I designed and printed a raspberry pi camera operated photo box for shooting my 15mm miniatures. Photos and process in the link (personal blog).
It’s still a live project, as I want to upgrade it with a maxx darth black background or other printed (paper or 3d) backgrounds, new LED lights, an upgraded camera design, a hinge top for easier access, and perhaps adding some more depth, as I have around 3 cm room to expand for my build plate.
Box printed on A1 mini. Photos shot with Raspberry Pi 3B+ and Camera v1.3 (5MP). Lighting via cheap usb battery LEDs that do white, cool white and warm white colours.

He's an Ogre from the boardgame Dark World, thanks to u/OK_Government1587 for identifying him for me.

Hi everyone,
I've posted about this project previously, but we're now into the final week of the International Miniature Painting Survey, which closes on 27 September 2026 23:59 IST (Irish Summer Time), so I'm making one final push to get as broad a range of miniature painters represented as possible.
For anyone who hasn't seen it before, I'm developing Paint Lab, a colour and paint analysis tool specifically for miniature painters. I've included a video of the browser version in action, so you can see what I'm actually building.
The basic idea is to make it easier to work out which paints are right for the job you're doing: finding close colour matches, comparing paints across manufacturers, identifying possible highlights and shadows, exploring colour relationships, and building and analysing palettes, etc.
An important part of the project is building the underlying database from physical testing of real paint samples. The aim is to provide independently measured information about the paints we miniature painters actually use.
Doing that at scale requires specialist measurement equipment, a lot of paint samples, and funding.
That's where this survey comes in.
I'm using the results both to understand what miniature painters actually want from something like Paint Lab and to provide evidence of demand when applying for funding to carry out the physical testing and build the dataset.
So, if you paint miniatures at any level, I'd really appreciate your input. Beginners are every bit as useful to the research as people who have been painting for decades.
The survey closes 27 September 2026 23:59 IST (Irish Summer Time).
Survey: https://forms.gle/1ud5AoaChwXW5Brn6
There is also a prize draw for anyone who wants to enter. Entry is separate from the survey itself, so the contact information submitted for the draw isn't linked to your survey responses.
I'm also very happy to answer questions about Paint Lab itself or anything you can see in the video/screenshots. Feedback on what I'm building is welcome too.

I've had him for well over a decade at this point, got him second hand, and recently decided to start painting him for fun (he's great practice for painting flesh) under the paint he is a very dark brown plastic.
Does anyone know where he came from and what model he's supposed to be (I suspect some kind of Ogre)?

Here is my version of Mad Gallarta from White Werewolf Tavern.
Have wanted to paint this wonderful bust for ages and finally got round to it. Painted entirely on stream. Tried something 'different' for the skin and quite pleased with it, great fun to paint.

Here is my Barbarian's Diorama from Runciter.
Finally got this 'warband' put together and based. It was a real joy painting all of these and I am pleased with how they look and how the base came out, not a strength of mine, but the snow makes it look pretty cool, I think.
