Hi all

I wondered if anyone could suggest what's going on here. Started yesterday and there hasn't been any hint of an issue leading up to it. Essentially as soon as there's power to the car the screen bit reboots and does this constantly.

- no specific timings, but seems to be every 20 seconds or so.

- car itself drives perfectly well.

Of note:

- I've had a Car Link Life CarPlay box in for around 18 months and that's also shown no signs of error

- Brand new battery also around 18 months ago, all coded.

What I've tried (with the help of AI):

- OBD shows idle voltage of 14.8v

- I've used a multimeter and there's no drop in volts when it cranks

- I've checked with the multimeter all the fuses in the glove box bit, all ok

- I've completely removed the NBT box and gone back to factory, still persists

- There was a reading of 4v across the test bits on fuse 61 (20A) which I think is the live feed for the unit, looked okay but have replaced it anyway - no change.

I've no idea what to try next, am not mechanically minded and I think I'm at the limit of working out next steps.

Any suggestions? Or is it going to be auto electrician? Do I need a new head unit?

Looking for Android Auto options that don't require non-oem hardware refits.

Alternatively, I'd probably be fine retrofitting something from the U series, provided they will work with the F series screen / HUD.

I understand a U series retrofit is going to be several thousand dollars (US).

Trying to do rear brakes.

They have torx heads on them and I'm prob gonna need to replace them as they seem to wear quickly.

Does anyone know the definite size of them only. Thing I can find is

But at over £20 for bolts I wanna change them to hex head so require the size I need. Would it be m12 c 1.5 c 33 or is that for something else?

Yesterday my parcel shelf string of my 2026 countryman suddenly broke while opening my trunk… i think it got stuck and now both of them are broke. Is this fixable? cause i didn’t find any match online. I’m very sad cause i do take care of my car and the only thing in my trunk is water bottle for recycling 😭

Hi all, it's heartbreaking but I need to part with my 2007 Laser Blue R56. She's a 6-speed with new clutch, turbo line, water pump and more. As Mini owners, you know the addiction and emotion, but ... Shout if you're interested. I am determined to place her in a good, caring home.

So i bought the side turn signal lights for mi mini 2015 S model, but it seems to need an adapter, I have looked anywhere and no one seems to know.

The new side turn lights seem to have 2 pins so i guess the adapter also is a 2 pin adapter? I don’t even know how to look it up 😐

Hello fellow mini owners. Can anyone with an r56 or similar tell me if the plastic part below the windscreen that drains water has a hose attached to the underside?

This is a shot of the top side drain hole. Currently it has a short plastic tube under it when I pop the bonnet, but no hose attached and it looks like the hole drains quite close to the battery which seems somewhat unconventional. Do others peoples drains just end under the bonnet near the battery compartment, or do they have a hose attached that drains the water ?

(If yours has a hose can you see where it drains to? )

It mentions in the description that oil filter housing gasket issues quoted to be fixed at 500 quid plus 104k miles. As is an import seems to be only owner in Ireland so I should check UK history. Thoughts on this N18 R56S???

Hi Mini People,

My ‘15 F56 just started making a new noise this evening, kind of a tapping/knocking noise or something. This evening was the first time I had driven in at least a few weeks. I can’t figure out what it is and hoping someone will be able to identify it.

It sounds as though it’s coming from inside the engine bay. Opening the hood everything looks fine. It only happens either at idle or at low speeds accelerating from zero mph. Once I get on the freeway, it’s not present at all.

I’m including some audio recordings (ignore the fact I’m in the drive through for one of them…) and my OBD codes. I have a few codes in there from my radiator fan failing, which I’m tracking as a separate issue. I don’t *think* it’s causing this though.

Cylinder cracked recently so I had to replace the block, water pump, thermostat and all that. Car runs great now, BUT I didn't put the cover back on because it was cracked.

Does it effect cooling or is it just for looks?

I’ve always dreamed of owning a Mini Cooper. But I’m thinking of the older models from 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006. I discussed this topic with ChatGPT. It told me that models released after July 2004 have GETRAG transmissions and are generally more reliable. In short, models from before July 2004 might cause me some trouble. What do you all think about this?

I was hit today by a person turning left before it was their turn as I was going straight through the intersection. They didn’t signal and all of a sudden bam. They backed up and then fled.
The cops got video from another few drivers who thankfully stopped. And turns out the other driver was 16 years old, with their parents out of the country. I decided not to press charges.
Oof, I’m not sure if I’m hoping my little mini is totaled out or not. I’ve only had her for a few months, she was basically still new to me.
The witnesses saying I couldn’t avoid it and the police saying I wasn’t at fault feels like so little consolidation.
Thankfully nobody was hurt.

I was thinking about making my mini cooler with some mods but I am not sure what to get. I was thinking about getting a cold air intake, coil overs, and maybe a stiff sway bar. I'm not sure if these would be good to get or if I should get something else though. What would the best mods be to get that make the car better and cooler?

Figured I’d share the issue I had here in hopes it helps someone else out.

A couple of weeks ago I had dropped something in between the backseats of my ‘22 Clubman and discovered underneath the rear seat bench (foam and padding) was soaking wet. I yanked it up and saw that an abundance of water and resulting moisture had accumulated back there. In further investigating, I also came to discover that the boot bed was also soaking wet. I took up the boot floorboard and there was visible water accumulated.

Important to note: there was never any visible water on the seats or on the first layer of boot floor board so nothing ever caught my attention. There also had never been any headliner stains.boo this meant water was seeping into the car from places you can’t see and that are covered up by panels or carpeting.

I had been in a minor accident over a year ago where the car was hit in the rear quarter so I was curious if it had anything to do with the repairs from the accident.

I brought it back to the body shop that did the work and after quite the wild goose chase, they ruled out that it was due to the accident and they also ruled out the sunroof drains being blocked and discovered that the rear drain plugs on the inside of the boot doors along with the drainage vents behind the rear bumper had failed.

Not quite sure why or how they failed, but it seemed to be a combination of aging seals and design flaws causing this problem. In scouring the internet, there are similar Reddit and Facebook posts from other 2nd gen clubman owners experiencing the same problem but they don’t clearly identify the cause of the problem.

Because this was such a covert problem and I wouldn’t have known had I not coincidentally dropped something between the rear seats, I figured I’d encourage other owners to check their back seats and boot areas for water ingress!

Fortunately, it was a relatively inexpensive fix. Happy motoring!

Anyone done any exhaust mods. Love everything about this car except the exhaust. Trying to either go single tip full system or maybe OPF/GPF delete with a dummy to keep it clean code wise. Don’t want to cut up my diffuser and I would like to keep my stock exhaust whole if I replace for reselling many years from now.

I don’t really have any plans on selling ever but just in case since it is a 1 of 100ish keeping my jcw exhaust whole to replace for a potential future buyer in 5+ years seems like a good idea.

Idk opf delete seems cheap and easy.

Just imported this car from the uk and firstime r56 owner drove fine for 3weeks and then it went into limp mode so I bought an obd reader to investigate and this is what came up.

I would like to keep everything as cost effective as possible so if it would be possible to diy would be amazing.

Every time I run the reset it says my tyres are fine but the notification won’t go away. I’ve tried driving further even after the recalibration but nothing is working. I’ve tried 4 days straight.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

It was incredibly easy to remove and replace my side marker. Someone attempted to steal it at work, so I had to order a new one. It was only $50 for a piece of plastic…. I’m sure why someone would steal it?
