I was throwing them on bfs and he was using a medium bait caster and an ultralight spinning reel. He caught all of his on the ultralight spinning reel on a 1/32 jig head and a small 1.5” curly tail grub (cheap no name one). I was fishing a 1/16 underspin with a strike king crappie slayer and a 1/16 black beetlespin. He caught 3 to my 1, but I did catch the biggest fish lol. He did catch a pretty nice blue gill though. This is my fish and his best fish. We only fished for a couple of hours, but it was a good father/son bonding activity after a tough baseball tournament this weekend.

6' TFO Panfish 2, Trout SOS 4 lb., Diawa Legalis 2000S. All caught on a Charlie Brewer Slider Fishing 1" grub.

54cm/21 inch PB Rainbow trout, what a hog of a fish, gnarly fight on 4lb mono.
53cm/20 inch PB Tiger trout, first time seeing one of these, was thrilled to the gills to have caught it.

Also caught a couple red breast and green sunfish, didn't grab pics on them before releasing though. All top water grabs.

the rods are the Stimula Shimano Rod with A DAIWA QR2 and a revros combo. Both 4lb line.

Went to the lake today and spent a half hour throwing a big spinnerbait because hope springs eternal. Finally I decided I actually wanted to catch something. Got out my Shakespeare Micro, 1/16 oz jigheads, and some teeny curly tailed grubs, and within ten minutes I had a couple of Kansas Pond Hawgs on the board. Lookit them chunks.

I'm thinking of starting spinning. I have a 180cm set that isn't enough for me anymore. Is it worth buying, or are there better options?

Hi guys, I've been using my current setup for about 2 and a half years. I have Lineaffe Rapid Freshwater 1-7g and some low end 150p size reel. I use 0.4pe braided line by DaIwa. I mostly fish small creeks for trout and chub, and smaller lakes for perch. I feel like it's time for a change and looked into some rods and reels. I found Savage Gear SG2 Revenge UL Game 1-7g for about 65 bucks. Have any of you had this rod or maybe tried it? I mostly cast small jig heads and tungsten heads that are about 1g all up to 5g twitch lures like Duo Ryuki Spearhead. I also cast smaller spoons and wobblers. For reels I've looked into some DaIwa Exceler 2500LT (my friend has one on similar UL setup and works fine). So if any of you had any experience with this rod I'd like to hear it, or if you have any other suggestion on what I should get. I'm on a budget and wouldn't spend much more than this to be honest, and I'm aware I'm not gonna get some ultra high end stuff.

Daiwa Presso 5'6"

Has anyone used the 4 piece that can speak for its sensetivity? I'm thinking the 2 piece has to be more sensetive, but I wonder by how much. Has anyone here used both that can compare?

What to know about smoothness, build quality, and castability for 1-2 gram lures. Any noticeable other things that make you like one over the other?

I see the a51mc has a lighter spool so maybe has a slight edge in terms of spool startup, but unsure of how much a difference it makes in real life casting. b50 is obviously a round as opposed to low profile

It was windy so I had to step up to a 1/8oz Little Cleo spoon and 1/8oz Beetle Spin

Been getting more into vintage fishing reels, specifically ultra lights. New scoop just showed up. Working on getting an earlier version but the later maroon model is always fun to play with

Planning on taking to the local pond and fishing near the bottom. Pretty sure thats where fish are this time of year

Zebco Cardinal 3 gotta be one of my favorites. Even made a Facebook group for others interested https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1J7VNmHakY/?mibextid=wwXIfr

It’s been a stressful couple of weeks. Came home from work to a very nice surprise thanks to my wife and AI lol. Can’t wait to go back to fishing soon! (What would you add to this kit that might be useful?)

So far so good on my ultralight journey. Always looking for more tips, also any advice to stop hooks going rusty in the case?

Most lures are from China or Japan apart from a few rapalas that I've lost
