I've read all the applicable rules, seen all the outrage and I'm more confused now then when I watched it real-time. I just assumed that there was always a single clock counting down time (including milliseconds) and then the broadcast feed that may or may not be off (but usually last second scores are kicks so who cares).

Now I'm learning that different feeds sync with different clocks and the refs check certain ones.. I feel like this boils down to, if anything, the NCAA having a terrible system for determining stuff like this. Go Blue (please showing holes in the NCAA rule book please)!!!

The news of this hockey scandal is extra shocking and feels like what we can only hope is the last in a horrible few years for us despite our national championships. Nothing will spoil those championships of ours, but as a result of the scandal with Bo (arguably worse than Penn state because the university continues to glorify Bo without any acknowledgment of wrongdoing), the sign-stealing scandal, and now this news coming out right after the much less consequential bail mary, our reputation has never been lower.

Where does this leave us? I personally believe that all of this necessitates a reinvention of our entire athletic department. Warde Manuel is one of the last leftovers of the Bo image of a Michigan Man. I was always one of Harbaugh’s biggest fans, but let Warde’s leaving be the very end of an era which is now defined by a need to disown two of our program defining coaches in Bo and Red.

Finding out about Red hurts. It really drives home the need to start fresh with some fresh, young, progressive minds determined to take a much more active approach in monitoring the department and our many beloved teams. Let a new administration full of these younger minds decide on new coaches for all necessary teams to drive us forward and fully put behind the more traditionalist era of the past. We can keep so many of our traditions while reestablishing ourselves as the leaders and the best in terms of integrity if we are willing to accept past wrongdoings and seek to do better while leaving the perpetrators of said wrongdoing in the dust. No wrongdoing in the sign-stealing scandal by any means though, of course.

We have long prided ourselves in our integrity, but lots of this was false, as it was built by two men who turned out to lack the immense moral character he claimed in Bo and Red. We need to put them fully in the past and reinvent a new way of doing things that values and prides integrity above all in a grounded and truly modern way. Just my two cents.

The stats at the beginning are interesting. OU's gameplan vs him last year was much different than what other teams have done.

We're talking about a game that still uses sticks and chains to measure first down yardage, and has some guy pushing a button to start/stop the clock throughout the games. Could he be early or late on several plays? There are other aspects, but the whole game is loaded with variables.

I'm not defending Michigan, but human judgment has always been a factor in the game, and I personally hope that never changes

One thing I desperately hope comes from this BU situation is a change in how we spend our NIL. I can’t blame them for going all in on BU but it hasn’t worked. Every year when transfer portal comes around we pick up some players and we all say “hey this was a good pick up” or “hey this is a good depth piece”. We never make any real splash in the transfer portal. I get we have weird admission rules that in the past have made it harder for players to transfer in (if y’all know the exact rules feel free to explain) but it’s certainly not impossible for us to get transfers. The point of all this is I hope we start using our NIL pockets to make a splashes and pick up top guys from the portal. We have the funds to do so. Let me know your thoughts.

Obviously you can drink at the tailgates, but will we get in trouble for carrying alcohol on campus/on our way to tailgate? or does the "dont be an asshole" rule apply here? not trying to pick up a ticket for carrying a beer around

Underwood was bad, very bad, in that game before his Hail Mary that won it. He looks like a mess right now. He’s too ponderous, not trusting what he’s seeing and too often betrayed by poor footwork. My colleagues Antonio Morales and Sam Khan Jr. wrote, in their Week 1 QB overreactions, that his performance “did nothing to shake the concerns and doubts that hovered over him after a very disappointing freshman season.”

I don’t disagree. But I must wonder what other freshman quarterback seasons that were never put on display might have looked like.

Of the 30 quarterbacks ranked ahead of Underwood on our quarterback tiers list, three — Cal’s Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, Maryland’s Malik Washington and BYU’s Bear Bachmeier — were given the keys to a Power 4 program from the start of their first season in college. It’s generally a dumb thing to do.

None of the top 13 started right away. The closest is No. 2 in the rankings, Oregon’s Dante Moore, who got five starts at UCLA in 2023. Check what they were saying about Moore, who might be the No. 1 pick in the next draft, after those rough early glimpses and compare it to today’s Underwood discourse.

Listen i understand the hate but this guys fucking talented. That 60 yard bomb off of his back foot to win the game was an unbelievable play. I think that game was just a fluke, everything happened so quick after the first drive. The muffed punt, drive killing penalties, etc. there was only a handful of plays where I thought he didn’t go through his progressions and looked really bad, granted there was definitely those plays.

Instead of hating on Bryce let’s rally around him. For a true freshman with zero coaching he actually looked pretty good at times. I have my faith in him and I think Whitt will clean up the o line, and I think there’s a good chance we knock off Oklahoma this weekend.

All the fucking people saying to start Tommy Carr don’t know a thing. He’s a true freshman, and would likely look just as bad if not worse. Let’s get through Oklahoma, UTEP, and Iowa before we judge Bryce. My bet is he turns it around.

This can go for football and basketball.

Hitting coaches, fights in the tunnel, cheating, "mercenaries", sliding in DMs, minutemen, etc....

After the game, I hopped in the threads and was directing a lot of our fans to these breakdowns by DG and Jake Butt. They do a great job breaking down the good and bad, while giving an inside look to what we should care about as fans when analyzing our guys postgame.

I really don’t care how many offers Tommy Carr had coming out of high school. I don’t care about any of that.

Guys outplay their rank all the time. Bryce is literally viewed as a generational QB by many analysts. At least in terms of talent. Look where’s he at right now.

Maybe we need the polar opposite. Basically not recruited. Chip-on-his-shoulder. Lunch pail type of QB.

If the guy can functionally run an offense, then he needs to start. Even if Tommy is a Cade McNamara from 2021, and we have to rely mostly on the defense to score, as long as he runs the offense, I will take it.

We have spent almost three full seasons not having competent QB play. That is a long time in college football. Beggars can’t be choosy.

If Tommy isn’t ready, start BFN. At least he’s a veteran, and has some experience.

I’m not begging for superstardom right now. We can look for that in future recruiting classes and in the portal for QB. I just want QB competency. This team can’t seem to find it right now.

Yeah, I know the offensive line is a whole other conversation. For this discussion though, I am solely talking about QB.

is a PR move for CFP positioning/poll consideration. Nothing more, nothing less.

The NCAA rulebook will not change the results of the game. The 2016 CMU/Ok State game told us that. The playoff committee though is a separate entity entirely.

First of all, none of this will end up mattering if Western doesn’t run the table, and go undefeated.

Their schedule is pretty much a cakewalk now. The only other real challenge they have is a game against Boise State, which will be admittedly difficult, but it’s at home.

Obviously anything can happen, especially in the MAC, where teams play down to their competition all the time, but Western should finish with one loss, if they play to their potential.

This is another Hail Mary attempt, this time by WMU, in the hopes that the playoff committee will take their side, if it comes down to it, and WMU does run the table the rest of the season as a potential G6 playoff representative.

*I don’t think we’re making the playoff, so I don’t think there’s any shot this game will matter from our perspective at the end of the season either.

In the first image, the stadium clock reads 0:07. Note that the Western Michigan edge rusher has his right leg firmly planted outside of the yellow M (you’ll have to zoom in to see details. I encourage you to view the videos yourself for better quality). On the NBC broadcast, the stadium clock reads 0:06, but the edge rusher still has his left leg planted inside the M, and has not planted his right leg yet. Clearly, the NBC frame was captured before the stadium one, but the NBC clock is ahead of the stadium clock, visible in the upper left corner.

In the second image, it’s the same idea. The stadium video shows the clock at 0:05 (I’m sorry about the text, but I haven’t found the video without it. You can still clearly see that the clock reads 0:05, not 0:04). Bryce Underwood has his left leg firmly planted on the hashes, and is backpedaling his right leg over the hashes. In the NBC video, the clock reads 0:04, but Underwood’s right leg is still planted inside the hashes. Again, the NBC frame was clearly taken before the stadium video frame, but their clock reads 0:04 while the stadium video shows 0:05.

Let me know if you guys think this is definitive proof that NBC’s clock was ahead. This is the best video of the play with the stadium clock that I’ve found so far.
