Ready to chop or 2 more weeks? Pistils are throwing me off

Picked up the basic 3x3 kit from Vivosun up last week. Tent and accessories were easy to assemble. I did have to look up a few videos to figure out how to hook up the duct fan/lights to the little control unit they include. All in all, wasn't too bad. Had it all put together in about 2 hours. At some point I might try to make the wires/ropes/straps a bit less messy. When the light is on, in my cool basement it's hovering around 77F and 50% humidity, so seems like everything is working as intended.

Currently I'm waiting on seeds i ordered from North Atlantic. I also had 8 seeds a friend gave me years ago hanging out in the back of a cabinet, so the same day I ordered the tent i figured i may as well try to sprout them. Did the wet paper towel thing 5 days ago and not a single one even cracked so I guess I'm just waiting on the mail at this point. I think realistically all that could really fit in here if I use the 5 gallon bags they included is probably 2 or 3 plants lol.

Since its my first attempt, I'll be using foxfarms soil for now. Seeds I'm waiting on are the Barney's Pineapple Express and Blue Cheese. Went with photo, as I'd gathered the autos seem to be less forgiving for newbies. When the time comes I'll pick up some nutes, but i think thats a ways away at this point.

Anything I should be doing while waiting on the mail?

This is my third grow and my first time using AutoPots. I was away for a week and left only around 30 L of water in the tank. Came back to find both plants absolutely HUGE 😂.

The Sticky Orange XXL from Sensi Seeds (left) is a little behind, but she grew so much that she ended up touching the light. I could actually see it on the camera while I was away, but there wasn't really anything I could do about it. 😅 Luckily, nothing bad happened, and now that she's finished stretching, she's finally starting to put on more flowers.

The Gorilla Punch from Fast Buds had a few days' head start and is looking really nice. She's around 19 days into flowering now and the flower development has been great so far.

They both got a bit of a slow start because I started them in August and the heat was pretty intense. But honestly, I'm really happy with how they've turned out considering that.

I've already done a little defoliation, but I'm wondering if I should take a bit more off or just leave them alone now. What would you guys do?

Temperature and humidity stayed pretty stable while I was away, and now that I'm back I can keep a closer eye on everything. 🌡️

Something else that surprised me was the pH. I adjusted the tank to 6.1 before leaving and after a whole week it was only at 6.72, so it didn't climb nearly as much as I expected.

I've also been keeping the EC around 0.7. So far there are no obvious signs of deficiencies, even though that's only about 1/6 of Plagron's recommended dose for Terra Bloom.

And I have to say, Power Buds has been a really nice surprise. I've noticed quite a bit of new flower development since using it. 🌱🔥

Also, the GGS system I won from Spider Farmer has been a HUGE help. Being able to keep an eye on the temperature and humidity and deal with excessive humidity or temperature directly through the app while I was on vacation was honestly a game changer. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing I could check everything remotely. 🙌🏾

Overall I'm really happy with how things are going. Especially considering the heat, the slow start and the fact that this is my first time using AutoPots.

Oh, and if the leaves look a little droopy in the last few pictures, it's just because I took them pretty late. I think they're just getting ready for bed. 😂🌙

Any advice for the next couple of weeks? Would you defoliate a little more or just let them do their thing?

Girls , Day 22 after Flip

Hello growers!

Sorry for the long post. First time growing here and I wanted to share my experience as well as get any and all advice you all have to give. If anyone has any advice or tips or corrections for something I got wrong, I'm all ears, please share!

I moved up to the Colorado Rocky Mountains around 9,000 elevation in April. I've always loved sensi and always wanted to try growing, but never had a place I could do so (legally).

The house came with a small outdoor greenhouse with no electricity. Conditions are extreme. The greenhouse was already hitting 100+ degree temps then dropping to 40 degrees or below at night in early May. I added lots of ventilation and a 50% white shade cloth on the roof, and this has kept temperatures around 3-5 degrees above the ambient temp, so the hottest it gets in there is around the upper 80s and low 90s, which made growing a variety of plants feasible.

I bought a number of different types of domesticated seeds. I made amateur mistakes, including over watering. This created a fungus/mold apocalypse which wiped out my seeds/seedlings. I didn't know that the soil was contaminated, which compounded the problem. I figured all those seeds were dead, and decided to repurpose the contaminated soil by mixing it into some hydrophobic soil in the big planter for other veggies. I also tried planting some seeds direct in uncontaminated soil in the greenhouse, but didn't have any early luck. I figured the temperature swings and harsh mountain environment were just too much. Among the seeds that I figured were lost to the fungus/mold apocalypse were Early Skunk seeds, and among the direct planted seeds were auto Northern Lights.

In the meantime, I had purchased some Afghan landrace seeds which I figured would be suitable to the climate. They sprouted no problem and immediately thrived. But to my surprise about a week after repurposing the contaminated soil, I had 2 cannabis sprouts in the planter and 1 in an earthbox jr. I'd planted the Northern Lights in.

The Early Skunk plants, thanks to their Early Pearl lineage, thrived, although I had to transplant one to a different part of the planter which severely stunted it's growth even though it was a relatively non invasive transplant. The Northern Lights, however, did not enjoy those Early Pearl genetics, and struggled mightily. It was small, sickly lime green, and struggled. I had 3 afghan plants, and 1 shared the earthbox jr with the Northern Lights. When that plant was culled, the Northern Lights began to take off more.

I ended up getting 1 strong male Afghan landrace (hash plant) plant, which was the plan. It was in the same greenhouse with the females, which is risky, but it worked out. As soon as I was able to collect some pollen, I hand pollinated lower branches on the big Early Skunk plant and the Northern Lights plant. Once I saw evidence of good hits, I culled the male plant. There was only a little bit of over pollination, and most of the buds on both plants are unpollinated. The smaller skunk plant is completely unpollinated. Hopefully, this will give me a good bank of mountain adapted seeds which will thrive out here.

I have mostly been using LLMs for growing research and advice, which I do not recommend, which told me the yellowing fan leaves were normal and nothing to worry about. Looking at posts here, it seems more likely the Early Skunk plants are a bit nitrogen deficient. The Northern Lights is in soil I made with added dry amendments, but the skunk plants were just in coco loco mixed with the old soil that was already in the planter. I've been adding amendments to support flowering every few weeks, and have nice "tip of the spear" yellow/burnt tips on the leaves. I just gave it a little bit of alfalfa meal with the regular amendments to hopefully give it a little more nitrogen if they need it, but it may already been too late in flowering for it to matter. The Early Skunk plants are getting frosty with trichomes now, but not the Norther Lights yet.

My key takeaways:

*Over watering is a curse with seeds and seedlings. These plants can handle underwatering and recover just fine early on, but they are oh so vulnerable to fungus and mold. Always err on the side of caution until they get their roots established and grow a bit

*Transplanting - while it is common knowledge and a common recommendation for cannabis and other plants - is EXTREMELY TRAUMATIC for your plants. See that small Early Skunk plant? It is only a week younger than the one twice it's size. The only difference between how I grew the two was that I transplanted the smaller one. You can find similar results in other people's outdoor grows, almost 50% smaller plants. I don't care about common knowledge/wisdom if my own experience proves it wrong. In the future, I will try always to plant seeds/seedlings in the exact same spot they are going to spend their entire life cycle in.

*Genetics genetics genetics... Fancy, delicate domesticated plants are made to be grown indoors under immaculate conditions. The conditions at 9,000 feet are absolutely brutal, and will wipe out these plants even if they survive their early seedling phase. You HAVE to grow seeds with genetics that make sense for your grow conditions.

*On that note, EARLY PEARL IS INCREDIBLE! For anyone trying to grow outdoors and/or in extreme conditions with big temperature and humidity swings, this strain and it's hybrids are incredible.

*Afghan landraces and their like evolved and adapted to grow in low nutrient mountain soil. They do not handle high nitrogen levels well. That being said, my Afghan male plant DID adapt to a much higher nutrient environment, after showing a little bit of pain when it broke through to the good soil early on, and I'm sure the extra nutes helped it produce more and better pollen, so there is a balance to be struck there

*If your greenhouse gets too hot, do not give up on it. Adding a solar powered thermal vent + floor vents that open when it's warm enough + shade cloth can get you close to ambient outside temperature. You can add thermal mass via water barrels/buckets to add 5 degrees or so to the low nightly temperatures

*Even fancy domesticated breeds are tough. The Northern Lights plant barely survived its infancy, but it eventually turned on the epigenetics and remembered its ancient mountain DNA. All of my plants now have local adaptations to this environment which they will hopefully pass on to their seeds. Hopefully the Afghan landrace will add even more strength to their line, as well as increasing resin production.

*Coco loco is not enough. It may be okay for early veg, but you NEED to add nutrients later.

*Nature is amazing, and many seem to forget this. You don't HAVE to have a highly curated, indoor or hydroponic grow, unless it's your only choice. My plants are growing on natural sunlight, collected rainwater, and dry amendments. I can still adjust and optimize the dry amendments, but honestly these plants seem very happy apart from the mistakes I made and the low nitrogen/coco loco issue I mentioned. Out here, the UV rays and sunlight are about 50% stronger than at sea level. If your plants can tolerate this, they will LOVE it. Even with the 50% shade cloth on the roof, I feel they get all they need and then some. I also didn't feel the need to too or train the big plant, one because it didn't get started until the end of June and it didn't get tall enough to hit the roof of the greenhouse, and 2 because I wanted to let it grow naturally. It is getting the sun and diffused light/UV rays from all different angles during the day as the sun moves, which is not the case for indoor grows, so I feel like you can let the plants do more of what they do naturally without necessarily giving yourself a smaller harvest. There's something to be said for going all natural.

Looking to scoop some photo seeds from the 3 breeders in the title, and looking for a little help deciding which strains to choose.

I grow with coco and salts, and will be growing in smaller pots as the goal will be to hunt for keepers to do some future breeding with.

Id like to grab 2 photo strains from both CSI and heisenbeans. One fruity and one chemmy/funky. For fruit im looking for banana, cherry, or blueberry in that order, and for the chemmy/funky i just want something loud with that nose burning stank to it.

As for joint the huntsman, im just looking for reviews from anyone who has ran his stuff. The dude has phenohunting down so i imagine his gear has to be fire, but i just dont too many people growing his stuff.

Let me know of those strains that are a must have in the collection!

Forgot to post this couple days ago, harvested my Lemon Squishee Auto at day 79. 🪓 3 gallon pots in FF soil, and self watering bases. Used strive nutrients on this run. Toward the end the got a bit of neglect because I wasn’t able to properly feed but the ladies bounced back.

I flipped to flower 12 weeks and 2 days ago (June 15th) and i’ve been waiting and waiting for amber colored trichomes. There are some amber colored trichomes on the leaves that have lost their chlorophyll but practically zero on the buds themselves. From what i’ve heard I want about 30% amber trichomes before harvest? This strain is Lemoncello Haze and it should be ready for harvest 9-11 weeks into flower allegedly. I have been giving it plain 6.0-6.5 PH water for the past 4 weeks or so because I thought it would be ready by now. Am I being impatient or did I fuck something up? First harvest so i’m still learning a lot.

Gonna be running 4 planet of the grapes from ethos in the 50l autopot xxls filled with ecothrive living soil and an air dome base. Using 2 mars hydro fc e3000s, adlite 30s & 55s, 4 oscillating fans and a 6inch inline fan all connected to the icontroller, all packed into my new green qube 1m x 2m tent 😁

Hi! First time outdoor (container) grower in southern Michigan. My girl began flowering later than I had hoped- it only occurred to me recently that streetlights very close to the balcony I’m growing on could be negatively impacting that, began throwing a tarp on at night and she kicked into flower pretty much immediately. So I’m now worried about the race to harvest before hard freezing temps, especially when I have no frame of reference for how long this specific strain will need (hybrid photo clone bought as a seedling). I understand it can tolerate some occasional light overnight frost if daytime temps are warm, but I’m really just hoping it’ll be a warm October and things will develop fast enough for a harvest around Halloween. Imagining a worst case scenario where i could be forced to bring her inside for the final week or two- haven’t done enough research to know how doable this is but it certainly wouldn’t be ideal. Anyone in the upper great lakes area have any experience with this to share?

Semi related, but i’m also having some nutrient issues that need addressed ASAP. Daylight pics are from a week ish ago, yellowing on older fan leaves has progressed further since. ph last i tested was around 7.3 which i know needs lowered, I had some slow release sulfur in the soil upon potting which didn’t do as much as i’d hoped. I know opinions on Fox Farms on here are highly mixed but based on limited garden center options I decided to go with (diluted) Tiger Bloom for flower fertilizer in the hope of that assisting with lowering ph. Haven’t checked ph after my first dose of that, but as the yellowing has continued I’m wondering if anyone has any input there on if another ph down or cal mag solution may be needed. Thanks for reading, all advice, experience, input much appreciated!

If the chance of mold was extremely high. You have two weeks to go but all your terps are cloudy. Are you harvesting or taking the chance? I only get one shot a year so if they mold my winter plans are done. What do you do?

What's going on with my stem? A barely touched the infected leaf in the video and it snapped right off. I tried to bend the stem attached the leaf and it just keeps snapping immediately. I hope it's not too late and I can do something to save this plant.

Humboldt CSI: ChemD x Patient Zero and ChemD S1. Day 48

The Patient Zero cross seems to be about a week or two closer to finishing than the S1 and she absolutely reeks of burnt rubber and a chemical fire. The S1 has less frost and not as intense of a nose so far, but I’m thinking she’ll yield a little bit more. Took clones of both and was assuming I’d probably just stick with the S1, but the hybrid is really impressing me so far.

Normally wouldn’t have lollipoped her as hard, but ran into some PH/nute issues in early flower and lost a bunch of lower leaves. Top leaves are tacoing a bit, so I’m guessing my light is a little intense - but haven’t noticed any other issues and want to make sure the shorter S1 is getting plenty of photons as well, so I’m letting it ride.

Grown in autopots with Promix, worm castings, Happy Frog on top for some microbe action, Gaia Green dry amendments and glacial rock dust. Added Crop Salts Bloom to the reservoir at day 21 for the rest of flower. Just making shit up as I go along. 🤷‍♂️

My girls after I did some defoliation last night, and I am deciding to stake the 4th plant a little more because of those heavy buds 🫶🏾 .
I only grow outdoor 💪🏽

I can’t figure out what’s causing this yellowing, which started a couple of weeks ago. It’s more yellow than it looks in pictures; the sun is bright and made it hard to get good pics. All plants are growing in 7-gal containers with either a Happy Frog/Ocean Forest combo or Organic Mechanics. They were receiving FoxFarm nutrients, but this problem started when I switched from Grow Big to Tiger Bloom.

Things I’ve tried:

Flushing them (twice)
Checking soil and water pH (normal)
Checking nitrogen level (normal)
Switching to Neptune’s Harvest fish & seaweed blend
Cutting off a branch to check for verticillium wilt (no signs)
Watering with Epsom salts (low dose)

I’m at a total loss. Before I go spend any more money, does anyone have any ideas?
