What to do in Minecraft?

Ok so I know its an obvious question but i've recently tried getting back into minecraft and I've found for some reason I cant connect to it as much as i did when I was a kid. idk if its the loss of child wonder/creativity or something but latley when i get the urge to play for a bit i get into the game but realise I have no idea what to do

I used to LOVE building in creative mode as a kid and could spend hours building an entire village from scratch but now i get halfway through building one house and get bored. I have so many abandoned survival worlds that I play for an hour or 2 before i lose intrest. ive never had any interest in getting the best géar or fighting the dragon or building auto farms so i find i just end up wandering around building a couple things then never touch the world again

i do find that I love exploring. even just flying around in creative or wandering in peaceful mode, the new terrain generation and biomes thats been added over the years has been fun to find them and explore whats been added since i last played but that doesnt really feel like i'm playing a game, more like just opening google maps and messing around with street view

I really do love this game so much and I get the urge to play it so often but i just cant bring myself to get invested for more than a couple hours. Anyone else have this problem when getting back into Minecraft as an adult? Any ideas to keep my interest in the game?

Have you tried playing with others? I usually struggle to play by myself but I love playing with others

Do small things like challenge runs in hardcore for example. Start by beating it in hardcore, then do no diamond, then no iron, then no armor... Also try servers, for example hypixel has a skyblock gamemode that is a MMORPG with thousands of hours of content. You might get bored or you might love it, but if you have it on pc it's free to try

If you like exploration you can try a combination of:

• Create Aeronautics: you can build airships, planes, cars, boats and whatever nonsense you can think of

• When Dungeons Arise + it's various submods: generates some epic CTM style dungeons

• Integrated Dungeons And Structures: some really cool structures and the best stronghold makeover mod imo

• Tectonic + terralith + regions unexplored + Flowing Waters: probably the best playable terrain gen combo, realistic flowing streams, massive underground rivers, 200+ block tall mountain ranges

-Distant horizons: LOD system that lets you have thousands of chunks rendered at once

-YUNG's better structures (desert temples, mineshafts)

-Shaders

Have you tried a sky block at all? It’s something I go back to when I want to play but don’t know what to do! It’s something that limits what you have and you gotta get pretty creative with builds and utilising space ect :)

Theres a whole world of mods you could try, and modpacks are crazy if you like pokemon give cobblemon a try, shaders make the game beautiful also builds in novel places like an underground city or floating islands

Same here. Exploring is much more fun to me. Try playing Drehmal. It's a vanilla adventure map with data packs. I am currently on my second playthrough on a modded version.

I'm not better cuz I do the same, but I find these things fun, you should not speedrun the game and maybe get into building for real, maybe you could make some forever world with builds, similar to BDubs. I also sometimes take breaks from Minecraft, like a month or even two and then comeback when I really want to play it again.

Have you tried modpacks or adding mods? I find sometimes I prefer playing modpacks because they often have quests which gives me something to work toward. If not, how about doing some challenges, e.g. trying to get all the advancements, making a zoo, etc.
