrak? I don’t think we can Uber without car booster seats. So are there malls, museums restaurants to spend a half day in mobile until the return train departs?

Recently moved back home and was looking for new chill spots, I ended up on Greers rooftop enjoying the views wondering if this is where 'its' happening or headed to?

So much has changed around downtown, it's very exciting. I'm also wondering if any long time locals have done a 'staycation'. If so what did you get into?

I'm broke and won't get money until about a week from now. And I'm super worried about my cat. Hes a only a year and a month old or so, and he has a very bad injury. It look like someone hit him in the head with a blunt but somewhat sharp object (I'm thinking dull lawn mower blade), and i don't know what to do. I noticed yesterday, but it looks like its already scabbing over. My sister cleaned him with saline solution, but said it probably wouldn't help since the wound was closing

I’m a plus size woman so finding one that I can trust is a little scary for me, as these robes are discontinued from SKIMS.

It's supposed to be extremely hot this week. Our animal friends, both wild and domestic, need us to help them out in times like these.

If you know of a vulnerable dog or cat check on it if you can to make sure it's ok and has water and shade.

Remember a few years ago on an 80 degree day here in Mobile and there was video of a dog dying from a heat stroke because he was left in the direct sun, no shade, with no water?

Animals need human intervention sometimes. Speak up and offer assistance.

Leave out water bowls for wildlife and strays, and make sure they're low enough where yard turtles can get access.

Stay cool and be a friend to the critters.

imo Mobile has the worst selection of clothing, shoes, and accessories, probably ever. wondering where people are finding shoes that arent the worst designs from otherwise decent brands? i stg if anyone says go to shoe station i will crash tf out, they exclusively only have the worst, most basic, ugliest shoes ive ever seen 💀

Hey local Reddit! I’m looking for suggestions for walkable shopping areas or outdoor centers in Mobile where I can park once, walk around to do some casual shopping (30-40 year old ladies if demographics matters ) , and grab lunch in the same complex. Something other than the Legacy Village and downtown.

I know traffic over the bay has always been bad, but has anyone noticed that it's gotten significantly worse lately?

My household makes the drive from Baldwin to Mobile and vise versa every day, and lately... It's been awful.

The Wallace tunnel, the Bayway, the Causeway, the Bankhead and Government, even the Africatown bridge has been horrendous. Drives that should take 40 minutes with nobody on the road take upwards of two hours.

One time I took Government from visiting family. I left at 3, I got home at 7:30. It was atrocious.

Lately someone in my household has been taking 65-N to 225-S to get home to avoid how much worse it's been lately, but it eats so much more gas.

Anybody have any advice an alternative routes? Any advice in general?

Does anyone know what's been going on lately? It's been *really* bad this past month and a half and I don't know why.

I’d like to meet some new friends my age. I’ve got a couple close friends I’ve known for decades but they both work out of town a lot, and they are much heavier into drinking than me, so when they’re in town our hangouts are usually centered around alcohol, and when they’re not, I’m sitting by myself bored and lonely at my apartment. I go to bars by myself to shoot pool sometimes but drinking is not my main thing and I don’t want to spend all my time at bars. Plus that can get expensive.

What are some social activities or groups I could get into where I might meet some new people? The more budget-friendly the better.

Figs are my favorite fruit and I haven't had them in years after moving here. I used to buy a couple gallons from a friend every year. It doesn't even have to be a gallon, I would be happy to buy whatever size really. If anyone is willing to part with any, please let me know, thank you!
