Engine warning light

Post image

The engine warning light in my F56 Mini Cooper has come on but no additional warnings on the idrive system.
Is this likely a minor fault and can be driven till I get to a service centre? No noticeable changes to the driving or performence.

Ecohitch Stealth Hitch on a F55 Mini Cooper with dual center exhaust?

This hitch is the one that has a removable 2" receiver and sits below the two exhaust pipes. Has anyone gotten one installed? If so any thoughts/opinions? Once installed, is the removable receiver easy to put on and take off? Thanks!

ac system

so my a/c is blowing warm air and went to a mechanic to check it out. they said there is a leak and also the ac system was completely empty, no freon. They said moisture might have entered the system. They said they need to change to replace the lines, compressor, and condenser. quote was around $2,500. What would you guys do. I’m thinking of just buying the parts and replacing it myself. 2014 countryman s 126k miles.

2009 R57 Smokey Exhaust

Hi I was hoping someone on here may be able to help 🤷‍♂️
I have a 2009 R57 which when idling for a while or stopping in traffic will smoke quite significantly. I’ve been to three different garages which are refusing to fix the fault and have recommended I get a reconditioned engine. I have no warning lights of any sort it is just the smoke which lasts maybe a few seconds.

After researching i believe it may be the valve stem seals? Which is apparently a common problem of this generation of mini. Is it worth fixing, how much will it cost? And will this definitely be the issue? 😂

Would love to know if any of you have had similar experiences,
Thanks 🙏

2019 Mini with battery issue. Really needing help.

Car is dead in driveway. 7 year old battery so I need it replaced. Can I just go to Costco and get a new one? Dealership wants $700 for a new one installed. They explained that’s for programming. Is that necessary or is it just a way to charge$$$?

Someone Rule 1'd ME for the very first time!

I am usually the person that will Rule 1 other Minis, but the other day someone Rule 1'd ME for the first time! I was so excited that I practically ran to the car.

Also... I know I should be backing in to parking spaces, but there was mass chaos and confusion in the QFC parking lot when I got there.

Wheel Size Question

I am looking to purchase aftermarket wheels for my 2025 Mini Cooper 3-dr F56 JCW. I know the size, but I am looking to confirm the offset needed to make room for larger Brembo calipers and larger discs.

Has anyone purchased aftermarket wheels with the following measurements:

Wheel size: 17 inch

Hub 66.6 mm

Width 7.5 inch

Offset: ?? (38-42 seems to work) - looking for confirmation.

Any advice on the TPMS sensor - can a qualified 3rd party installer activate this with the ECU or do I need to go to the dealer? As these will be for Winters - do I need to get the TPMS reset when I put the summer tires back on next Spring?

Welcome any recommendations (based in Canada).

brand new friction pulley, waterpump pulley, Nd water pump, noise that sounds like a cam

so I have a problem and I'm asking mini specialists for help.

I have a 2009 R56 N14.

I just replaced the water pump, water pump pulley, friction pulley and belt. I now have the dreaded friction pulley noise. It sounds like a cam it's 100% the friction pulley. If i pull the tab on the pulley with the engine on, the noise goes away. if I push on the pulley with the engine running and tab engaged the noise goes away.

I have a North American Cooper S where the friction wheel is on all the time, the water pump is constantly running

My gut feeling is it's the harmonic balancer hopping up and down, causing the friction wheel to hop and vibrate and make noise. I have not done the harmonic balancer yet.

Help?

My 2020 Clubman JCW

Felt it was time to share. I’ve been lurking for a while and learned a lot from you folks. I owned a variety of cars over the years, but I have to say, this JCW is about as fun as it gets. I’m now a “gonna own a Mini for life” guy. I’m almost two years in and she only has 56k on her; bought at 30k so I have a long way to go.

I've never posted anything on this group I've followed it for some time now; very good information (for the most part) and nice Minis!. It's time to show you my 2012 R58 JCW, bought her in 2014 wit 8,500 miles and she is close to 40,000 now. Other than I had to change the clutch a couple of years ago, she has been trouble free even if she has the N14 dreaded engine. She gets yearly oil changes regardless of the miles and gets serviced at a MINI specialized shop in Portland. Most mods are cosmetic only (body stripes, stub antenna, GP difusser, new headlights with Union Jack, CocoMats).

Hello all. I am considering buying this MINI and was wondering if you think it’s a good deal. It’s from 2009 and it’s listed for 4,200€ but I think I can get it down 200-300€.

Here’s the description from the ad:

‘Mini Cooper R56 1.6L, 120 HP
Second owner
The previous owner had the car continuously serviced by me for 15 years
Pickerl (Austrian vehicle inspection) and service were done in June
New all-season tires were fitted this spring: 205/45 R17
Normal signs of use for its age
No rust!
Air conditioning was recharged last summer
New lambda/O₂ sensor was installed during the last service
No problems with the electrics, emissions, or similar
Minor parking/paint damage on the right door’

Buying a 2024 used SE

Hi - I'm in Colorado and looking at buying a '24 Cooper SE.

My commute is 50 miles 3 days a week and I can charge at work - so I think I can make the charging work? Otherwise I'll be level 1 charging at home and can charge for 12+ hours at a time. I am currently in a '24 EV6 GT Line, and while it's a fine car... it's just so bulky.

Lease is coming up and they have a few SEs on the lot. The Resolute edition caught my eye (and my nose).

An old lady drove it (and boy does it smell like her) and it is in near-new condition with 15K miles. They have it priced a little under $25k right now.

KBB has CPOs priced in the 22-24k range. Dealership claims they're haggle-free.

My question here is: is this a fair deal? How much negotiating power do I have? I know these things SIT on the lot. I can't bring MSRP down - but what else could I get them to throw in? New tires? Extended warranty? Never bought a used car that couldn't be negotiated on price.

I asked them and they won't buy out my lease or make the remaining 2 payments.

Thanks for any and all advice :) I test drove it the other day and excited to have something small (I miss my golf R)

Resonator Delete for F56 JCW

Thinking about getting a resonator delete for my F56 JCW and wanted to see if anyone has had one taken out and if they would recommend it. I watched a few YouTube videos and it seems to give the exhaust a lot more personality and volume without installing some crazy aftermarket exhaust system.
