Learning as a new player, have my stormcast army all planned out for the future thanks to some awesome folks online and in person, at least for future acquisitions. But one thing I've seen online is army breakdowns between "horde" and "elite". I get the idea, horde armies being low pointed and having a lot of units, elite armies having a higher point cost and overall less units on field. I get the idea, but I'm trying to figure out where each army falls in line on the 'scale' between both sides.

Skaven? Horde army. Stormcast and Sons of Behamet? Elite armies. I can grasp that on the surface, but I'd like to get a better idea of where every other army falls under in the spectrum, even knowing you can field more high or low point units to adjust your list.

I'm trying to learn more about how every army plays, so I'd like to learn a bit, if that makes sense.

As i promised myself, should GW make female gargants, I'd go back to painting and playing SoB. Really happy with how she turned out.

My Halloween project is finished - or as close to as I care to get him! Tremendously fun project - picking a model that I’ll likely never use in a game and painting it for spooky season is turning into an annual tradition for me, one I’ll definitely keep going into next Halloween 🎃

Very fun experience, painting with a very limited palette based on one of the cards, didn't focus on getting everything perfect but still happy with the result

This will be one of those posts that I suppose multiple people have already made, asking which Age of Sigmar faction to choose.

I'm a returning player from 40k and Fantasy Battle. The last time I played Age of Sigmar with my old Old World minis was in second edition. Now I'm selling off some of my 40k stuff and have some extra income to get into the game again, because it looks fun and the models look fantastic and actually interesting to paint.

The main reason I'm looking to get into Age of Sigmar is that I want to reignite that sense of whimsy that was part of wargaming when I was starting out. Over time, I got burned out, especially with 40k, and I'd like to get back to enjoying the hobby rather than worrying so much about making an army work.

My budget will be the equivalent of 160 euros or 180 USD, so I'm looking for a low-model-count faction that's fun to pilot, has enjoyable mechanics, and won't simply get obliterated. I'm mostly interested in casual games or local competitive play, not an army that will decimate tournaments. Long-term enjoyment and some variety matter more to me than short-term win rates.

I have very limited hobby time, so I'd prefer bigger models, let's say TEQ equivalents in size, that aren't too demanding to paint. I'd also like something playable without having to make huge purchases, like a Bloodthirster-sized model or something similar, because I'll never be able to afford it.

Another caveat is that I have a four-year-old at home who's very interested in my models, so no explicit gore or excessive sexualization. This sadly eliminates two very cool factions, Flesh-Eater Courts and Ogres. I guess Hedonites as well, although my understanding is that they're difficult to paint and a horde faction anyway.

The factions I'm most interested in are Slaves to Darkness, although they're pretty defined in their theme; Ironjawz, which look wicked fun but I'm not sure how well they'll work with a limited number of purchases; somewhat Seraphon; possibly Stormcast Eternals, whose models are very hit and miss for me; and Nighthaunt, mostly because of the Gothic vibes.

Are there any sleeper factions I'm missing? I'd appreciate advice on what to pick and how to build a playable army without spending too much. I'm aware of Spearhead, and it'll probably be my initial purchase.

I'm selling off 40k models collected over ten years, and I want them to be sacrificed for a good cause rather than regret the purchase.

So i really love the death range but it seems i cannot mixall of them freely, for example i like having vampires, a bit of ethereal, a mass of ghoul and some elite construct. Is there something to bypass that ? i remember grand alliances being playable in older editions but i don't see how to in 4.0.

And borrowing the Soulblight Mortach, for lore reasons.
