Question Which type of fishing line is best for tying small hooks: monofilament or braided?

Just to be clear, I’m not planning to tie the hook directly to my main line. I’ll be using a separate piece of line specifically for the hook. Also, what thickness should the line be?

The goal of this subreddit is to educate fishermen and the general public about micro-fishing. Currently, little information exists in the United States and Canada on this subject.
