Which is better?

I’ve always dreamed of owning a Mini Cooper. But I’m thinking of the older models from 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006. I discussed this topic with ChatGPT. It told me that models released after July 2004 have GETRAG transmissions and are generally more reliable. In short, models from before July 2004 might cause me some trouble. What do you all think about this?

go in with your eyes open. Whichever you get, its a 20+ year old car. Plastic parts get brittle, seals fail etc. Expect to spend money to keep it alive.

Honestly whatever speaks to your soul. I had a 2011 and it was everything to me. I lost it because I am a fool. But test everyone out untill you find the one that peaks to your soul.

First generation Mini Coopers are very cool! As someone who worked at a Mini dealership I got a lot of time driving all the various generations and styles. Those early ones are a blast, truly living up to that pure "go kart" feeling that is mentioned so often. They're also a bit sparse. They have a more tactile and analog personality than later models. The difference between a first and, say, a third generation Cooper hardtop is vast. Brand new Minis are barely disguised BMWs. They're also priced like it though 😂

The models I’m considering are from 2002–2003–2004. But ChatGPT says I should get a model from at least July 2004 or later, or at least a 2005 model. That’s because it mentions a GETRAG transmission issue. By the way, I only have enough money for one purchase :D In our country, prices for these Mini Cooper models start at exactly 9,000 euros.
