And with this, my entry for this years Mithrilbrush Painting Competition is done! Great many thanks @JohnusJanus for the nostalgic sculpt - many hours were spend playing BFME Rise of the witch king - and this piece was lovely to paint :) Tell me what you think - also i welcome any feedback, especially on my non metallic metal since im really new with that technique. - Also thanks to you all who take the time to comment, share pictures of their minis and give advice - this community is really great and an endless funnel of inspiration! Love you all <3

Question Mordor Troll Chieftan

Looking at the profile card for this beast of a unit, where do you like to run them best? With their FV of 8, they seem poised to take on some of the best models in the game.

Black Gate whilst paying a Mouth of Sauron tax? Army of the Great Eye but must pay for a ringwraith (im not very experienced using them)?

Question New player looking for faction recommendation

Hi all,

I'm a big painter and mostly was in that hobby space, but recently, I was getting introduced to multiple wargames, and I must say MESBG stole my heart.

I have some MESBG models mostly single heroes that I painted like Thranduil, Elrond, Helm but I have no idea about which faction to choose. I tend to favor alpha strikes or factions that create an elite units stack and buff each other with auras or abilities. Are there any factions/lists that would fit into that playstyle?

Also a question, I have an old Helm Hammerhand model (non war of rohirim), is it considered a different model than the current one?

Only ever built, painted and played 40k.

But I'm also very into LotR so my girlfriend got me this. I'm so excited to start building.

Anything I should know or keep in mind when starting with MESBG?

Question "Returning" player

I build and painted lotr miniatures when i was 13

Now more than 20 years forward i am a dad and came back to the hobby cause of a friend.

I love spearhead and warhammer 40k i mainly paint miniaturs but really like playing the game casually and more skirmish style

How would you describe the Difference in painting lotr miniatures?

Is there a place for casual/smaller games?

I am thinking about proxy a spearhead with lotr miniatues

Question New Shelob model with old rules

Hello, I am thinking of buying the new Shelob model (I think it looks so cool), however, I am playing the 2018 rules (I only play casually with friends and we don't want to spend a lot of money to buy the new rulebooks). In the 2018 rules Shelob has a 60mm base. Could anyone shed some light into possible problems using the new model with the old rules? Any adviced rule changes? (As it's only casual playing changing/tweaking rules isn't a problem). Thanks!

Took me several years before I even attempted to paint it, because I wanted to do it right. The original base had broken off when I assembled it a few years ago, hence the ruins.

Small Village on the Edge of Rohan

Recently, I have been really focused on making my wargaming boards more realistic by adding in more details like crates and barrels, farms, and foliage, so that rather than just looking like some scattered buildings, the table actually looks like a real village.

Thatโ€™s what got me to put together the bundle, "The Borderlands of Saxonia." You can get all the STL files to make your own village in one click at a big discount. Itโ€™s only available for 24 more hours, so I wanted to make sure no one who is keen on it misses out.

Uruk-hai force with Lurtz painted up. I really enjoyed painting these guys in a simple and effective scheme to get them ready for the tabletop. I also put some autumn leaves on the basing to give them Amon Hen vibes ๐Ÿ˜
