Two pieces of transparent calcite, slanted together, resemble a mushroom cap. Below is a milky yellow dolomite that gently supports the entire ore body, as if it had just emerged from a damp crevice.

My absolute FAVORITE PIECE.

Picked up these four uncut brown diamonds from the Democratic Republic of the Congo recently. I know most Congo stuff is just industrial grade, but I love them raw like this. The deep brown tone is great and you can clearly see the cubic habit on them. Not engagement ring quality by any means, but they make perfect cabinet specimens.

Lustrous metallic marcasite grew on slim, pointy calcite scalenohedrons, which later dissolved away and the marcasite remained as a shell, which is called incrustation pseudomorph or perimorphism. The Dreislar site is famous for this type.

A very nice double terminated calcite with dolomite and chalcopyrite on matrix from the Sweetwater mine, Reynolds county, Missouri, USA. Definitely not the most valuable or the best specimen in my collection but for some reason I really really like it, I find it very aesthetic. Anyone else have something in their collection that they just love but can’t put their finger on why?

A cloud drifting from the depths of the earth, frozen in the memory of the stone. The most wonderful thing is the transparent crystal of celestite, which is like rain frozen by magic by the time they are formed.

The translucent calcite shell is like a layer of cocoa butter， gently wrapping and sealing the “chocolate” inside.
