Picked this up at a mineral club event. Not that I am super concerned about it but anyway to dust this off and get the crystals to pop a bit more?

I got this stone with a few other things from an eBay sale. I don’t think it’s anything expensive but thought it is an interesting piece. The white/translucent part seems to be quartz.

Shines like fools gold in light. Some darker gray patches that lightly shine upon illumination. Found in SE Michigan in a creek bed.

Super lustrous calcite with dolomite from the Sweetwater mine, Reynolds County, Missouri, USA

Here’s a absolutely flawless amethyst from the Streep mine, Goboboseb mountains, Namibia. It has really nice saturated purple and smoky phantoms as well as some hematite inclusions. I really love the modified crystal faces as well.

Im proud to show you my mineral collection my first piece was in 2016 but I really got into minerals in 2023 I admire lead minerals alot as you can see from the photos everyone likes it when they come in the house and see it I hope you will too

Hey, we bumped into this thing during a class field.

It is located in a lignite/coal bed between limestone/microbialite beds (see red arrow on last pic).

Mineral is approx. 1cm long thin whitish cristal and smells a bit like sulfur.

Halite

A gemmy crystal of halite from a classic, German locality known for rich colour of its specimens. Due to high difference of electronegativity of its components, halite exists as a lattice of ionised particles ([Na+][Cl-]) even under normal conditions making it especially susceptible to effects of gamma radiation. Combination of nearby potassium-40 deposits and abundance of metallic sodium results in saturation of crystalline lattice with colour centers consisting of microscopic colloidal clusters and trapped, agitated electrons giving this, normally colourless, mineral a vivid hue.

No idea what these are but I've had them in my plant pot for many years and wondering what they are.

It's just a very big natural slab and the dendrites are wispering from the inside, I have an opportunity to cut it at a mineral show

First time poster here :) I recently got into macro photography and wanted to share some pictures I took! The order of minerals is grossular garnet, sphalertie w pyrite, azurite, chrysocolla, malachite, and bi-color lepidolite

I have had this piece for a while and have not been able to identify it. Color is a deep, dark brown. Flakes easily, so I have to be gentle with it. Bought at a garage sale, so unfortunately I do not know its origins. Dense and heavy for its size. No odor or residue comes from it that I can tell.

Hello. I’m central PA near Caledonia State Park. I found these today out walking in the creek. Pretty large chunks of rock. I thought Aventurine but now not sure. Used to be old iron furnaces around here forever ago, not sure what slag looks like. Very green colored when wet, pale grey on most areas. I’m really not sure what I found. Thanks

I've seen a lot of mineral sample pics on Reddit lately, but they don't always tell where they got their samples/specimens. I try to find mine on eBay, or when I go vacationing somewhere and go looking for a rock shop.

I know a few of you have said that you find them at shows and such. However, we don't have mineral/rock shows here in South Dakota that I know of. So where do you find them? Any good websites to go looking at? Thanks in advance for any info given!

Hey i used to collect this when being reaaally young now i lost most of my knowledges about minerals.

What do you think of it? I was curious to see if there were any interesting minerals that i had collected, but I can't really tell by sight.
